27 到了清晨，所有的祭司长和民间的长老商议对付耶稣，为要处死他。 2 他们把耶稣捆起来带走，交给总督彼拉多。
犹大自缢
3 这时候，那出卖耶稣的犹大看见耶稣被定了死罪，就后悔，去把三十个银钱退还给祭司长们和长老们， 4 说：“我出卖了无辜人的血，我有罪了。”
但是他们说：“这与我们有什么关系？你自己看着办吧！”
5 犹大把银钱丢在圣所里就退了出来，去上吊自杀了。
6 祭司长们捡起银钱，说：“这既然是血钱，不可以放到圣殿奉献里。” 7 他们商议之后，就用那钱买了陶匠的一块地，做为外国人的坟地。 8 因此，那块地就被称为“血田”，直到今天。 9 这就应验了藉着先知耶利米所说的话：
“他们拿了那三十个银钱，就是那人被定的价钱，是以色列子民所定的； 10 他们用这钱买了陶匠的那块地，正如主所指示我的。”[a]
在彼拉多面前受审
11 耶稣站在总督面前，总督问他，说：“你是犹太人的王吗？”
耶稣说：“是你说的。” 12 可是当他被祭司长们和长老们控告的时候，什么都不回应。
13 彼拉多对他说：“他们控告你这么多的事，你没有听见吗？” 14 耶稣连一句话也不回答，以致总督感到非常惊奇。
耶稣或巴拉巴
15 每逢这节日，总督会照惯例，给民众释放一个他们所要的囚犯。 16 那时有一个出名的囚犯，叫巴拉巴。 17 当民众聚集的时候，彼拉多问他们：“你们要我给你们释放哪一个呢？是巴拉巴，还是那称为基督的耶稣？” 18 其实彼拉多知道他们是出于嫉妒才把耶稣交给他的。
19 彼拉多正坐在审判席上，他的妻子派人到他那里说：“这义人的事，你什么也不要管。要知道，我今天因他的缘故，在梦中受了很多苦。”
20 祭司长们和长老们挑唆众人，叫他们要巴拉巴，而除灭耶稣。 21 总督问他们，说：“这两个人中，你们要我给你们释放哪一个呢？”
他们回答说：“巴拉巴！”
22 彼拉多对他们说：“那么，我该怎么处理这称为基督的耶稣呢？”
他们都说：“把他钉上十字架！”
23 彼拉多说：“他到底做了什么恶事呢？”
但他们却越发喊叫说：“把他钉上十字架！”
24 彼拉多知道自己无济于事，反而骚乱倒要发生，就拿水在众人面前洗手，说：“流这人[b]的血，罪不在我，你们自己看着办吧！”
25 全体民众都回答说：“他的血归在我们和我们儿女的身上！” 26 于是彼拉多给他们释放了巴拉巴，然后将耶稣鞭打[c]了，把他交出去钉上十字架。
被士兵戏弄
27 那时，总督的士兵们把耶稣带进总督府，召集了全队士兵在他周围。 28 他们剥下耶稣的衣服，给他套上一件深红色的袍子， 29 用荆棘编了冠冕，戴在他的头上，又把一根芦苇放在他的右手里，然后跪在他面前，戏弄他说：“万岁，犹太人的王！” 30 接着向他吐唾沫，拿芦苇打他的头。 31 他们戏弄完了，就脱下他深红色的袍子，给他穿上他自己的衣服，然后把他带走，要钉上十字架。
被钉在罪犯之间
32 他们出去的时候，遇见一个名叫西门的古利奈人，就强迫这个人来背耶稣的十字架。 33 他们来到一个地方，叫“各各他”——这意思是“骷髅地”； 34 他们把胆汁调和的酒[d]给耶稣喝。耶稣尝了，不肯喝。 35 他们把耶稣钉上十字架以后，抽签分了他的衣服，[e] 36 然后坐在那里看守着他， 37 又在他的头上方，安了他的罪状牌，上面写道：“这是耶稣，犹太人的王。”
38 那时，有两个强盗与耶稣一起被钉十字架，一个在右边，一个在左边。 39 那些路过的人辱骂耶稣，摇着头， 40 说：“你这个要拆毁圣所、三天内又建起来的人哪，救救你自己吧！你如果是神的儿子，就从十字架上下来吧！” 41 同样，祭司长们也与经文士们和长老们[f]一起嘲笑，说： 42 “他救了别人，却不能救自己！他是[g]以色列的王！现在让他从十字架上下来吧，这样我们就信靠他！ 43 他依靠神，如果神喜悦他，就让神现在救他吧！因为他说过‘我是神的儿子。’” 44 与耶稣一起被钉十字架的强盗也同样地责骂他。
