¹³ God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”^[a](A)

⁷ The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting that person to death,^(A) and then the hands of all the people.^(B) You must purge the evil^(C) from among you.

⁵ That prophet or dreamer must be put to death^(A) for inciting rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. That prophet or dreamer tried to turn^(B) you from the way the Lord your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil^(C) from among you.

²¹ Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death.^(A) You must purge the evil^(B) from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.^(C)

¹⁷ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church;^(A) and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.^(B)

²⁴ you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.^(A)

²¹ she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing^(A) in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.

²² If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept^(B) with her and the woman must die.^(C) You must purge the evil from Israel.

¹² Anyone who shows contempt^(A) for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering^(B) there to the Lord your God is to be put to death.^(C) You must purge the evil from Israel.^(D)

⁵ hand this man over^(A) to Satan^(B) for the destruction of the flesh,^[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.^(C)
