16 (A)Корей, син на Ицхара, син на Каата, син Левиев, Датан и Авирон, синове на Елиава, и Авнан, син на Фалета, синове Рувимови,
2 (B)въстанаха против Моисея заедно с двеста и петдесет мъже от синовете Израилеви, началници на народа, призовавани на събранията, мъже именити.
3 (C)И събраха се против Моисея и Аарона и им рекоха: стига ви толкоз; цялото общество, всички са свети, и между тях е Господ! а вие защо се поставяте по-горе от народа Господен?
4 (D)Като чу това, Моисей падна ничком
5 и каза на Корея и на всичките му съучастници, думайки: утре ще покаже Господ, кой е Негов, и кой е свет, за да го приближи към Себе Си; и когото Той избере, него и ще приближи към Себе Си;
6 ето какво да направите: Корее и всички негови съучастници, вземете си кадилниците
7 и утре турете в тях огън и сипете в тях кадиво пред Господа; когото Господ избере, той и ще бъде свет. Стига ви толкоз, Левиеви синове!
8 И рече Моисей на Корея: слушайте, Левиеви синове!
9 (E)Малко ли ви е това, дето Бог Израилев ви е отделил от израилското общество и ви е приближил към Себе Си, за да прислужвате при скинията Господня и да стоите пред народа (Господен), служейки за тях?
10 Той приближи тебе и заедно с тебе всичките ти братя, Левиеви синове, а вие ламтите още и за свещенство.
11 (F)И тъй, ти и цялата ти дружина сте се събрали против Господа. Какво е Аарон, та роптаете против него?
12 И Моисей прати да повикат Датана и Авирона, Елиавови синове. Но те казаха: няма да идем!
13 малко ли ти е, че ни изведе из земята, дето тече мед и мляко, за да ни погубиш в пустинята, а искаш още да господаруваш над нас?
14 (G)Заведе ли ни в земята, дето тече мед и мляко, и даде ли ни да владеем ниви и лозя? или искаш да извадиш очите на тия люде? Няма да идем!
15 (H)Моисей се ядоса твърде много и рече Господу: не обръщай погледа Си към техния принос; никому от тях не съм взел нито осел и никому от тях не съм сторил зло.
16 И рече Моисей на Корея: утре ти и цялата ти дружина застанете пред лицето Господне, ти, те и Аарон;
17 па всички вземете кадилниците си, и сипете в тях кадиво, и донесете пред лицето Господне всеки своята кадилница двеста и петдесет кадилници; ти и Аарон, всеки своята кадилница.
18 И всички взеха своите кадилници, туриха в тях огън, сипаха в тях кадиво, и застанаха при входа на скинията на събранието; също и Моисей и Аарон.
19 (I)И Корей събра срещу тях цялото общество при входа на скинията на събранието. И славата Господня се яви на цялото общество.
20 И рече Господ на Моисея и Аарона, думайки:
21 отделете се от това общество, и в един миг ще ги изтребя.
22 (J)А те паднаха ничком и рекоха: Боже, Боже на духовете и на всяка плът! един човек съгреши, а Ти на цялото ли общество се гневиш?
23 И рече Господ на Моисея, думайки:
24 (K)кажи на народа: отстъпете наоколо от жилището на Корея, Датана и Авирона.
25 И стана Моисей и отиде при Датана и Авирона, и след него отидоха стареите Израилеви.
26 И рече на народа: дръпнете се от шатрите на тия нечестиви мъже и не се допирайте до нищо тяхно, за да не загинете (заедно) с тях във всичките им грехове.
27 И те се дръпнаха наоколо от жилището на Корея, Датана и Авирона; а Датан и Авирон излязоха и стояха пред вратите на шатрите си заедно с жените си и синовете си и с малките си деца.
28 Тогава Моисей каза: от това ще познаете, че Господ ме е пратил да върша всички тия дела, а не от себе си (върша това):
29 ако те умрат, както умират всички люде, и ги постигне такова наказание, каквото постига всички люде, то не Господ ме е пратил;
30 (L)но ако Господ извърши нещо необикновено, и земята разтвори устата си и ги погълне (и къщите им и шатрите им) и всичко, що е у тях, и те слязат живи в преизподнята, то знайте, че тия люде са презрели Господа.
31 (M)Щом изговори тия думи, земята се разпукна под тях;
32 и земята разтвори устата си и погълна тях и къщите им, и всички Корееви люде и всичкия имот,
33 и те слязоха живи в преизподнята с всичко тяхно, и земята ги покри, и те изчезнаха изсред обществото.
