² “Please ^(A)inquire of the Lord on our behalf, for ^(B)Nebuchadnezzar king of ^(C)Babylon is warring against us; perhaps the Lord will deal with us ^(D)according to all His ^[a]wonderful acts, so that the enemy will withdraw from us.”

³ Yet ^(A)King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and ^(B)Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “^(C)Please pray to the Lord our God on our behalf.”

¹⁴ Then King Zedekiah ^(A)sent and ^[a]had Jeremiah the prophet brought to him at the third entrance that is in the house of the Lord; and the king said to Jeremiah, “I am going to ^(B)ask you something; do not hide anything from me.”

² and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please let our ^(A)petition ^[a]come before you, and ^(B)pray for us to the Lord your God, that is for all this remnant; because we are left but a ^(C)few out of many, as your own eyes now see us,
