教导门徒祷告
11 有一天，耶稣在某地祷告完毕，有个门徒对祂说：“主啊，请教导我们祷告，像约翰教他的门徒一样。”
2 耶稣对他们说：“你们应该这样祷告，
“‘天父，愿人都尊崇你的圣名，
愿你的国度降临，
愿你的旨意在地上成就，
就像在天上成就一样[a]。
3 愿你天天赐给我们日用的饮食。
4 求你饶恕我们的罪，
因为我们也饶恕那些亏欠我们的人。
不要让我们遇见诱惑，
拯救我们脱离那恶者[b]。’”
5 耶稣又对他们说：“假设你在半夜跑去朋友家请求说，‘朋友，请借给我三个饼吧， 6 因为有一位朋友远道而来，我家没有什么可以招待他。’ 7 那个人在屋里应声说，‘请别打搅我，门已经锁上了，我和孩子们也已经上床了，我不能起来给你拿饼。’
8 “我告诉你们，那人虽不念朋友之情，但是倘若你不肯罢休，继续请求，他最终会起来满足你的愿望。
9 “我告诉你们，祈求，就会给你们；寻找，就会寻见；叩门，就会给你们开门。 10 因为凡祈求的，就得到；寻找的，就寻见；叩门的，就给他开门。
11 “你们中间做父亲的，如果孩子要饼，你会给他石头吗？[c]要鱼，你会给他蛇吗？ 12 要鸡蛋，你会给他蝎子吗？ 13 你们虽然邪恶，尚且知道把好东西给儿女，天父岂不更要赐圣灵给那些求祂的人吗？”
耶稣和别西卜
14 有一次，耶稣赶出一个使人哑巴的鬼。鬼一出去，哑巴就能说话了，大家都很惊奇。 15 有人却说：“祂是靠鬼王别西卜赶鬼。” 16 还有些人想试探耶稣，要求祂行个神迹证明自己是上帝派来的。
17 耶稣知道他们的心思，就说：“一个国内部自相纷争，必然灭亡；一个家内部自相纷争，必然崩溃。 18 同样，若撒旦内部自相纷争，它的国怎能维持呢？你们说我是靠别西卜赶鬼， 19 若我是靠别西卜赶鬼，你们的子弟又是靠谁赶鬼呢？因此，他们要审判你们。 20 但若我是靠上帝的能力赶鬼，就是上帝的国已降临在你们中间了。
21 “壮汉全副武装地看守自己的住宅，他的财物会很安全。 22 但是，来了一个比他更强壮的人，把他制服后，夺去他所依靠的武装，并把他抢来的东西分给了人。 23 谁不与我为友，就是与我为敌；谁不和我一起收聚，就是故意拆散。
24 “有个污鬼离开了它以前所附的人，在干旱无水之地四处游荡，寻找安歇之处，却没有找到。于是它说，‘我要回到老地方。’ 25 它回去后，看见里面打扫得又干净又整齐， 26 就去带来了七个比自己更邪恶的鬼一起住在那里。那人的下场比从前更惨了。”
谁更有福
27 耶稣说话的时候，人群中有个妇人高喊：“生你养你的人真有福啊！”
28 耶稣回答说：“但那听了上帝的话又去遵行的人更有福。”
可悲的邪恶世代
29 这时聚集的人越来越多，耶稣说：“这是一个邪恶的世代，人们只想看神迹，但除了约拿的神迹以外，再没有神迹给他们看。 30 正如约拿成了尼尼微人的神迹，人子也要成为这世代的神迹。
31 “在审判的日子，南方的女王和这世代的人都要起来[d]，她要定这个世代的罪，因为她曾不远千里来听所罗门王的智言慧语。看啊！这里有一位比所罗门王更伟大。
32 “在审判的日子，尼尼微人和这世代的人都要起来，尼尼微人要定这个世代的罪，因为他们听到约拿的宣告，就悔改了。看啊！这里有一位比约拿更伟大。
灯的比喻
33 “没有人点了灯却将它放在地窖里或斗底下，人总是把灯放在灯台上，让进来的人可以看见光。 34 你的眼睛就是身体的灯，你的眼睛明亮，全身就光明；你的眼睛昏花，全身就黑暗。 35 因此要小心，不要让你心里的光变为黑暗。 36 如果你全身光明、毫无黑暗，你整个人就熠熠生辉，好像有灯光照在你身上。”
谴责法利赛人
37 耶稣说完这番话后，有一个法利赛人来请祂吃饭，祂便应邀入席。 38 这位法利赛人看见耶稣饭前没有行犹太人洗手的礼仪，十分诧异。 39 主对他说：“你们法利赛人洗净杯盘的外面，你们里面却充满了贪婪和邪恶。 40 愚蠢的人啊，人里外不都是上帝所创造的吗？ 41 只要你们发自内心地去施舍，一切对你们都是洁净的。