耶稣之死
45 从中午十二点[h]起，黑暗笼罩了整个大地，一直到下午三点[i]。 46 下午三点左右，耶稣大声呼叫：“以利，以利！拉玛撒巴克达尼？[j]”——这意思是：“我的神，我的神！你为什么离弃我？”[k]
47 站在那里的一些人听见了，就说：“这个人在呼唤以利亚呢！”
48 其中有一个人立刻跑去，拿了海绵蘸满了酸酒，套在芦苇上，要给他喝。 49 其他的人说：“等着吧，我们看以利亚会不会来救他。”
50 耶稣又大喊一声，就交出了灵魂。 51 忽然，圣所里的幔子从上到下裂成两半。大地震动，岩石裂开。 52 坟墓也开了，许多已睡了的圣徒的身体复活了。 53 耶稣复活以后，他们从坟墓里出来，进了圣城，向许多人显现。
54 百夫长和那些与他一起看守耶稣的人，看见地震和所发生的事，就极其惧怕，说：“这个人真是神的儿子！”
55 那里有许多妇女从远处观看，她们从加利利开始就跟随耶稣，服事他。 56 其中有茉大拉的玛丽亚、雅各和约西[l]的母亲玛丽亚，以及西庇太儿子们的母亲。
安葬
57 到了傍晚，来了一个亚利马太的财主，名叫约瑟，他自己也是耶稣的门徒。 58 他来到彼拉多面前，请求要耶稣的遗体，彼拉多就下令给他。 59 约瑟领了耶稣的遗体，用洁白的细麻布裹好， 60 安放在自己的新墓穴里，这墓穴是他凿在岩石里的。他又滚来一块大石头，堵住墓穴口，就离开了。 61 茉大拉的玛丽亚和另一个玛丽亚在那里，对着坟墓坐着。
严守坟墓
62 第二天，就是预备日的后一天，祭司长们和法利赛人在彼拉多那里聚集， 63 说：“大人，我们想起当那个迷惑人的还活着时曾经说过：‘在第三天我要复活。’ 64 所以，请你下令严密看守那坟墓，一直到第三天，免得他的门徒们来[m]把他偷走，然后对民众说他从死人中复活了，这样，那最后的迷惑就要比先前的更厉害了。”
65 彼拉多对他们说：“你们有一队卫兵，尽你们所能，严密看守吧！” 66 于是，他们带着卫兵去，用印封上墓口的[n]石头，严密看守坟墓。

Llevan a Jesús ante Pilato
(Mr 15:1; Lc 23:1-2; Jn 18:28-32)
27 Por la mañana, todos los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos líderes del pueblo concertaron un plan para dar muerte a Jesús. 2 Lo llevaron atado y se lo entregaron al gobernador Pilato.
Judas se quita la vida
(Hch 1:18-19)
3 Entonces cuando Judas, el que lo había traicionado, vio que habían condenado a Jesús y sintió pesar por lo que había hecho. Así que les devolvió las 30 monedas de plata a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a los ancianos líderes, 4 y les dijo:
—He pecado al entregar a un hombre inocente para que lo maten.
Ellos dijeron:
—¿Qué nos importa? ¡Ese es tu problema!