34 И всички израилтяни, които бяха около тях, се разбягаха при техния вик, за да не погълне, казваха те, и нас земята.
35 (N)И огън излезе от Господа и изгори ония двеста и петдесет мъже, които бяха принесли кадиво.
36 И рече Господ на Моисея, думайки:
37 кажи на Елеазара, син на свещеник Аарона, да събере (медните) кадилници на изгорелите и да изхвърли огъня, защото се осветиха
38 к адилниците на тия грешници чрез смъртта им, и да ги сплескат на листове за обковаване жертвеника, защото те ги донесоха пред лицето Господне, и затова се осветиха; и те ще бъдат личба за синовете Израилеви.
39 Тогава свещеник Елеазар взе медните кадилници, що бяха донесли изгорелите, и ги сплескаха на листове за обковаване жертвеника,
40 за да помнят синовете Израилеви, та никой външен, който не е от Аароново семе, да не пристъпя да принася кадило пред лицето Господне, за да не стане и с него това, което стана с Корея и съучастниците му, както му беше казал Господ чрез Моисея.
41 (O)На другия ден цялото общество синове Израилеви заропта против Моисея и Аарона и заговори: вие избихте народа Господен.
42 (P)И когато се събра народът против Моисея и Аарона, те се обърнаха към скинията на събранието, и ето, облак я покри, и славата Господня се яви.
43 И дойде Моисей и Аарон до скинията на събранието.
44 И рече Господ на Моисея (и Аарона), думайки:
45 отстранете се от това общество и Аз в един миг ще ги погубя. Но те паднаха ничком.
46 (Q)И рече Моисей на Аарона: вземи кадилницата, тури в нея огън от жертвеника, сипи кадиво и носи по-скоро при народа и застъпи се за тях, защото гняв излезе от Господа, (и) начена се мор.
47 И взе Аарон, както каза Моисей, и се затече всред събранието, и ето, начена се мор между народа. И той сипа кадиво и се помоли за народа:
48 застана между мъртвите и живите, и морът престана.
49 И измряха от мора четиринайсет хиляди и седемстотин души, освен умрелите по Кореевото дело.
50 Тогава Аарон се върна при Моисея, при входа на скинията на събранието, след като престана морът.

Korah, Dathan and Abiram
16 Korah(A) son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram(B), sons of Eliab,(C) and On son of Peleth—became insolent[a] 2 and rose up against Moses.(D) With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.(E) 3 They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron(F) and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy,(G) every one of them, and the Lord is with them.(H) Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”(I)
4 When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.(J) 5 Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy,(K) and he will have that person come near him.(L) The man he chooses(M) he will cause to come near him. 6 You, Korah, and all your followers(N) are to do this: Take censers(O) 7 and tomorrow put burning coals(P) and incense(Q) in them before the Lord. The man the Lord chooses(R) will be the one who is holy.(S) You Levites have gone too far!”
8 Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites! 9 Isn’t it enough(T) for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them?(U) 10 He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too.(V) 11 It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble(W) against him?(X)”
12 Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram,(Y) the sons of Eliab. But they said, “We will not come!(Z) 13 Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey(AA) to kill us in the wilderness?(AB) And now you also want to lord it over us!(AC) 14 Moreover, you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey(AD) or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards.(AE) Do you want to treat these men like slaves[b]?(AF) No, we will not come!(AG)”
15 Then Moses became very angry(AH) and said to the Lord, “Do not accept their offering. I have not taken so much as a donkey(AI) from them, nor have I wronged any of them.”
16 Moses said to Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear before the Lord tomorrow—you and they and Aaron.(AJ) 17 Each man is to take his censer and put incense in it—250 censers in all—and present it before the Lord. You and Aaron are to present your censers also.(AK)” 18 So each of them took his censer,(AL) put burning coals and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 19 When Korah had gathered all his followers in opposition to them(AM) at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the Lord(AN) appeared to the entire assembly. 20 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 21 “Separate yourselves(AO) from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.”(AP)
22 But Moses and Aaron fell facedown(AQ) and cried out, “O God, the God who gives breath to all living things,(AR) will you be angry with the entire assembly(AS) when only one man sins?”(AT)
23 Then the Lord said to Moses, 24 “Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’”
25 Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel(AU) followed him. 26 He warned the assembly, “Move back from the tents of these wicked men!(AV) Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away(AW) because of all their sins.(AX)” 27 So they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.(AY) Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing with their wives, children(AZ) and little ones at the entrances to their tents.(BA)
28 Then Moses said, “This is how you will know(BB) that the Lord has sent me(BC) to do all these things and that it was not my idea: 29 If these men die a natural death and suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me.(BD) 30 But if the Lord brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth(BE) and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the realm of the dead,(BF) then you will know that these men have treated the Lord with contempt.(BG)”
31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart(BH) 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them(BI) and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. 33 They went down alive into the realm of the dead,(BJ) with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community. 34 At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, “The earth is going to swallow us too!”