42 “法利赛人啊，你们有祸了！你们将薄荷、茴香、各样蔬菜献上十分之一，却忽略了上帝的公义和仁爱。后者是你们本该做的，前者也不可忽略。
43 “法利赛人啊，你们有祸了！你们喜欢在会堂里坐首位，又喜欢在街市上听到别人的问候。 44 你们有祸了！因为你们就像没有墓碑的坟墓，人们从上面走过也不知道。”
谴责律法教师
45 一位律法教师对耶稣说：“老师，你这话把我们也侮辱了！”
46 耶稣回答说：“你们这些律法教师也有祸了！你们把沉重难负的担子放在别人肩上，自己却连一根指头也不肯动。
47 “你们有祸了，你们为先知修造坟墓，而他们正是被你们祖先杀害的！ 48 所以你们是见证人，你们赞同祖先的行为，因为他们杀了先知，你们为先知造坟墓。 49 因此，充满智慧的上帝说，‘我要差遣先知和使徒到他们那里，有些要被杀害，有些要遭迫害’， 50-51 使创世以来，自亚伯一直到在祭坛和圣所之间被杀的撒迦利亚等众先知的血债，都由这个世代承担。我实在告诉你们，这些罪责都要由这个世代承担。
52 “律法教师啊，你们有祸了！你们拿走了知识的钥匙，自己不进去，还阻挡那些正要进去的人。”
53 耶稣离开那里后，法利赛人和律法教师开始激烈地反对祂，用各种问题刁难祂， 54 伺机找把柄陷害祂。

11 Történt egyszer, hogy valahol imádkozott, és mikor befejezte, így szólt hozzá egyik tanítványa: "Uram, taníts minket imádkozni, mint ahogy János is tanította a tanítványait."
2 Ő pedig ezt mondta nekik: "Amikor imádkoztok, ezt mondjátok: Atyánk, szenteltessék meg a te neved. Jöjjön el a te országod.
3 A mi mindennapi kenyerünket add meg nekünk naponként.
4 És bocsásd meg a mi bűneinket, mert mi is megbocsátunk minden ellenünk vétkezőnek. És ne vígy minket kísértésbe."
5 Azután így szólt hozzájuk: "Ki az közületek, akinek van egy barátja, és elmegy hozzá éjfélkor, és ezt mondja neki: Barátom, adj nekem kölcsön három kenyeret,
6 mert útról érkezett egy barátom, és nincs mit elébe tegyek;
7 - és az így válaszolna belülről: Ne zaklass engem, az ajtó már be van zárva, és velem együtt gyermekeim is ágyban vannak; nem kelhetek fel, hogy adjak neked!
8 Mondom nektek, ha nem is kelne fel, és nem is adna neki azért, mert barátja, tolakodása miatt fel fog kelni, és megadja neki, amire szüksége van."
9 "Én is azt mondom nektek: kérjetek, és adatik, keressetek, és találtok, zörgessetek, és megnyittatik nektek.
