¹⁵ When he came to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we refrain?” And he ^[a]answered him, “^(A)Go up and succeed, and the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.” ¹⁶ Then the king said to him, “How many times must I adjure you to speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, “^(A)Is there not a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, “^(B)Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, ^(C)who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.” ¹² Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Jeremiah’s Message for Zedekiah

21 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord when ^(A)King Zedekiah sent to him ^(B)Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and ^(C)Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, saying, ² “Please ^(D)inquire of the Lord on our behalf, for ^(E)Nebuchadnezzar king of ^(F)Babylon is warring against us; perhaps the Lord will deal with us ^(G)according to all His ^[a]wonderful acts, so that the enemy will withdraw from us.”

³ Yet ^(A)King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and ^(B)Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “^(C)Please pray to the Lord our God on our behalf.”