35 And fire came out from the Lord(BK) and consumed(BL) the 250 men who were offering the incense.
36 The Lord said to Moses, 37 “Tell Eleazar(BM) son of Aaron, the priest, to remove the censers(BN) from the charred remains and scatter the coals some distance away, for the censers are holy— 38 the censers of the men who sinned at the cost of their lives.(BO) Hammer the censers into sheets to overlay the altar,(BP) for they were presented before the Lord and have become holy. Let them be a sign(BQ) to the Israelites.”
39 So Eleazar the priest(BR) collected the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned to death,(BS) and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar, 40 as the Lord directed him through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one except a descendant of Aaron should come to burn incense(BT) before the Lord,(BU) or he would become like Korah and his followers.(BV)
41 The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. “You have killed the Lord’s people,” they said.
42 But when the assembly gathered in opposition(BW) to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the tent of meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the Lord(BX) appeared. 43 Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the tent of meeting, 44 and the Lord said to Moses, 45 “Get away from this assembly so I can put an end(BY) to them at once.” And they fell facedown.
46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer(BZ) and put incense in it, along with burning coals from the altar, and hurry to the assembly(CA) to make atonement(CB) for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord;(CC) the plague(CD) has started.” 47 So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people,(CE) but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. 48 He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.(CF) 49 But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah.(CG) 50 Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the tent of meeting, for the plague had stopped.[c]

2 y se levantaron contra Moisés con doscientos cincuenta varones de los hijos de Israel, príncipes de la congregación, de los del consejo, varones de nombre;
3 y se juntaron contra Moisés y Aarón, y les dijeron: Basta ya de vosotros, porque toda la congregación, todos ellos son santos, y en medio de ellos está el SEÑOR; ¿por qué, pues, os levantáis vosotros sobre la congregación del SEÑOR?
4 Y cuando lo oyó Moisés, se postró sobre su rostro;
5 y habló a Coré y a todo su séquito, diciendo: Mañana mostrará el SEÑOR quién es suyo, y al santo lo hará llegar a sí; y al que él escogiere, él lo acercará a sí.
6 Haced esto: tomad incensarios, Coré y todo su séquito,
7 y poned fuego en ellos, y poned en ellos sahumerio delante del SEÑOR mañana; y será que el varón a quien el SEÑOR escogiere, aquel será el santo; esto os baste, hijos de Leví.
8 Dijo más Moisés a Coré: Oíd ahora, hijos de Leví:
9 ¿Os es poco que el Dios de Israel os haya apartado de la congregación de Israel, haciéndoos acercar a sí para que ministraseis en el servicio del tabernáculo del SEÑOR, y estuvierais delante de la congregación para ministrarles?
10 ¿Y que te hizo acercar a ti, y a todos tus hermanos los hijos de Leví contigo; para que procuréis también el sacerdocio?
11 Por tanto, tú y todo tu séquito sois los que os juntáis contra el SEÑOR; pues Aarón, ¿qué es, para que contra él murmuréis?
12 ¶ Y envió Moisés a llamar a Datán y Abiram, hijos de Eliab; mas ellos respondieron: No iremos allá.
13 ¿Es poco que nos hayas hecho venir de una tierra que destila leche y miel, para hacernos morir en el desierto, sino que también te enseñorees de nosotros imperiosamente?
14 Ni tampoco nos has metido tú en tierra que fluya leche y miel, ni nos has dado heredades de tierras y viñas; ¿has de arrancar los ojos de estos hombres? No subiremos.
15 Entonces Moisés se enojó en gran manera, y dijo al SEÑOR: No mires a su presente; ni aun un asno he tomado de ellos, ni a ninguno de ellos he hecho mal.
16 Después dijo Moisés a Coré: Tú y todo tu séquito, poneos mañana delante del SEÑOR; tú, y ellos, y Aarón;
17 y tomad cada uno su incensario, y poned sahumerio en ellos, y acercaos delante del SEÑOR cada uno con su incensario, doscientos cincuenta incensarios; tú también, y Aarón, cada uno con su incensario.
18 Y tomaron cada uno su incensario, y pusieron en ellos fuego, y pusieron también en ellos sahumerio, y se pusieron a la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio con Moisés y Aarón.