10 Mert mindaz, aki kér, kap; aki keres, talál; és aki zörget, annak megnyittatik.

14 Egyszer azután egy néma ördögöt űzött ki, és amikor kiment az ördög, megszólalt a néma. A sokaság pedig elcsodálkozott.
15 Néhányan közülük azonban így szóltak: "Belzebubnak, az ördögök fejedelmének segítségével űzi ki az ördögöket."
16 Mások pedig kísértették, és mennyei jelt követeltek tőle.
17 Ő azonban ismerve gondolataikat, ezt mondta nekik: "Minden ország, amely meghasonlik önmagával, elpusztul, és ház házra omlik.
18 Ha a Sátán is meghasonlik önmagával, miképpen maradhat fenn az országa? Ti azt mondjátok, hogy én Belzebub segítségével űzöm ki az ördögöket.
19 De ha én Belzebub segítségével űzöm ki az ördögöket, a ti fiaitok kinek a segítségével űzik ki azokat? Ezért ők lesznek a bíráitok.

21 Amikor az erős fegyveres őrzi a maga palotáját, biztonságban van a vagyona.
22 De ha nála erősebb tör ellene, és legyőzi őt, akkor elveszi fegyverzetét, amelyben bízott, és szétosztja a zsákmányt.
23 Aki nincs velem, ellenem van, és aki nem gyűjt velem, tékozol."
24 "Amikor a tisztátalan lélek kimegy az emberből, víz nélküli helyeken bolyong nyugalmat keresve, és amikor nem talál, akkor így szól: Visszatérek házamba, ahonnan kijöttem.
25 Amikor odaér, kisöpörve és felékesítve találja.
26 Aztán elmegy, vesz maga mellé még másik hét, magánál is gonoszabb lelket, bemennek és ott laknak. Annak az embernek az utóbbi állapota pedig rosszabb lesz az elsőnél."
27 Amikor ezt mondta, a sokaságból egy asszony felemelte szavát, és így szólt hozzá: "Boldog az az anyaméh, amely téged hordozott, és boldogok azok az emlők, amelyek tápláltak!"
28 Erre ő így felelt: "De még boldogabbak azok, akik hallgatják az Isten beszédét, és megtartják."
Jónás jele(C)
29 Amikor pedig egyre nagyobb sokaság gyülekezett hozzá, elkezdett beszélni: "Ez a nemzedék gonosz nemzedék: jelt követel, de nem adatik neki más jel, mint a Jónás próféta jele.
30 Mert amiképpen Jónás jellé vált a niniveiek számára, úgy lesz az Emberfia is jellé ennek a nemzedéknek.
31 Dél királynője feltámad az ítéletkor e nemzedék férfiaival, és elítéli őket, mert ő eljött a föld végső határáról, hogy meghallgassa Salamon bölcsességét; de íme, itt nagyobb van Salamonnál.
32 A ninivei férfiak feltámadnak az ítéletkor ezzel a nemzedékkel, és elítélik, mert ők megtértek Jónás prédikálására; de íme, itt nagyobb van Jónásnál."
A lámpás és a szem(D)
33 "Aki lámpást gyújt, nem teszi rejtett helyre, sem véka alá, hanem a lámpatartóra, hogy a belépők lássák a világosságot.
34 A test lámpása a szem. Ha a szemed tiszta, az egész tested világos, de ha gonosz, a tested is sötét.
35 Vigyázz tehát, hogy a benned levő világosság sötétséggé ne legyen!
36 Ha tehát az egész tested világos, és nincsen benne egyetlen sötét rész sem, akkor olyan világos lesz az egész, mint amikor a lámpás megvilágít téged a fényével."