5 Entonces Judas tiró las monedas de plata en el templo, salió de allí y se ahorcó. 6 Los jefes de los sacerdotes tomaron las monedas y dijeron: «Es en contra de la ley recibir este dinero, pues fue usado para matar a alguien».
7 Así que tomaron una decisión. Con ese dinero compraron el campo del alfarero para usarlo como cementerio para enterrar a los extranjeros que murieran mientras visitaran Jerusalén. 8 Por eso este campo se conoce hasta hoy en día como «Campo de sangre». 9 Así se cumplió lo que había dicho el profeta Jeremías:
«Ellos tomaron 30 monedas de plata. Era la cantidad que el pueblo de Israel había acordado pagar por su vida. 10 Lo usaron para comprar el campo del alfarero, como el Señor me lo había ordenado».[a]
Pilato interroga a Jesús
(Mr 15:2-5; Lc 23:3-5; Jn 18:33-38)
11 Mientras tanto, Jesús se presentó ante el gobernador, y este le preguntó:
—¿Eres tú el rey de los judíos?
Jesús dijo:
—Tú lo has dicho.
12 Pero cuando los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos líderes lo acusaron, no respondió nada. 13 Entonces Pilato le preguntó:
—¿No escuchas todas las acusaciones que están haciendo en tu contra?
14 Pero Jesús no le respondió nada, ni siquiera a una sola acusación. Pilato estaba muy sorprendido.
Jesús condenado a muerte
(Mr 15:6-15; Lc 23:13-25; Jn 18:39-19:16)
15 Ahora bien, era costumbre que durante la fiesta[b], el gobernador dejara libre al preso que pidiera el pueblo. 16 En ese entonces, había un prisionero muy conocido llamado Barrabás[c]. 17 Entonces cuando el pueblo estaba reunido, Pilato les preguntó:
—¿A quién quieren que libere? ¿A Barrabás o a Jesús al que llaman el Mesías?
18 Porque Pilato sabía que habían entregado a Jesús por pura envidia.
19 Cuando Pilato estaba sentado en el tribunal, recibió un mensaje de su esposa que decía: «No le hagas nada a ese hombre inocente. He estado intranquila todo el día porque soñé con él».
20 Pero los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos líderes convencieron a las multitudes para que pidieran a Pilato que pusiera en libertad a Barrabás y ordenara matar a Jesús. 21 El gobernador preguntó:
—¿Cuál de estos dos presos quieren que deje libre?
Ellos contestaron:
—¡A Barrabás!
22 Pilato preguntó otra vez:
—¿Entonces qué debo hacer con Jesús, al que llaman el Mesías?
Todos dijeron:
—¡Crucifícalo!
23 Pilato preguntó:
—¿Por qué? ¿Qué ha hecho de malo?
Pero todos gritaban más fuerte:
—¡Crucifícalo!
24 Pilato se dio cuenta de que no podía hacer nada para cambiar la intención de ellos. Vio que se iba a formar un disturbio, así que agarró un poco de agua y se lavó las manos enfrente de todos y dijo:
—Yo no soy responsable por la muerte de este hombre. Allá ustedes.
25 La gente respondió:
—¡Nosotros y nuestros hijos cargamos con la responsabilidad de su muerte!
26 Entonces Pilato puso en libertad a Barrabás. Luego hizo que le dieran latigazos a Jesús y lo entregó para ser crucificado.
Los soldados se burlan de Jesús
(Mr 15:16-20; Jn 19:2-3)
27 Entonces los soldados del gobernador llevaron a Jesús al palacio. Reunieron a toda la compañía de soldados alrededor de él. 28 Le quitaron la ropa y le pusieron un manto de color morado. 29 Hicieron una corona hecha de espinas, se la colocaron en la cabeza y le pusieron una caña en la mano derecha. Se arrodillaron ante él y se burlaban, diciendo: «¡Viva el rey de los judíos!»
30 Luego le escupieron, tomaron la caña y le pegaron en la cabeza. 31 Cuando acabaron de burlarse de él, le quitaron el manto, le pusieron su ropa y lo sacaron para crucificarlo.
