Diarhebion 3
Beibl William Morgan
3 Fy mab, na ollwng fy nghyfraith dros gof; ond cadwed dy galon fy ngorchmynion: 2 Canys hir ddyddiau, a blynyddoedd bywyd, a heddwch, a chwanegant hwy i ti. 3 Na ad i drugaredd a gwirionedd ymadael â thi: clyma hwy am dy wddf, ysgrifenna hwy ar lech dy galon. 4 Felly y cei di ras a deall da gerbron Duw a dynion.
5 Gobeithia yn yr Arglwydd â’th holl galon; ac nac ymddiried i’th ddeall dy hun. 6 Yn dy holl ffyrdd cydnebydd ef, ac efe a hyfforddia dy lwybrau.
7 Na fydd ddoeth yn dy olwg dy hun: ofna yr Arglwydd, a thyn ymaith oddi wrth ddrygioni. 8 Hynny a fydd iechyd i’th fogail, a mêr i’th esgyrn.
9 Anrhydedda yr Arglwydd â’th gyfoeth, ac â’r peth pennaf o’th holl ffrwyth: 10 Felly y llenwir dy ysguboriau â digonoldeb, a’th winwryfoedd a dorrant gan win newydd.
11 Fy mab, na ddirmyga gerydd yr Arglwydd; ac na flina ar ei gosbedigaeth ef; 12 Canys y neb a fyddo Duw yn ei garu, efe a’i cerydda, megis tad ei fab annwyl ganddo.
13 Gwyn ei fyd y dyn a gaffo ddoethineb, a’r dyn a ddygo ddeall allan. 14 Canys gwell yw ei marsiandïaeth hi na marsiandïaeth o arian, a’i chynnyrch hi sydd well nag aur coeth. 15 Gwerthfawrocach yw hi na gemau: a’r holl bethau dymunol nid ydynt gyffelyb iddi. 16 Hir hoedl sydd yn ei llaw ddeau hi; ac yn ei llaw aswy y mae cyfoeth a gogoniant. 17 Ei ffyrdd hi sydd ffyrdd hyfrydwch, a’i holl lwybrau hi ydynt heddwch. 18 Pren bywyd yw hi i’r neb a ymaflo ynddi: a gwyn ei fyd a ddalio ei afael ynddi hi. 19 Yr Arglwydd trwy ddoethineb a seiliodd y ddaear; trwy ddeall y sicrhaodd efe y nefoedd. 20 Trwy ei wybodaeth ef yr holltodd y dyfnderau, ac y defnynna yr wybrennau wlith.
21 Fy mab, na ollwng hwynt allan o’th olwg: cadw ddoethineb a phwyll. 22 Yna y byddant yn fywyd i’th enaid, ac yn ras i’th wddf. 23 Yna y cei rodio dy ffordd yn ddiofal, a’th droed ni thramgwydda. 24 Pan orweddych, nid ofni; ti a orweddi, a’th gwsg fydd felys. 25 Nac ofna rhag braw disymwth, na rhag dinistr yr annuwiol pan ddelo. 26 Canys yr Arglwydd a fydd dy hyder di, ac a geidw dy droed rhag ei ddal.
27 Na atal ddaioni oddi wrth y rhai y perthyn iddynt, pan fyddo ar dy law ei wneuthur. 28 Na ddywed wrth dy gymydog, Cerdda ymaith, a thyred amser arall, ac yfory mi a roddaf; a chennyt beth yn awr. 29 Na feddwl ddrwg yn erbyn dy gymydog, ac yntau yn trigo yn ddiofal yn dy ymyl.
30 Nac ymryson â neb heb achos, os efe ni wnaeth ddrwg i ti.
31 Na chenfigenna wrth ŵr traws, ac na ddewis yr un o’i ffyrdd ef. 32 Canys ffiaidd gan yr Arglwydd y cyndyn: ond gyda’r rhai uniawn y mae ei gyfrinach ef.
33 Melltith yr Arglwydd sydd yn nhŷ yr annuwiol: ond efe a fendithia drigfa y cyfiawn.
34 Diau efe a watwar y gwatwarus: ond ei ras a rydd efe i’r gostyngedig. 35 Y doethion a etifeddant anrhydedd, a gwarth fydd dyrchafiad ffyliaid.

Wisdom Bestows Well-Being
3 My son,(A) do not forget my teaching,(B)
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years(C)
and bring you peace and prosperity.(D)
3 Let love and faithfulness(E) never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.(F)
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.(G)
5 Trust in the Lord(H) with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths(I) straight.[a](J)
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;(K)
fear the Lord(L) and shun evil.(M)
8 This will bring health to your body(N)
and nourishment to your bones.(O)
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits(P) of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled(Q) to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.(R)
11 My son,(S) do not despise the Lord’s discipline,(T)
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,(U)
as a father the son he delights in.[b](V)
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.(W)
15 She is more precious than rubies;(X)
nothing you desire can compare with her.(Y)
16 Long life is in her right hand;(Z)
in her left hand are riches and honor.(AA)
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,

18 She is a tree of life(AC) to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.(AD)
19 By wisdom(AE) the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,(AF)
by understanding he set the heavens(AG) in place;
20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.
21 My son,(AH) do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,(AI)
preserve sound judgment and discretion;
22 they will be life for you,(AJ)
an ornament to grace your neck.(AK)
23 Then you will go on your way in safety,(AL)
and your foot will not stumble.(AM)
24 When you lie down,(AN) you will not be afraid;(AO)
when you lie down, your sleep(AP) will be sweet.
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the Lord will be at your side(AQ)
and will keep your foot(AR) from being snared.(AS)
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act.
28 Do not say to your neighbor,
“Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—
when you already have it with you.(AT)
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor,
who lives trustfully near you.(AU)
30 Do not accuse anyone for no reason—
when they have done you no harm.
31 Do not envy(AV) the violent
or choose any of their ways.
32 For the Lord detests the perverse(AW)
but takes the upright into his confidence.(AX)
33 The Lord’s curse(AY) is on the house of the wicked,(AZ)
but he blesses the home of the righteous.(BA)
34 He mocks(BB) proud mockers(BC)
but shows favor to the humble(BD) and oppressed.
35 The wise inherit honor,
but fools get only shame.
