¹⁶ And I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the cases between your brothers, and ^(A)judge righteously between a man and his brother or the alien who is with him.

^24 (A)Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

⁶ and said to the judges, “Consider what you do, ^(A)for you judge not for man but for the Lord. He is with you in giving judgment. ⁷ Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for ^(B)there is no injustice with the Lord our God, ^(C)or partiality or taking bribes.”

⁸ Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat ^(D)appointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel, ^(E)to give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem. ⁹ And he charged them: ^(F)“Thus you shall do in the fear of the Lord, in faithfulness, ^(G)and with your whole heart: ^10 (H)whenever a case comes to you from your brothers who live in their cities, concerning bloodshed, law or commandment, statutes or rules, then you shall warn them, that they may not incur guilt before the Lord and ^(I)wrath may not come upon you and your brothers. Thus you shall do, and you will not incur guilt.

Justice

¹⁸ “You shall appoint ^(A)judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ^19 (B)You shall not pervert justice. ^(C)You shall not show partiality, ^(D)and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous.

²² You shall have the ^(A)same rule for the sojourner and for the native, for I am the Lord your God.”

^7 (A)Keep far from a false charge, and ^(B)do not kill the innocent and righteous, for ^(C)I will not acquit the wicked. ^8 (D)And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.

^9 (E)“You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

² You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, ^3 (A)nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.

^21 (A)“You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ As for the rich in ^(A)this present age, charge them ^(B)not to be haughty, nor ^(C)to set their hopes on ^(D)the uncertainty of riches, but on God, ^(E)who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
