^13 (A)The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, ^(B)the God of our fathers, ^(C)glorified his servant^[a] Jesus, whom ^(D)you delivered over and ^(E)denied in the presence of Pilate, ^(F)when he had decided to release him.

^32 (A)‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob.’ And Moses trembled and did not dare to look.

^32 (A)‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.”

⁹ But we see him ^(A)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, ^(B)crowned with glory and honor ^(C)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might ^(D)taste death ^(E)for everyone.

^9 (A)Therefore ^(B)God has ^(C)highly exalted him and bestowed on him ^(D)the name that is above every name, ¹⁰ so that at the name of Jesus ^(E)every knee should bow, ^(F)in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and ^(G)every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is ^(H)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹⁵ They cried out, ^(A)“Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”

¹² From then on ^(A)Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend. ^(B)Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”

⁴⁰ They cried out again, ^(A)“Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.^[a]

^16 (A)I will therefore punish and release him.”^[a]

Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

^18 (B)But they all cried out together, ^(C)“Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— ¹⁹ a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and ^(D)for murder. ²⁰ Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, ²¹ but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” ²² A third time he said to them, “Why? ^(E)What evil has he done? ^(F)I have found in him no guilt deserving death. ^(G)I will therefore punish and release him.” ²³ But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
