Paul Sails for Rome

27 And when it was decided ^(A)that ^(B)we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion of the Augustan ^(C)Cohort named Julius.

Jesus Is Mocked

^27 (A)Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the ^(B)governor's headquarters,^[a] and they gathered the whole ^(C)battalion^[b] before him.

⁴⁰ But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the gospel to all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

The Faith of a Centurion

^5 (A)When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, ⁶ “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” ⁷ And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” ⁸ But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but ^(B)only say the word, and my servant will be healed. ⁹ For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant,^[a] ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” ¹⁰ When Jesus heard this, ^(C)he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with ^(D)no one in Israel^[b] have I found such faith. ¹¹ I tell you, ^(E)many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, ^12 (F)while the sons of the kingdom ^(G)will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place ^(H)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” ¹³ And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you ^(I)as you have believed.” ^(J)And the servant was healed at that very moment.

⁴³ But the centurion, ^(A)wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land,

^54 (A)When the centurion and those who were with him, ^(B)keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, ^(C)“Truly this was the Son^[a] of God!”

³¹ Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”

¹³ Now when some days had passed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Caesarea and greeted Festus.