Crucifixión de Jesús
(Mr 15:21-32; Lc 23:26-39; Jn 19:17-19)
32 Al salir encontraron a un hombre de Cirene llamado Simón y lo obligaron a cargar la cruz de Jesús. 33 Llegaron a un sitio llamado «Gólgota» que significa «Lugar de la Calavera». 34 Le dieron a Jesús vino mezclado con hiel[d] para que bebiera, pero después de probarlo no quiso beberlo. 35 Clavaron a Jesús de pies y manos a la cruz y rifaron entre ellos la ropa de Jesús. 36 Luego, se sentaron a vigilarlo. 37 Por encima de su cabeza escribieron un aviso con la razón de su condena: «Este es Jesús, el Rey de los judíos».
38 Ese mismo día dos ladrones fueron crucificados con Jesús, uno a su derecha y otro a su izquierda. 39 La gente que pasaba lo insultaba, meneando la cabeza 40 y diciendo:
—Tú que ibas a destruir el templo y reconstruirlo en tres días, ¡sálvate a ti mismo! Si eres el Hijo de Dios, entonces bájate de esa cruz.
41 También los jefes de los sacerdotes junto con los maestros de la ley y los ancianos líderes se burlaban de él, diciendo:
42 —Salvó a otros, pero no se puede salvar a sí mismo. Si es rey de Israel, que baje de la cruz ahora mismo, y entonces creeremos en él. 43 Como confía en Dios, dejemos que Dios lo rescate si es que lo quiere de verdad. Después de todo, él dijo: “Yo soy el Hijo de Dios”.
44 Los ladrones que estaban crucificados junto a él, también lo insultaban.
Muerte de Jesús
(Mr 15:33-41; Lc 23:44-49; Jn 19:28-30)
45 Desde el mediodía hasta las tres de la tarde, toda la tierra quedó sumida en oscuridad. 46 (A)A eso de las tres, Jesús gritó fuerte: «Elí, Elí, ¿lama sabactani?» que significa: «¡Dios mío, Dios mío! ¿Por qué me has abandonado?»[e]
47 Algunos de los que estaban allí lo oyeron y decían:
—¡Está llamando a Elías![f]
48 Entonces inmediatamente uno de ellos corrió y tomó una esponja. La empapó en vinagre, la puso en un palo y se la ofreció a Jesús para que bebiera. 49 Pero los demás seguían diciendo:
—Déjenlo, vamos a ver si Elías viene a salvarlo.
50 Pero Jesús dio nuevamente un fuerte grito y murió[g]. 51 Al instante, la cortina que estaba dentro del templo se rasgó en dos, de arriba a abajo, y la tierra tembló. Las rocas se partieron, 52 los sepulcros se abrieron y muchos del pueblo de Dios que habían muerto, fueron resucitados. 53 Después de la resurrección de Jesús, dejaron sus sepulcros, fueron a la ciudad santa de Jerusalén y se le aparecieron a mucha gente.
54 El capitán y los que estaban cuidando el cuerpo de Jesús vieron el terremoto y todo lo que pasó, se asustaron mucho y dijeron:
—Este hombre sí era el Hijo de Dios.
55 Muchas mujeres estaban viendo desde lejos. Ellas habían seguido a Jesús desde Galilea para atenderlo. 56 Entre ellas estaban María Magdalena, María la mamá de Santiago y José, y la mamá de los hijos de Zebedeo[h].
Jesús es sepultado
(Mr 15:42-47; Lc 23:50-56; Jn 19:38-42)
57 Al atardecer, un hombre rico llamado José de Arimatea, vino a Jerusalén. Él también se había convertido en seguidor de Jesús. 58 Fue a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. Pilato ordenó que se lo entregaran. 59 José llevó el cuerpo y lo envolvió en una sábana limpia. 60 Después puso el cuerpo en un sepulcro nuevo que había sido cavado en la roca. Luego corrió una piedra muy grande hasta la entrada del sepulcro y se fue. 61 María Magdalena y la otra María estaban sentadas al frente del sepulcro.
