²⁶ Then God said, ^(A)“Let us make man^[a] in our image, ^(B)after our likeness. And ^(C)let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

⁹ And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. ^(A)The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, ^(B)and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

² And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, ³ but God said, ^(A)‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

⁵ And from the midst of it came the likeness of ^(A)four living creatures. ^(B)And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, ^6 (C)but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings. ⁷ Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf's foot. And they sparkled ^(D)like burnished bronze. ⁸ Under their wings ^(E)on their four sides ^(F)they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus: ⁹ their wings touched one another. ^(G)Each one of them went straight forward, ^(H)without turning as they went. ¹⁰ As for the likeness of their faces, ^(I)each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle.
