A Treaty with Abimelech

²² At that time ^(A)Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army said to Abraham, ^(B)“God is with you in all that you do. ²³ Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity, but ^(C)as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me and with the land where you have sojourned.”

The Lord, the Only Savior

⁷ The Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to ^(A)exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, ^(B)as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.

⁵ From the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house ^(A)for Joseph's sake; the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had, in house and field.

³¹ Therefore ^(A)that place was called Beersheba,^[a] because there both of them swore an oath. ³² So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines.

⁵ Keep your life ^(A)free from love of money, and ^(B)be content with what you have, for he has said, ^(C)“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

¹⁶ For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes ^(A)an oath is final for confirmation.

^25 (A)the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, ^(B)falling on his face, he will worship God and ^(C)declare that God is really among you.