El sepulcro es puesto bajo vigilancia
62 Al día siguiente, después del día de la preparación, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los fariseos se reunieron con Pilato, 63 y le dijeron:
—Señor, le recordamos que en vida ese engañador dijo: “Dentro de tres días voy a resucitar”. 64 Ordene, pues, que vigilen el sepulcro hasta el tercer día para que así sus seguidores no puedan venir y robar el cuerpo. Porque después podrían decirle a la gente: “Él ha resucitado de la muerte”. Este engaño sería peor que el primero.
65 Pilato les dijo:
—Pueden disponer una guardia de soldados. Vayan y aseguren el sepulcro lo mejor que puedan.
66 Entonces se fueron y aseguraron el sepulcro, sellaron la piedra y colocaron guardias.

Jesús es entregado a Pilato(A)
27 Cuando amaneció, todos los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos de los judíos se pusieron de acuerdo en un plan para matar a Jesús. 2 Lo llevaron atado y se lo entregaron a Pilato, el gobernador romano.
La muerte de Judas
3 Judas, el que había traicionado a Jesús, al ver que lo habían condenado, tuvo remordimientos y devolvió las treinta monedas de plata a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a los ancianos, 4 diciéndoles:
—He pecado entregando a la muerte a un hombre inocente.
Pero ellos le contestaron:
—¿Y eso qué nos importa a nosotros? ¡Eso es cosa tuya!
5 Entonces Judas arrojó las monedas en el templo, y fue y se ahorcó.
6 Los jefes de los sacerdotes recogieron aquel dinero, y dijeron:
—Este dinero está manchado de sangre; no podemos ponerlo en el cofre de las ofrendas.
7 Así que tomaron el acuerdo de comprar con él un terreno llamado el Campo del Alfarero, para tener un lugar donde enterrar a los extranjeros. 8 Por eso, aquel terreno se llama hasta el día de hoy Campo de Sangre. 9 Así se cumplió lo que había dicho el profeta Jeremías: «Tomaron las treinta monedas de plata, el precio que los israelitas le habían puesto, 10 y con ellas compraron el campo del alfarero, tal como me lo ordenó el Señor.»
Jesús ante Pilato(B)
11 Jesús fue llevado ante el gobernador, que le preguntó:
—¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos?
—Tú lo has dicho —contestó Jesús.
12 Mientras los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos lo acusaban, Jesús no respondía nada. 13 Por eso Pilato le preguntó:
—¿No oyes todo lo que están diciendo contra ti?
14 Pero Jesús no le contestó ni una sola palabra; de manera que el gobernador se quedó muy extrañado.
Jesús es sentenciado a muerte(C)
15 Durante la fiesta, el gobernador acostumbraba dejar libre un preso, el que la gente escogiera. 16 Había entonces un preso famoso llamado Jesús Barrabás; 17 y estando ellos reunidos, Pilato les preguntó:
—¿A quién quieren ustedes que les ponga en libertad: a Jesús Barrabás, o a Jesús, el que llaman el Mesías?
18 Porque se había dado cuenta de que lo habían entregado por envidia.
19 Mientras Pilato estaba sentado en el tribunal, su esposa mandó a decirle: «No te metas con ese hombre justo, porque anoche tuve un sueño horrible por causa suya.»
20 Pero los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos convencieron a la multitud de que pidiera la libertad de Barrabás y la muerte de Jesús. 21 El gobernador les preguntó otra vez:
—¿A cuál de los dos quieren ustedes que les ponga en libertad?
Ellos dijeron:
—¡A Barrabás!
22 Pilato les preguntó:
—¿Y qué voy a hacer con Jesús, el que llaman el Mesías?
Todos contestaron:
—¡Crucifícalo!
23 Pilato les dijo:
—Pues ¿qué mal ha hecho?
Pero ellos volvieron a gritar:
—¡Crucifícalo!
