⁸ But since we belong to the day,^(A) let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate,^(B) and the hope of salvation^(C) as a helmet.^(D)

¹² The night is nearly over; the day is almost here.^(A) So let us put aside the deeds of darkness^(B) and put on the armor^(C) of light. ¹³ Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness,^(D) not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.^(E)

Be Holy

¹³ Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober,^(A) set your hope^(B) on the grace to be brought to you^(C) when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.^(D)

¹¹ Put on the full armor of God,^(A) so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

³⁵ So do not throw away your confidence;^(A) it will be richly rewarded.

³⁶ You need to persevere^(B) so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.^(C)

¹⁹ We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,^(A)

¹³ And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.^(A) But the greatest of these is love.^(B)

⁵ You are all children of the light^(A) and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
