The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn

^29 (A)At midnight the ^(B)Lord struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, ^(C)from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock.

²³ and I say to you, “Let my son go that he may serve me.” If you refuse to let him go, behold, I ^(A)will kill your firstborn son.’”

⁴ while the Egyptians were burying all their firstborn, ^(A)whom the Lord had struck down among them. ^(B)On their gods also the Lord executed judgments.

^17 (A)For all the firstborn among the people of Israel are mine, both of man and of beast. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I consecrated them for myself,

⁴ So Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ^(A)‘About midnight I will go out in the midst of Egypt, ⁵ and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is ^(B)behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the cattle.

¹² For ^(A)I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on ^(B)all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: ^(C)I am the Lord.