24 Cuando Pilato vio que no conseguía nada, sino que el alboroto era cada vez mayor, mandó traer agua y se lavó las manos delante de todos, diciendo:
—Yo no soy responsable de la muerte de este hombre; es cosa de ustedes.
25 Toda la gente contestó:
—¡Nosotros y nuestros hijos nos hacemos responsables de su muerte!
26 Entonces Pilato dejó libre a Barrabás; luego mandó azotar a Jesús y lo entregó para que lo crucificaran.
27 Los soldados del gobernador llevaron a Jesús al palacio y reunieron toda la tropa alrededor de él. 28 Le quitaron su ropa, lo vistieron con una capa roja 29 y le pusieron en la cabeza una corona tejida de espinas y una vara en la mano derecha. Luego se arrodillaron delante de él, y burlándose le decían:
—¡Viva el Rey de los judíos!
30 También lo escupían, y con la misma vara le golpeaban la cabeza. 31 Después de burlarse así de él, le quitaron la capa roja, le pusieron su propia ropa y se lo llevaron para crucificarlo.
Jesús es crucificado(D)
32 Al salir de allí, encontraron a un hombre llamado Simón, natural de Cirene, a quien obligaron a cargar con la cruz de Jesús.
33 Cuando llegaron a un sitio llamado Gólgota, (es decir, «Lugar de la Calavera»), 34 le dieron a beber vino mezclado con hiel; pero Jesús, después de probarlo, no lo quiso beber.
35 Cuando ya lo habían crucificado, los soldados echaron suertes para repartirse entre sí la ropa de Jesús. 36 Luego se sentaron allí para vigilarlo. 37 Y por encima de su cabeza pusieron un letrero, donde estaba escrita la causa de su condena. El letrero decía: «Éste es Jesús, el Rey de los judíos.»
38 También fueron crucificados con él dos bandidos, uno a su derecha y otro a su izquierda. 39 Los que pasaban lo insultaban, meneando la cabeza 40 y diciendo:
—¡Tú ibas a derribar el templo y a reconstruirlo en tres días! ¡Si eres Hijo de Dios, sálvate a ti mismo y bájate de la cruz!
41 De la misma manera se burlaban de él los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley, junto con los ancianos. Decían:
42 —Salvó a otros, pero a sí mismo no puede salvarse. Es el Rey de Israel: ¡pues que baje de la cruz, y creeremos en él! 43 Ha puesto su confianza en Dios: ¡pues que Dios lo salve ahora, si de veras lo quiere! ¿No nos ha dicho que es Hijo de Dios?
44 Y hasta los bandidos que estaban crucificados con él, lo insultaban.
Muerte de Jesús(E)
45 Desde el mediodía y hasta las tres de la tarde, toda la tierra quedó en oscuridad. 46 A esa misma hora, Jesús gritó con fuerza: «Elí, Elí, ¿lemá sabactani?» (es decir: «Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado?»)
47 Algunos de los que estaban allí, lo oyeron y dijeron:
—Éste está llamando al profeta Elías.
48 Al momento, uno de ellos fue corriendo en busca de una esponja, la empapó en vino agrio, la ató a una caña y se la acercó para que bebiera. 49 Pero los otros dijeron:
—Déjalo, a ver si Elías viene a salvarlo.
50 Jesús dio otra vez un fuerte grito, y murió. 51 En aquel momento el velo del templo se rasgó en dos, de arriba abajo. La tierra tembló, las rocas se partieron 52 y los sepulcros se abrieron; y hasta muchas personas santas, que habían muerto, volvieron a la vida. 53 Entonces salieron de sus tumbas, después de la resurrección de Jesús, y entraron en la santa ciudad de Jerusalén, donde mucha gente los vio.
54 Cuando el capitán y los que estaban con él vigilando a Jesús vieron el terremoto y todo lo que estaba pasando, se llenaron de miedo y dijeron:
—¡De veras este hombre era Hijo de Dios!
