어린 아이같이 되라
18 그때 제자들이 예수님께 와서 “하늘 나라에서는 누가 가장 위대합니 까?” 하고 물었다.
2 그래서 예수님은 한 어린 아이를 불러 그들 가운데 세우고
3 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내가 분명히 말해 둔다. 너희가 변화되어 어린 아이와 같이 되지 않으면 결코 하늘 나라에 들어가지 못할 것이다.
4 그러므로 하늘 나라에서 가장 위대한 사람은 이 어린 아이처럼 자기를 낮추는 사람이다.
5 누구든지 내 이름으로 이런 어린 아이를 영접하면 곧 나를 영접하는 것이다.
6 그러나 누구든지 나를 믿는 이런 어린 아이 하나를 죄 짓게 하는 사람은 [a]차라리 목에 큰 맷돌짝을 달고 깊은 바다에 빠져 죽는 것이 더 낫다.
7 “죄 짓게 하는 일 때문에 이 세상에 불행이 닥칠 것이다. 세상에는 죄 짓게 하는 일이 항상 있기 마련이다. 그러나 죄 짓게 하는 그 사람에게는 불행이 닥칠 것이다.
8 네 손이나 발이 너를 죄 짓게 하면 잘라 버려라. 두 손이나 두 발을 가지고 [b]영원히 불타는 지옥에 들어가는 것보다는 절뚝발이나 불구자로 [c]영원한 생명을 누리는 하늘 나라에 들어가는 것이 더 낫다.
9 네 눈이 너를 죄 짓게 하면 빼어 버려라. 두 눈을 가지고 불타는 지옥에 들어가는 것보다는 외눈으로 [d]하나님 나라에 들어가는 것이 더 낫다.
10 “너희는 이런 어린 아이 하나라도 업신여기지 않도록 조심하라. 그들의 천사들이 하늘에 계신 내 아버지를 항상 뵙고 있다.
11 [e]([f]나는 잃어버린 사람을 구원하러 왔다.)
12 너희는 어떻게 생각하느냐? 어떤 사람에게 양 백 마리가 있는데 그 중에 한 마리가 길을 잃으면 아흔아홉 마리를 산에 두고 가서 길 잃은 양을 찾지 않겠느냐?
13 내가 너희에게 분명히 말하지만 그가 양을 찾으면 길을 잃지 않은 아흔아홉 마리 양보다 그 한 마리 양 때문에 더 기뻐할 것이다.
14 이와 같이 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서는 이런 어린 아이 하나라도 [g]잃는 것을 원치 않으신다.”
남을 용서하여라
15 “형제가 네게 죄를 짓거든 너는 그와 단둘이 만나 잘못을 타일러라. 그가 네 말을 들으면 너는 네 형제를 얻은 것이다.
16 그러나 듣지 않으면 너는 한두 사람을 더 데리고 가서 두세 증인의 입으로 모든 사실을 증명하라.
17 그래도 듣지 않으면 너는 교회에 말하고 교회의 말도 듣지 않으면 [h]믿지 않는 사람이나 죄인처럼 여겨라.
18 내가 너희에게 분명히 말하지만 너희가 땅에서 [i]처벌하면 하늘에서도 [j]처벌할 것이며 너희가 땅에서 [k]용서하면 하늘에서도 [l]용서할 것이다.
19 내가 다시 말한다. 너희 중에 두 사람이 땅에서 마음을 같이하여 무엇이든지 구하면 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 이루어 주실 것이다.
20 두세 사람이 내 이름으로 모이는 곳에는 나도 그들 가운데 있다.”
21 그때 베드로가 예수님께 와서 “주님, 형제가 내게 죄를 지었을 때 몇 번이나 용서해야 합니까? 일곱 번까지면 되겠습니까?” 하고 묻자
22 예수님은 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “일곱 번만 아니라 [m]일흔 번씩 일곱 번이라도 용서하여라.
23 그러므로 하늘 나라는 종들과 계산을 하려는 왕과 같다.
24 계산을 시작하자 [n]10,000달란트 빚진 한 종이 왕 앞에 끌려왔다.
