²耶穌禁食了四十晝夜後，很饑餓。 ³試探者前來對祂說：「如果你是上帝的兒子，可以叫這些石頭變成食物。」

⁴耶穌回答說：「聖經上說，『人活著不是單靠食物，乃是靠上帝口中的每一句話。』」

²And after fasting ^(A)forty days and forty nights, he ^(B)was hungry. ³And ^(C)the tempter came and said to him, “If you are ^(D)the Son of God, command ^(E)these stones to become loaves of bread.” ⁴But he answered, ^(F)“It is written,

^(G)“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
