¹⁴ When Abram heard that his relative^(A) had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained^(B) men born in his household^(C) and went in pursuit as far as Dan.^(D)

²⁹ They named it Dan^(A) after their ancestor Dan, who was born to Israel—though the city used to be called Laish.^(B)

³ And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant^(A) in my household^(B) will be my heir.”

⁷ I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves^(A) who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.

The Death of Moses

34 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo^(A) from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah,^(B) across from Jericho.^(C) There the Lord showed^(D) him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan,^(E)

²⁷ And every male in Abraham’s household^(A), including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him.

¹² For the generations to come^(A) every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised,^(B) including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.

⁵ He took his wife Sarai,^(A) his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated^(B) and the people^(C) they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan,^(D) and they arrived there.