25 그 종에게는 빚을 갚을 돈이 없었으므로 왕은 종에게 그와 아내와 자식들과 그가 가진 것 전부를 팔아서 빚을 갚으라고 명령하였다.
26 그러자 종은 왕에게 엎드려 ‘조금만 참아 주십시오. 그러면 다 갚아 드리겠습니다’ 하고 간청하였다.
27 그래서 왕은 그를 불쌍히 여겨 빚을 모두 면제해 주고 놓아 주었다.
28 “그러나 그 종은 나가 자기에게 [o]100데나리온 빚진 동료를 만나 멱살을 잡고 ‘당장 내 돈을 내놔!’ 하면서 재촉하였다.
29 그 동료는 엎드려 ‘조금만 참아 주게. 반드시 갚겠네’ 하고 간청하였다.
30 그러나 그 종은 그 사람의 간청을 들어주지 않고 빚을 다 갚을 때까지 그를 감옥에 가둬 버렸다.
31 다른 종들이 그가 하는 짓을 보고 몹시 마음이 아파 왕에게 가서 모두 일러바쳤다.
32 그래서 왕이 그 종을 불러 말하였다. ‘네 이놈, 네가 간청하기에 모든 빚을 면제해 주지 않았느냐?
33 그렇다면 내가 너를 불쌍히 여긴 것처럼 너도 네 동료를 불쌍히 여기는 것이 마땅하지 않으냐?’
34 그러고서 왕은 화를 내며 빚을 다 갚을 때까지 그 종을 가두어 두었다.
35 너희가 진심으로 형제를 용서하지 않으면 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서도 너희에게 그와 같이 하실 것이다.”

The Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven(A)
18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children,(B) you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.(C) 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.(D) 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.(E)
Causing to Stumble
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.(F) 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!(G) 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble,(H) cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to stumble,(I) gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.(J)
The Parable of the Wandering Sheep(K)
10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels(L) in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. [11] [a]
12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.
Dealing With Sin in the Church
15 “If your brother or sister[b] sins,[c] go and point out their fault,(M) just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[d](N) 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church;(O) and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.(P)
18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[e] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[f] loosed in heaven.(Q)
19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them(R) by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”(S)
The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant
21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me?(T) Up to seven times?”(U)
22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[g](V)
23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like(W) a king who wanted to settle accounts(X) with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold[h] was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay,(Y) the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold(Z) to repay the debt.
26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him.(AA) ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins.[i] He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.
29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’
30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.
32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”(AB)

18 En aquella ocasión, los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús cuál de ellos ocuparía el cargo más importante en el reino de los cielos.
2 Jesús llamó a un niño de los que andaban por allí y lo sentó en medio de ellos. Entonces les dijo:
3 «Si no se vuelven a Dios, arrepentidos de sus pecados y con sencillez de niños, no podrán entrar en el reino de los cielos. 4 En otras palabras, el que esté libre de altivez como este niño tendrá un puesto importante en el reino de los cielos. 5 El que reciba en mi nombre a una persona así, a mí me recibe. 6 Pero al que haga que uno de mis creyentes humildes pierda la fe, mejor le sería que le ataran una roca al cuello y lo arrojaran al mar. 7 ¡Ay del mundo y sus maldades! La tentación es, ciertamente, inevitable, pero ¡ay de la persona que tienta! 8 Por lo tanto, si tu mano o tu pie te hace pecar, córtatelo y échalo de ti, porque es mejor entrar al reino de los cielos mutilado que ir a parar al infierno con las dos manos y los dos pies. 9 Y si tu ojo te hace pecar, sácatelo y échalo a la basura. Mejor te es entrar tuerto al reino de los cielos que ir al infierno con los dos ojos.
