¹⁷ comfort your hearts and ^(A)establish them in every good work and word.

³ But ^(A)the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and ^(B)guard you against ^(C)the evil one.^[a]

God of All Comfort

^3 (A)Blessed be the ^(B)God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and ^(C)God of all comfort, ^4 (D)who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For as we share abundantly in ^(E)Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.^{[a] 6 (F)}If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.

¹³ May the God of hope fill you with all ^(A)joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

¹⁸ Little children, let us not ^(A)love in word or talk but in deed and ^(B)in truth.

¹⁰ And ^(A)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, ^(B)who has called you to his ^(C)eternal glory in Christ, will himself ^(D)restore, ^(E)confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
