¹⁶ for ^(A)I will show him how much he must suffer for My name.”

^8 (A)in every way afflicted, but not ^(B)crushed; ^(C)perplexed, but not despairing; ^9 (D)persecuted, but not ^(E)forsaken; ^(F)struck down, but not destroyed; ^10 (G)always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that ^(H)the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. ¹¹ For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

⁴ but in everything ^(A)commending ourselves as ^(B)ministers of God, ^(C)in much perseverance, in afflictions, in distresses, in hardships, ⁵ in ^(D)beatings, in imprisonments, in ^(E)disturbances, in labors, in sleeplessness, in ^(F)hunger, ⁶ in purity, in ^(G)knowledge, in ^(H)patience, in kindness, in the ^(I)Holy Spirit, in ^(J)unhypocritical love, ⁷ in ^(K)the word of truth, in ^(L)the power of God; by ^(M)the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, ⁸ by glory and ^(N)dishonor, by ^(O)evil report and good report; regarded as ^(P)deceivers and yet ^(Q)true; ⁹ as unknown and yet well-known, as ^(R)dying and yet behold, ^(S)we live; as ^[a]punished and yet not put to death, ¹⁰ as ^(T)sorrowful but always ^(U)rejoicing, as ^(V)poor but making many rich, as ^(W)having nothing and yet possessing ^(X)all things.

^11 (Y)Our mouth ^[b]has spoken freely to you, O Corinthians, our ^(Z)heart is opened wide. ¹² You are not restrained ^[c]by us, but ^(AA)you are restrained in your own ^[d]affections. ¹³ Now in a like ^(AB)exchange—I speak as to ^(AC)children—open wide to us also.

^14 (AD)Do not be unequally yoked with ^(AE)unbelievers; for what ^(AF)partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? ¹⁵ Or what ^(AG)harmony has Christ with ^[e]Belial, or ^[f]what has a ^(AH)believer in common with an ^(AI)unbeliever? ¹⁶ Or ^(AJ)what agreement has a ^[g]sanctuary of God with idols? For we are ^(AK)a sanctuary of ^(AL)the living God; just as God said,

²³ Are they ^(A)ministers of Christ?—I speak as if insane—I more so; in ^[a](B)far more labors, in ^[b](C)far more imprisonments, in ^(D)beatings without number, in frequent ^(E)danger of death. ²⁴ Five times I received from the Jews ^(F)forty lashes less one. ²⁵ Three times I was ^(G)beaten with rods, once I was ^(H)stoned, three times I was shipwrecked—a night and a day I have spent in the deep. ²⁶ I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my ^(I)countrymen, dangers from the ^(J)Gentiles, dangers in the ^(K)city, dangers in the desolate places, dangers on the sea, dangers among ^(L)false brothers. ²⁷ I have been in ^(M)labor and hardship, in many sleepless nights, in ^(N)starvation and thirst, often ^(O)hungry, in cold and ^[c](P)without enough clothing.

¹⁰ Therefore ^(A)I am well content with weaknesses, with ^[a]insults, with ^(B)distresses, with ^(C)persecutions and ^(D)hardships, ^(E)for the sake of Christ, for ^(F)when I am weak, then I am strong.