Jézus beszéde a farizeusok és a törvénytudók ellen(E)
37 Beszéd közben egy farizeus arra kérte őt, hogy ebédeljen nála. Jézus bement, és asztalhoz telepedett.
38 A farizeus pedig elcsodálkozott, amikor meglátta, hogy ebéd előtt nem mosdott meg.
39 Az Úr azonban ezt mondta neki: "Ti farizeusok a pohár és a tál külsejét megtisztítjátok, de belül telve vagytok rablásvággyal és gonoszsággal.
40 Esztelenek! Aki megalkotta a külsőt, nem az alkotta-e meg a belsőt is?
41 Azt adjátok oda alamizsnául, ami belül van, és minden tiszta lesz nektek."
42 "De jaj nektek, farizeusok, mert tizedet adtok a mentából, a kaporból és minden veteményből, de elhanyagoljátok az igazságos ítéletet és az Isten szeretetét, pedig ezeket kellene cselekedni, és amazokat sem elhanyagolni!
43 Jaj nektek, farizeusok, mert szeretitek a főhelyet a zsinagógában, és a köszöntéseket a tereken!
44 Jaj nektek, mert olyanok vagytok, mint a jeltelen sírok: az emberek mit sem sejtve járnak felettük!
45 Ekkor megszólalt egy törvénytudó, és ezt mondta neki: "Mester, amikor ezt mondod, minket is megbántasz."
46 De ő így válaszolt: "Jaj nektek is, törvénytudók, mert megterhelitek az embereket elhordozhatatlan terhekkel, de magatok egyetlen ujjal sem érintitek azokat.
47 Jaj nektek, mert síremlékeket építetek a prófétáknak, pedig atyáitok ölték meg őket.
48 Tehát egyetértetek atyáitok tetteivel, és helyeslitek azokat, hiszen azok megölték őket, ti pedig síremlékeiket építitek.
49 Ezért mondta az Isten bölcsessége is: Küldök hozzájuk prófétákat és apostolokat, és közülük némelyeket megölnek és üldöznek,
50 hogy számot adjon ez a nemzedék minden próféta véréért, amelyet kiontottak a világ kezdete óta,
51 Ábel vérétől Zakariás véréig, aki az áldozati oltár és a templom között pusztult el. Bizony, mondom néktek, számot kell adnia ennek a nemzedéknek.

11 Однажды Иса молился, и когда Он закончил, один из учеников попросил Его:
– Повелитель, научи нас молиться, как и Яхия научил своих учеников.
2 Он сказал им:
– Когда вы молитесь, говорите так:
Небесный Отец,
пусть прославится имя Твоё!
Пусть наступит Царство Твоё!
3 Хлеб наш насущный давай нам каждый день,
4 и прости нам грехи наши,
ведь и мы прощаем всем должникам нашим.
Не дай нам поддаться искушению.[a]
5 Потом Иса сказал им:
– Вряд ли у кого-либо из вас есть друг, который поступает следующим образом: например, приходит к нему в полночь товарищ и просит: «Друг, одолжи мне три лепёшки. 6 Ко мне с дороги заехал гость, и мне нечего ему предложить». 7 А тот, находясь в доме, отвечает: «Не беспокой меня. Дверь уже заперта, дети мои со мною в постели, не могу я сейчас встать и дать тебе хлеба». 8 Говорю вам, что даже если он не встанет и не даст ему по дружбе, ему всё-таки придётся сделать то, о чём его попросили, только чтобы не осрамиться[b].
9 Поэтому Я говорю вам: просите – и вам дадут, ищите – и найдёте, стучите – и вам откроют. 10 Потому что каждый, кто просит, получает, и кто ищет, находит, и тому, кто стучит, откроют.
11 Есть ли среди вас такой отец, который даст своему сыну змею, когда тот попросит рыбы? 12 Или, если тот попросит яйцо, даст ему скорпиона? 13 Если вы, будучи злы, умеете давать своим детям благие дары, то тем более Небесный Отец даст Святого Духа тем, кто просит у Него!
