Zedekiah Reigns over Judah

^17 (A)Then the king of Babylon made ^[a]his uncle Mattaniah king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.

²⁰ For ^(A)through the anger of Yahweh this came about in Jerusalem and Judah until He cast them out from His presence. And ^(B)Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

⁵⁹ For thus says Lord Yahweh, “I will also do with you as you have done, you who have ^(A)despised the oath by breaking the covenant.

¹³ He took one of the royal ^(A)seed and cut a covenant with him and brought him under ^(B)oath. He also took away the ^(C)dominant one of the land,

¹⁸ Now he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and behold, he ^[a](A)pledged his allegiance, yet did all these things; he shall not escape.’” ¹⁹ Therefore, thus says Lord Yahweh, “As I live, surely My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will ^[b]put on his head.
