49 And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, (A)raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 (B)But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. 52 And the disciples (C)were filled with joy and (D)with the Holy Spirit.

At Iconium

14 Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the (E)Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and [a]poisoned their [b]minds against the brethren. Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, (F)who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and (G)wonders to be done by their hands.

But the multitude of the city was (H)divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the (I)apostles. And when a violent attempt was made by both the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, (J)to abuse and stone them, they became aware of it and (K)fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region. And they were preaching the gospel there.

49 and the word of the Lord was spread abroad through all the region.

50 And the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the first men of the city, and did raise persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and did put them out from their borders;

51 and they having shaken off the dust of their feet against them, came to Iconium,

52 and the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

14 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they did enter together into the synagogue of the Jews, and spake, so that there believed both of Jews and Greeks a great multitude;

and the unbelieving Jews did stir up and made evil the souls of the nations against the brethren;

long time, indeed, therefore, did they abide speaking boldly in the Lord, who is testifying to the word of His grace, and granting signs and wonders to come to pass through their hands.

And the multitude of the city was divided, and some were with the Jews, and some with the apostles,

and when there was a purpose both of the nations and of the Jews with their rulers to use [them] despitefully, and to stone them,

they having become aware, did flee to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and to the region round about,

and there they were proclaiming good news.

49 And (A)the word of the Lord was being spread through the whole region. 50 But (B)the Jews incited the [a](C)devout women (D)of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their [b]region. 51 But (E)they shook off the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to (F)Iconium. 52 And the disciples were continually (G)filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

Acceptance and Opposition

14 In (H)Iconium (I)they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a way (J)that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of (K)Greeks. But (L)the [c](M)unbelieving Jews stirred up the [d]minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against (N)the brothers. Therefore they spent a long time there (O)speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was testifying to the word of His grace, granting that [e](P)signs and wonders be performed by their hands. (Q)But the [f]people of the city were divided; and some [g]sided with (R)the Jews, while others, with (S)the apostles. And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and (T)the Jews with their rulers, to treat them abusively and to (U)stone them, they became aware of it and fled to the cities of (V)Lycaonia, (W)Lystra and (X)Derbe, and the surrounding region; and there they continued to (Y)preach the gospel.