Иса Масих изгоняет демонов силой Всевышнего(B)
14 Однажды Иса изгнал демона немоты. И когда демон вышел, человек, который был нем, заговорил. Люди удивлялись. 15 Но некоторые говорили:
– Он изгоняет демонов силой Баал-Зевула (сатаны), повелителя демонов.
16 Другие, желая испытать Ису, попросили, чтобы Он показал им знамение с неба. 17 Но Иса, зная их мысли, сказал им:
– Любое царство, разделившееся на враждующие части, приходит в запустение, и дом, где есть распря, рушится. 18 И если сатана враждует против самого себя, то как устоит его царство? Я говорю это потому, что вы заявляете, будто Я изгоняю демонов силой Баал-Зевула. 19 Обвиняя Меня в том, что Я изгоняю демонов силой Баал-Зевула, вы, тем самым, обвиняете и ваших последователей, которые также изгоняют демонов. Так что они будут вам судьями. 20 Но если Я изгоняю демонов властью Всевышнего, то это значит, что Всевышний уже устанавливает среди вас Своё Царство.
21 Когда сильный и хорошо вооружённый человек охраняет свой дом, то его имущество в безопасности. 22 Но если кто-то более сильный нападёт и одолеет его, то он заберёт оружие, на которое полагался хозяин, и разделит добычу.
23 Кто не со Мной, тот против Меня, и кто не собирает со Мной, тот растрачивает.
Возвращение нечистого духа(C)
24 – Когда нечистый дух выходит из человека, то он скитается по безводным местам, ища место для отдыха, и не находит его. Тогда он говорит: «Возвращусь-ка я в дом, из которого вышел». 25 Когда он возвращается, то находит дом чисто выметенным и убранным. 26 Тогда он идёт и берёт семь других духов, ещё более злых, чем он сам, и они приходят и поселяются там. И это для человека ещё хуже того, что было вначале.
Истинное благословение
27 Иса ещё говорил, когда одна женщина из толпы крикнула:
– Благословенна та мать, что родила Тебя и выкормила!
28 Иса ответил:
– Благословеннее те, кто слышит слово Всевышнего и исполняет его.
Знамение пророка Юнуса(D)
29 Когда людей собралось ещё больше, Иса начал говорить:
– Это поколение – злое. Оно ищет знамения, но им не будет дано никакого знамения, кроме знамения пророка Юнуса. 30 И как Юнус стал знамением для жителей Ниневии, так и Ниспосланный как Человек станет знамением для этого поколения.[c] 31 Царица Юга[d] встанет в Судный день и обвинит людей этого поколения, потому что она приходила с другого конца света послушать мудрость царя Сулеймана. Сейчас же с вами Тот, Кто больше Сулеймана. 32 Жители Ниневии встанут в Судный день и обвинят это поколение, потому что они покаялись от проповеди Юнуса.[e] Сейчас же с вами Тот, Кто больше Юнуса.
О внутреннем свете(E)
33 – Никто, зажёгши светильник, не ставит его в погреб или под горшок, наоборот, его ставят на подставку, чтобы все входящие видели свет. 34 Твой глаз – светильник твоего тела. Когда твой глаз ясен[f] (то есть если ты щедр), тогда и всё твоё тело полно света. Если же у тебя глаз замутнён[g] (то есть когда ты скуп), то и всё твоё тело темно. 35 Так что смотри, не тьма ли тот свет, который внутри тебя. 36 Итак, если всё твоё тело полно света и в нём нет ни одной тёмной части, то оно всё будет светло, как бывает, когда светильник освещает тебя сиянием.
Обличение религиозных вождей(F)
37 Когда Иса так говорил, один блюститель Закона пригласил Его к себе на обед. Иса пришёл и возлёг у стола. 38 Блюстителя Закона удивило, что Он не совершил перед едой ритуального омовения.[h] 39 Но Повелитель сказал ему:
– Вот вы, блюстители Закона, очищаете чаши и тарелки только снаружи, в то время как внутри вы полны алчности и злобы. 40 Глупцы! Разве Тот, Кто сотворил внешнее, не сотворил и внутреннее? 41 Что же касается внутреннего, то давайте милостыню,[i] и тогда всё у вас будет чисто.