Parábola de la oveja perdida
10 »Nunca menosprecien al creyente humilde, porque su ángel tiene en el cielo constante acceso al Padre. 11 Además, yo, el Hijo del hombre, vine a salvar a los perdidos. 12 Si un hombre tiene cien ovejas y una se le extravía, ¿qué hará? ¿No deja las noventa y nueve sanas y salvas y se va a las montañas a buscar la perdida? 13 Ah, ¡y si la encuentra, se regocija más por aquélla que por las noventa y nueve que dejó en el corral! 14 Asimismo, mi Padre no quiere que ninguno de estos pequeños se pierda.
El hermano que peca contra ti
15 »Si un hermano te hace algo malo, llámalo y dile en privado cuál ha sido su falta. Si te escucha y la reconoce, habrás recuperado a un hermano. 16 Pero si no, consíguete una o dos personas que vayan contigo a hablarle y te sirvan de testigos. 17 Si se niega a escucharte, presenta el caso a la iglesia, y si esta se pronuncia a tu favor y tu hermano no acepta la recomendación de la iglesia, entonces la iglesia debe expulsarlo. 18 Les aseguro que cuanto aten en la tierra quedará atado en el cielo, y que lo que suelten en la tierra quedará suelto en el cielo. 19 También quiero decirles que si dos de ustedes se ponen de acuerdo aquí en la tierra acerca de algo que quieran pedir en oración, mi Padre que está en los cielos se lo concederá, 20 porque dondequiera que estén dos o tres reunidos en mi nombre, allí estaré yo».
Parábola del siervo despiadado
21 Pedro se le acercó y le preguntó:
―Señor, ¿cuántas veces debo perdonar a un hermano que haga algo malo contra mí? ¿Debo perdonarlo siete veces?
22 ―¡No! —respondió Jesús—, ¡perdónalo hasta setenta veces siete si es necesario!
23 »El reino de los cielos puede compararse a un rey que decidió arreglar cuentas con sus súbditos. 24 En el proceso, le trajeron a uno que le debía cien millones de pesos. 25 Como no podía pagarle, el rey ordenó que lo vendieran como esclavo, y también a su esposa, a sus hijos y sus posesiones. 26 Al oírlo, el hombre cayó de rodillas delante del rey y le suplicó: “Señor, por favor, ten paciencia conmigo y te lo pagaré todo”. 27 El rey, conmovido, lo soltó y le perdonó la deuda.
28 »Pero cuando aquel mismo hombre salió de allí, fue adonde estaba alguien que le debía veinte mil pesos y, agarrándolo por el cuello, exigió pago inmediato. 29 También este hombre cayó de rodillas delante de él y le suplicó: “Ten paciencia y te lo pagaré todo”. 30 Pero su acreedor no quiso conceder ninguna prórroga, y lo hizo arrestar y meter a la cárcel hasta que la deuda quedara completamente saldada. 31 Los amigos del encarcelado, entristecidos, acudieron al rey y le contaron lo sucedido. 32 El rey, sin pérdida de tiempo, mandó llamar al hombre al que había perdonado. “¡Malvado! ¡Perverso!”, le dijo. “¡Así que yo te perdoné aquella inmensa deuda porque me lo pediste, 33 y tú no pudiste tener misericordia del otro como yo la tuve de ti?”. 34 Tan enojado estaba el rey que lo envió a las cámaras de tortura hasta que pagara el último centavo.

Who Is the Greatest?(A)
18 At (B)that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 Then Jesus called a little (C)child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, (D)unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 (E)Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 (F)Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
Jesus Warns of Offenses(G)
6 (H)“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of [a]offenses! For (I)offenses must come, but (J)woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
8 (K)“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into [b]hell fire.
The Parable of the Lost Sheep(L)
10 “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven (M)their angels always (N)see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 (O)For[c] the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.
12 (P)“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the (Q)will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
Dealing with a Sinning Brother
15 “Moreover (R)if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, (S)you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that (T)‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a (U)heathen and a tax collector.
18 “Assuredly, I say to you, (V)whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19 (W)“Again[d] I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, (X)it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered (Y)together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? (Z)Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, (AA)up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded (AB)that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.
28 “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down [e]at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you [f]all.’ 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you (AC)all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.
35 (AD)“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother [g]his trespasses.”
