¹⁸ Then the captain of the guard took ^(A)Seraiah the chief priest and ^(B)Zephaniah the second priest, with the three ^[a]doorkeepers of the temple. ¹⁹ And from the city he took one official who was overseer of the men of war, and ^(C)five ^[b]of the king’s advisers who were found in the city; and the ^[c]scribe of the commander of the army who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the city. ²⁰ And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them and led them to the king of Babylon at ^(D)Riblah. ²¹ Then the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. ^(E)So Judah went into exile from its land.

³ because Zedekiah king of Judah had ^(A)shut him up, saying, “Why do you ^(B)prophesy, saying, ‘^(C)Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I am about to ^(D)give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will capture it; ⁴ and Zedekiah king of Judah will ^(E)not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but he will surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will ^(F)speak with him ^[a]face to face and see him eye to eye;

⁶ Then the ^(A)king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah ^(B)before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also slaughtered all the ^(C)nobles of Judah.

¹⁰ Then the king of Babylon ^(A)slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also slaughtered all the ^[a]princes of Judah in Riblah.

²⁴ Then the captain of the guard took ^(A)Seraiah the chief priest and ^(B)Zephaniah the second priest, with the three ^[a](C)doorkeepers of the temple. ²⁵ And from the city he took one official who was overseer of the men of war, and seven ^[b]of the ^(D)king’s advisers who were found in the city, and the scribe of the commander of the army who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the midst of the city. ²⁶ And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them and ^(E)led them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. ²⁷ Then the king of Babylon ^(F)struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah ^(G)went into exile from its land.

¹⁶ As I live,’ declares Lord Yahweh, ‘Surely in the ^[a]country of the king who made him king, whose oath he ^(A)despised and whose covenant he broke, ^[b](B)in Babylon he shall die.
