David's Charge to Solomon

⁹ “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a ^(A)whole heart and with a willing mind, ^(B)for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. ^(C)If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

^13 (A)You will seek me and find me, when you seek me ^(B)with all your heart.

^8 (A)Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. ^(B)Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and ^(C)purify your hearts, ^(D)you double-minded. ^9 (E)Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. ^10 (F)Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

^11 (G)Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.^[a] The one who speaks against a brother or ^(H)judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

Ask, and It Will Be Given

^7 (A)“Ask, ^(B)and it will be given to you; ^(C)seek, and you will find; ^(D)knock, and it will be opened to you. ⁸ For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

^7 (A)I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, ^(B)and they shall be my people ^(C)and I will be their God, ^(D)for they shall return to me with their whole heart.

^61 (A)Let your heart therefore be wholly true to the Lord our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.”

The Value of Wisdom

² and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: ^(A)The Lord is with you while you are with him. ^(B)If you seek him, he will be found by you, ^(C)but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