19 Ya Coré había hecho juntar contra ellos toda la congregación a la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio; entonces la gloria del SEÑOR apareció a toda la congregación.
20 Y el SEÑOR habló a Moisés y a Aarón, diciendo:
21 Apartaos de entre esta congregación, y los consumiré en un momento.
22 Y ellos se echaron sobre sus rostros, y dijeron: Dios, Dios de los espíritus de toda carne, ¿no es un varón el que pecó? ¿Y te airarás contra toda la congregación?
23 ¶ Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés, diciendo:
24 Habla a la congregación, diciendo: Apartaos de en derredor de la tienda de Coré, Datán, y Abiram.
25 Y Moisés se levantó, y fue a Datán y a Abiram; y los ancianos de Israel fueron en pos de él.
26 Y él habló a la congregación, diciendo: Apartaos ahora de las tiendas de estos impíos hombres, y no toquéis ninguna cosa suya, para que no perezcáis por ventura en todos sus pecados.
27 Y se apartaron de las tiendas de Coré, de Datán, y de Abiram en derredor; y Datán y Abiram salieron y se pusieron a las puertas de sus tiendas, con sus mujeres, sus hijos, y sus chiquitos.
28 Y dijo Moisés: En esto conoceréis que el SEÑOR me ha enviado para que hiciera todas estas cosas; y que no las hice de mi propio corazón.
29 Si como mueren todos los hombres murieren éstos, o si fueren ellos visitados a la manera de todos los hombres, el SEÑOR no me envió.
30 Mas si el SEÑOR hiciere una nueva cosa, y la tierra abriere su boca, y los tragare con todas sus cosas, y descendieren vivos al Seol, entonces conoceréis que estos hombres irritaron al SEÑOR.
31 Y aconteció, que al acabar él de hablar todas estas palabras, se rompió la tierra que estaba debajo de ellos;
32 y abrió la tierra su boca, y los tragó a ellos, y a sus casas; a todos los hombres de Coré, y a toda su hacienda.
33 Y ellos, con todo lo que tenían, descendieron vivos al Seol, y los cubrió la tierra, y perecieron de en medio de la congregación.
34 Y todo Israel, los que estaban en derredor de ellos, huyeron al estruendo de ellos; porque decían: Por ventura no nos trague la tierra.
35 ¶ Y salió fuego del SEÑOR, y consumió los doscientos cincuenta hombres que ofrecían el sahumerio.
36 Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés, diciendo:
37 Di a Eleazar, hijo de Aarón sacerdote, que tome los incensarios de en medio del incendio, y derrame más allá el fuego; porque son santificados
38 los incensarios de estos pecadores contra sus almas; y harán de ellos planchas extendidas para cubrir el altar; por cuanto ofrecieron con ellos delante del SEÑOR, son santificados; y serán por señal a los hijos de Israel.
39 Y el sacerdote Eleazar tomó los incensarios de bronce con que los quemados habían ofrecido; y los extendieron para cubrir el altar,
40 en recuerdo a los hijos de Israel, que ningún extraño que no sea de la simiente de Aarón, llegue a ofrecer sahumerio delante del SEÑOR, para que no sea como Coré, y como su séquito; según se lo dijo el SEÑOR por mano de Moisés.
41 ¶ El día siguiente, toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel se quejaron contra Moisés y Aarón, diciendo: Vosotros habéis dado muerte al pueblo del SEÑOR.
42 Y aconteció que, cuando se juntó la congregación contra Moisés y Aarón, miraron hacia el tabernáculo del testimonio, y he aquí la nube lo había cubierto, y apareció la gloria del SEÑOR.
43 Y vinieron Moisés y Aarón delante del tabernáculo del testimonio.
44 ¶ Y el SEÑOR habló a Moisés, diciendo:
45 Apartaos de en medio de esta congregación, y los consumiré en un momento. Y ellos se echaron sobre sus rostros.
46 Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Toma el incensario, y pon en él fuego del altar, y sobre él pon incienso, y ve presto a la congregación, y reconcílialos; porque el furor ha salido de delante de la faz del SEÑOR; la mortandad ha comenzado.
47 Entonces tomó Aarón su incensario, como Moisés dijo, y corrió en medio de la congregación; y he aquí que la mortandad había comenzado en el pueblo; y él puso incienso, y reconcilió el pueblo.
48 Y se puso entre los muertos y los vivos, y la mortandad cesó.
49 Y los que murieron de aquella mortandad fueron catorce mil setecientos, sin los muertos por el negocio de Coré.
50 Después se volvió Aarón a Moisés a la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, cuando la mortandad había cesado.
