²² So ^(A)flee ^(B)youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with ^(C)those who call on the Lord ^(D)from a pure heart.

¹⁹ Now ^(A)the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, ^(B)divisions, ²¹ envy,^[a] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that ^(C)those who do^[b] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But ^(D)the fruit of the Spirit is ^(E)love, joy, peace, patience, ^(F)kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ^23 (G)gentleness, ^(H)self-control; ^(I)against such things there is no law. ²⁴ And those who belong to Christ Jesus ^(J)have crucified the flesh with its ^(K)passions and desires.

Fight the Good Fight of Faith

¹¹ But as for you, ^(A)O man of God, ^(B)flee these things. ^(C)Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

⁹ But ^(A)those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, ^(B)into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that ^(C)plunge people into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of ^(D)all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Fight the Good Fight of Faith

¹¹ But as for you, ^(E)O man of God, ^(F)flee these things. ^(G)Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. ^12 (H)Fight the good fight of the faith. ^(I)Take hold of the eternal life ^(J)to which you were called and about which you made ^(K)the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. ^13 (L)I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, ^(M)who in his testimony before^[a] Pontius Pilate made ^(N)the good confession, ¹⁴ to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until ^(O)the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁹ thus ^(A)storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may ^(B)take hold of ^(C)that which is truly life.

¹⁶ Therefore, ^(A)confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, ^(B)that you may be healed. ^(C)The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.^[a]

The Prayer of Faith

¹³ Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him ^(A)sing praise. ¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, ^(B)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And ^(C)if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. ¹⁶ Therefore, ^(D)confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, ^(E)that you may be healed. ^(F)The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.^[a]

The Way of Love

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. ² And if I have ^(A)prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, ^(B)so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. ^3 (C)If I give away all I have, and ^(D)if I deliver up my body to be burned,^[a] but have not love, I gain nothing.

²⁰ Now in ^(A)a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, ^(B)some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. ²¹ Therefore, ^(C)if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable,^[a] he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ^(D)ready for every good work.