55 Estaban allí, mirando de lejos, muchas mujeres que habían seguido a Jesús desde Galilea y que lo habían ayudado. 56 Entre ellas se encontraban María Magdalena, María la madre de Santiago y de José, y la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo.
Jesús es sepultado(F)
57 Cuando ya anochecía, llegó un hombre rico llamado José, natural de Arimatea, que también se había hecho seguidor de Jesús. 58 José fue a ver a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. Pilato ordenó que se lo dieran, 59 y José tomó el cuerpo, lo envolvió en una sábana de lino limpia 60 y lo puso en un sepulcro nuevo, de su propiedad, que había hecho cavar en la roca. Después de tapar la entrada del sepulcro con una gran piedra, se fue. 61 Pero María Magdalena y la otra María se quedaron sentadas frente al sepulcro.
La guardia ante el sepulcro de Jesús
62 Al día siguiente, es decir, el sábado, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los fariseos fueron juntos a ver a Pilato, 63 y le dijeron:
—Señor, recordamos que aquel mentiroso, cuando aún vivía, dijo que después de tres días iba a resucitar. 64 Por eso, mande usted asegurar el sepulcro hasta el tercer día, no sea que vengan sus discípulos y roben el cuerpo, y después digan a la gente que ha resucitado. En tal caso, la última mentira sería peor que la primera.
65 Pilato les dijo:
—Ahí tienen ustedes soldados de guardia. Vayan y aseguren el sepulcro lo mejor que puedan.
66 Fueron, pues, y aseguraron el sepulcro poniendo un sello sobre la piedra que lo tapaba; y dejaron allí los soldados de guardia.

2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

Judas Hangs Himself
27 Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.(A) 2 So they bound him, led him away and handed him over(B) to Pilate the governor.(C)
3 When Judas, who had betrayed him,(D) saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver(E) to the chief priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”
“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”(F)
5 So Judas threw the money into the temple(G) and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.(H)
6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. 8 That is why it has been called the Field of Blood(I) to this day. 9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:(J) “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10 and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”[a](K)
Jesus Before Pilate(L)
11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”(M)
“You have said so,” Jesus replied.
12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.(N) 13 Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?”(O) 14 But Jesus made no reply,(P) not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
15 Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner(Q) chosen by the crowd. 16 At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus[b] Barabbas. 17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”(R) 18 For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.
19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat,(S) his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent(T) man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream(U) because of him.”
20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.(V)
21 “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.
“Barabbas,” they answered.
22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?”(W) Pilate asked.
They all answered, “Crucify him!”
23 “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar(X) was starting, he took water and washed his hands(Y) in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,”(Z) he said. “It is your responsibility!”(AA)
25 All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!”(AB)
26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged,(AC) and handed him over to be crucified.
The Soldiers Mock Jesus(AD)
27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium(AE) and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,(AF) 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.(AG) 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.(AH) 31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.(AI)
The Crucifixion of Jesus(AJ)
32 As they were going out,(AK) they met a man from Cyrene,(AL) named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.(AM) 33 They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”).(AN) 34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall;(AO) but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(AP) 36 And sitting down, they kept watch(AQ) over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.
38 Two rebels were crucified with him,(AR) one on his right and one on his left. 39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads(AS) 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,(AT) save yourself!(AU) Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”(AV) 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel!(AW) Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe(AX) in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him(AY) now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
The Death of Jesus(AZ)
45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness(BA) came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[c] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[d](BB)
47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.”
48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,(BC) put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49 The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.(BD)
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple(BE) was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split(BF) 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[e] went into the holy city(BG) and appeared to many people.
54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding(BH) Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”(BI)
55 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.(BJ) 56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph,[f] and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.(BK)
The Burial of Jesus(BL)
57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and placed it in his own new tomb(BM) that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
The Guard at the Tomb
62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63 “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’(BN) 64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body(BO) and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
65 “Take a guard,”(BP) Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal(BQ) on the stone(BR) and posting the guard.(BS)
