모세가 죽다
34 모세가 모압 평원에서 여리고 맞은편에 있는 느보 산 비스가 봉우리로 올라갔다. 주께서는 그곳에서 길르앗에서 단에 이르는 온 땅을 그에게 보여 주셨다. 2 또 납달리가 차지할 땅도 보여 주시고 에브라임과 므낫세의 땅도 보여 주셨다. 또한 지중해까지 이르는 유다의 땅 전부도 보여 주셨다. 3 또 네겝과 종려나무의 성읍인 여리고의 계곡에서부터 소알에 이르는 전 지역을 보여 주셨다. 4 주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “이것은 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하여 그들의 자손에게 주겠다고 한 땅이다. 네 눈으로 이 땅을 볼 수 있게 해 준다마는 네가 강을 건너 그곳으로 들어가지는 못할 것이다.”
5 주의 종 모세는 주의 말씀대로 거기 모압 땅에서 죽어 6 모압 땅 벳브올 맞은쪽에 있는 어느 골짜기에 묻혔는데 오늘에 이르기까지 모세의 무덤이 어디 있는지 아는 사람이 없다. 7 모세가 죽을 때에 나이가 백스무 살이었으나, 그의 눈은 침침하지 않았고 기력도 줄지 않았다. 8 이스라엘 백성은 모압 평원에서 삼십 일 동안 모세의 죽음을 슬퍼하며 울었다. 이윽고 모세의 죽음을 슬퍼하며 우는 기간이 끝났다.
여호수아가 새 지도자가 되다
9 모세가 죽기 전에 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 손을 얹어[a] 주었으므로 여호수아에게 지혜의 영이 넘쳤다. 그래서 이스라엘 백성은 그의 말을 귀담아 듣고 주께서 모세에게 명령하신 것을 다 지켰다.
10 그 뒤로 이스라엘에는 모세와 같은 예언자가 다시는 나지 않았다. 주께서는 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주대고 모세와 말씀하셨다. 11 주께서는 모세를 이집트의 파라오와 그의 신하들과 그의 온 땅에 보내셔서, 그 모든 표적과 놀라운 일들을 하게 하셨다. 12 모세가 온 이스라엘 백성 앞에서 한 것처럼 그토록 큰 권능을 보여주고 놀라운 일을 한 사람이 다시는 없었다.

34 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab (A)to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah (B)as far as the western sea, 3 (C)the Negeb, and (D)the Plain, that is, the Valley of Jericho (E)the city of palm trees, as far as (F)Zoar. 4 And the Lord said to him, (G)“This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’ (H)I have let you see it with your eyes, but (I)you shall not go over there.” 5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, 6 and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but (J)no one knows the place of his burial to this day. 7 (K)Moses was 120 years old when he died. (L)His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated. 8 And the people of Israel (M)wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of (N)the spirit of wisdom, for (O)Moses had laid his hands on him. So (P)the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 And there has not (Q)arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, (R)whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 none like him for all (S)the signs and the wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, 12 and for all the mighty power and all the great deeds of terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

34 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo(A) from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah,(B) across from Jericho.(C) There the Lord showed(D) him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan,(E) 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea,(F) 3 the Negev(G) and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms,(H) as far as Zoar.(I) 4 Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath(J) to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob(K) when I said, ‘I will give it(L) to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross(M) over into it.”
5 And Moses the servant of the Lord(N) died(O) there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6 He buried him[a] in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor,(P) but to this day no one knows where his grave is.(Q) 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old(R) when he died, yet his eyes were not weak(S) nor his strength gone.(T) 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab(U) thirty days,(V) until the time of weeping and mourning(W) was over.
9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit[b] of wisdom(X) because Moses had laid his hands on him.(Y) So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
10 Since then, no prophet(Z) has risen in Israel like Moses,(AA) whom the Lord knew face to face,(AB) 11 who did all those signs and wonders(AC) the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials(AD) and to his whole land. 12 For no one has(AE) ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds(AF) that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