42 – Но горе вам, блюстители Закона, потому что вы даёте десятую часть с мяты, руты и с других трав, а справедливостью и любовью Всевышнего вы пренебрегаете. И то нужно делать, и другого не оставлять.
43 – Горе вам, блюстители Закона, потому что вы любите занимать почётные места в молитвенных домах и любите, когда вас приветствуют в людных местах.
44 – Горе вам, вы подобны никак не обозначенным могилам, по которым люди ходят, даже не подозревая об их существовании.
45 Один из учителей Таурата сказал Ему:
– Учитель, говоря это, Ты и нас обижаешь.
46 Иса ответил:
– Горе и вам, учители Таурата, потому что вы взваливаете на людей ноши, которые невозможно нести, а сами и пальцем не шевельнёте, чтобы помочь им.
47 – Горе вам, потому что вы строите надгробные памятники пророкам, которых убили ваши предки. 48 Вы сами свидетельствуете о том, что одобряете действия ваших предков: те убивали пророков, а вы строите им надгробные памятники. 49 Поэтому и Мудрость Всевышнего[j] сказала: «Я пошлю к ним пророков и посланников, но они одних убьют, а других будут преследовать». 50 Поэтому нынешнее поколение понесёт ответственность за кровь всех пророков, пролитую от создания мира, 51 от крови Авеля и до крови Закарии, убитого во дворе храма, возле жертвенника.[k] Да, говорю вам, это поколение ответит за всё.
52 – Горе вам, учители Таурата, потому что вы присвоили ключ знания. Но и сами не вошли, и тем, кто хотел войти, воспрепятствовали.
53 Когда Иса вышел из дома, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона обрушились на Него с яростными обвинениями и каверзными вопросами. 54 Они ставили Ему ловушки, пытаясь поймать на слове.

11 One day Jesus was praying(C) in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord,(D) teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:
“‘Father,[a]
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom(E) come.[b]
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c](F)
And lead us not into temptation.[d]’”(G)
5 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity[e] he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.(H)
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you;(I) seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Jesus and Beelzebul(J)(K)
14 Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.(L) 15 But some of them said, “By Beelzebul,(M) the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”(N) 16 Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.(O)
17 Jesus knew their thoughts(P) and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. 18 If Satan(Q) is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. 19 Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God,(R) then the kingdom of God(S) has come upon you.
21 “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. 22 But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.
23 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.(T)
24 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ 25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”(U)
27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”(V)
28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God(W) and obey it.”(X)
The Sign of Jonah(Y)
29 As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign,(Z) but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.(AA) 30 For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. 31 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom;(AB) and now something greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah;(AC) and now something greater than Jonah is here.
The Lamp of the Body(AD)
33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.(AE) 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy,[g] your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy,[h] your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”
Woes on the Pharisees and the Experts in the Law
37 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table.(AF) 38 But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.(AG)
39 Then the Lord(AH) said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.(AI) 40 You foolish people!(AJ) Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor,(AK) and everything will be clean for you.(AL)
42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth(AM) of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God.(AN) You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.(AO)
43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.(AP)
44 “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves,(AQ) which people walk over without knowing it.”
45 One of the experts in the law(AR) answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”
46 Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.(AS)
47 “Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them. 48 So you testify that you approve of what your ancestors did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.(AT) 49 Because of this, God in his wisdom(AU) said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’(AV) 50 Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel(AW) to the blood of Zechariah,(AX) who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.(AY)
52 “Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”(AZ)
53 When Jesus went outside, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, 54 waiting to catch him in something he might say.(BA)

23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.

48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
