^3 (A)No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of Yahweh; even to the tenth generation, none of their seed shall ever enter the assembly of Yahweh, ^4 (B)because they did not meet you with ^[a]food and water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you ^(C)Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of ^[b]Mesopotamia, to curse you.

War Against Judah

20 Now it happened after this, that the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon, together with some of the ^[a](A)Ammonites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat.

²⁸ “Now as for you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh concerning the sons of Ammon and concerning their ^(A)reproach,’ and say: ‘A sword, a sword is drawn, polished for the slaughter, to cause it ^[a]to ^(B)consume, that it may be like lightning— ²⁹ while they behold for you ^(C)worthless visions, while they divine lies for you—to place you on the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come, in the ^(D)time of the iniquity of the end. ^30 (E)Return it to its sheath. In the ^(F)place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I will judge you. ³¹ And I will ^(G)pour out My indignation on you; I will ^(H)blow on you with the fire of My fury, and I will give you into the hand of brutal men, ^(I)craftsmen of destruction. ³² You will be ^[b](J)fuel for the fire; your blood will be in the midst of the land. You will ^(K)not be remembered, for I, Yahweh, have spoken.’”

² “Son of man, set your face toward the ^(A)sons of Ammon and prophesy against them ³ and say to the sons of Ammon, ‘Hear the word of Lord Yahweh! Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Because you said, ‘^(B)Aha!’ against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went into exile, ⁴ therefore, behold, I am going to give you to the ^(C)sons of the east for a possession, and they will set their encampments among you and make their dwellings among you; they will ^(D)eat your fruit and drink your milk. ⁵ I will make ^(E)Rabbah a pasture for camels and the sons of Ammon a resting place for flocks. Thus you will know that I am Yahweh.” ⁶ For thus says Lord Yahweh, “Because you have ^(F)clapped your hands and stamped your feet and ^(G)were glad with all the scorn of your soul against the land of Israel, ⁷ therefore, behold, I have ^(H)stretched out My hand against you, and I will give you for ^(I)plunder to the nations. And I will ^(J)cut you off from the peoples and ^(K)make you perish from the lands; I will destroy you. Thus you will ^(L)know that I am Yahweh.”

Prophesy Against Moab

⁸ ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Because ^(M)Moab and Seir say, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations,’ ⁹ therefore, behold, I am going to open the flank of Moab by its cities, by its cities which are on its ^[a]frontiers, the glory of the land, ^(N)Beth-jeshimoth, ^(O)Baal-meon, and ^(P)Kiriathaim, ¹⁰ and I will give it for a possession along with the sons of Ammon to the ^(Q)sons of the east, so that the sons of Ammon will not be remembered among the nations.

¹³ Thus says Yahweh,

¹⁰ This they will have in return for their ^(I)pride because they have ^(J)reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Yahweh of hosts. ¹¹ Yahweh will be ^(K)fearsome to them, for He will ^[a]starve ^(L)all the gods of the earth; and all the ^(M)coastlands of the nations will ^(N)bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.
