²⁴ And ^(A)Abiathar came up, and behold, ^(B)Zadok came also with all the Levites, ^(C)bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God until the people had all passed out of the city.

¹⁷ and ^(A)Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and ^(B)Seraiah was secretary,

¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, as the camp sets out, after that ^(A)the sons of Kohath shall come to carry these, ^(B)but they must not touch the holy things, lest they die. These are the things of the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.

²⁵ and Sheva was secretary; and ^(A)Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

²⁰ But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named ^(A)Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

¹¹ This shall be for ^(A)the consecrated priests, ^(B)the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, ^(C)as the Levites did.

² Then David said that no one but the Levites may carry ^(A)the ark of God, for the Lord had chosen them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister to him forever.

^8 (A)Ahitub fathered ^(B)Zadok, Zadok fathered Ahimaaz, ⁹ Ahimaaz fathered Azariah, Azariah fathered Johanan, ¹⁰ and Johanan fathered Azariah (^(C)it was he who served as priest ^(D)in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem). ^11 (E)Azariah fathered ^(F)Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub, ¹² Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered ^(G)Shallum,

² and these were his high officials: Azariah the son of Zadok was ^(A)the priest; ³ Elihoreph and Ahijah the sons of Shisha were secretaries; ^(B)Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; ^4 (C)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of the army; ^(D)Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
