7 Или не знаете, братя (понеже говоря на такива, които познават закона), че законът има власт над човека, докле е той жив?
2 (A)Омъжената жена е свързана чрез закона с мъжа, докле е той жив; умре ли мъжът, тя се освобождава от закона, който я свързва с мъжа.
3 Затова, ако при жив мъж тя се омъжи за другиго, ще бъде прелюбодейка; ако пък умре мъжът, тя е свободна от закона, и няма да бъде прелюбодейка, кога се омъжи за другиго.
4 (B)Тъй и вие, братя мои, умряхте за закона чрез тялото Христово, за да принадлежите Другиму, Който възкръсна от мъртвите, та да принесем плод Богу.
5 (C)Защото, когато живеехме по плът, тогава страстите греховни, узнавани чрез закона, действуваха в членовете ни, за да принесем плод на смъртта;
6 (D)но сега, като умряхме за закона, чрез който бяхме свързани, ние се освободихме от него, за да служим Богу с обновен дух, а не по вехтата буква.
7 (E)Какво, прочее, ще кажем? Нима законът е грях? Съвсем не. Ала аз узнах греха не инак, освен чрез закона, защото и похотта не бих познал, ако законът не казваше: „не похотствувай“.
8 (F)Но грехът, като взе повод от заповедта, произведе в мене всякаква похот; защото грехът без закона е мъртъв.
9 Аз живеех някога си без закон; но, когато дойде заповедта, грехът оживя,
10 (G)пък аз умрях; и оказа се, че заповедта, дадена за живот, ми послужи за смърт,
11 (H)защото грехът, като взе повод от заповедта, ме прелъсти и чрез нея ме умъртви.
12 (I)Тъй че законът е свет, и заповедта света, справедлива и добра.
13 И тъй, доброто ли стана за мене смърт? Съвсем не: но грехът, за да се яви той, че е грях, като ми причинява чрез доброто смърт, та чрез заповедта грехът да стане извънредно греховен.
14 (J)Защото знаем, че законът е духовен, пък аз съм от плът, продаден на греха.
15 (K)А каквото правя, не зная; защото не това, що желая, върша, а онова, що мразя, него правя.
16 Ако пък върша това, що не желая, съгласявам се със закона, че е добър;
17 а в такъв случай не аз вече върша това, а грехът, който живее в мене.
18 (L)Аз зная, че в мене, сиреч в плътта ми, не живее доброто; защото желание за добро има у мене, но да го върша не намирам сили.
19 Защото не доброто, което искам, правя, а злото, което не искам, него върша.
20 А щом върша това, що не искам, не аз го върша вече, а грехът, който живее в мене.
21 И тъй, намирам у себе си такъв закон, че, кога искам да върша доброто, злото стои до мене.
22 (M)Защото с вътрешния си човек намирам услада в закона Божий,
23 (N)но в членовете си виждам друг закон, който воюва против закона на моя ум и ме прави пленник на греховния закон, що е в членовете ми.
24 Нещастен аз човек! Кой ще ме избави от тялото на тая смърт?
25 Благодаря на моя Бог чрез Иисуса Христа, нашия Господ. И тъй, сам аз с ума си служа на Божия закон, а с плътта – на греховния закон.

7 Или не знаете, братя, (защото говоря на човеци, които знаят що е закон), че законът владее над човека само, докогато той е жив?
2 Защото омъжена жена е вързана чрез закона за мъжа, докогато е жив; но когато мъжът умре тя се освобождава от мъжовия закон.
3 И тъй, ако при живота на мъжа си тя се омъжи за друг мъж, става блудница; но ако умре мъжът й, свободна е от тоя закон, и не става блудница, ако се омъжи за друг мъж.
4 И тъй, братя мои, и вие умряхте спрямо закона чрез Христовото тяло, за да се свържите с друг, сиреч, с възкресения от мъртвите, за да принасяме плод на Бога.
5 Защото, когато бяхме плътски, греховните страсти, които се възбуждаха чрез закона, действуваха във вашите телесни части, за да принасяме плод който докарва смърт;
6 но сега, като умряхме към това, което ни държеше, освободихме се от закона; тъй щото ние служим по нов дух, а не по старата буква.
7 Тогава що? Да речем ли, че законът е грях? Да не бъде! Но напротив, не бих познал греха освен чрез закона, защото не бих познал, че пожеланието е грях, ако законът не беше казвал: "Не пожелавай".

10 намерих, че самата заповед, която бе назначена да докара живот, докара ми смърт.
11 Защото грехът, като взе повод чрез заповедта, измами ме и ме умъртви чрез нея.
12 Тъй щото законът е свят, и заповедта свята, праведна и добра
13 Тогава, това ли, което е добро, стана смърт за мене? Да не бъде! Но грехът ми причинява смърт чрез това добро нещо, за да се показва, че е грях, тъй щото чрез заповедта, грехът да стане много грешен.
14 Защото знаем, че законът е духовен; а пък аз съм от плът, продаден под греха.
15 Защото не зная какво правя: понеже не върша това, което искам; но онова което мразя, него върша.
16 Обаче, ако върша, това което не искам, съгласен съм със закона , че е добър.
17 Затова не аз сега върша това, но грехът, който живее в мене.
18 Защото зная, че в мене, сиреч в плътта ми, не живее доброто; понеже желание за доброто имам; но злото, което не желая, него върша.
20 Но ако върша това, което не желая, то вече не го върша аз, а грехът, който живее в мене.
21 И тъй, намирам тоя закон, че при мене, който желая да върша доброто, злото е близу.
22 Защото, колкото за вътрешното ми естество, аз се наслаждавам в Божия закон;
23 но в телесните си части виждам различен закон, който воюва против закона на ума ми, и ме заробва под греховния закон, който е в частите ми.
24 Окаян аз човек! кой ще ме избави от тялота на тая смърт?

Освобождение от закона
7 Нима не знаете, братя и сестри (защото говоря на хора, които познават закона), че законът господства над човека, докато той е жив? 2 Например, според закона омъжената жена е обвързана със съпруга си, докато той е жив, но ако съпругът й умре, тя се освобождава от брачния закон. 3 И така, ако тя стане жена на друг мъж, докато съпругът й е жив, законът казва, че е прелюбодейка, но ако съпругът й умре, тя е свободна от брачния закон и няма да извърши прелюбодеяние, ако стане жена на друг мъж.
4 Така, братя и сестри, вие също умряхте за закона чрез Христовото тяло, за да можете да принадлежите на друг — на Онзи, който възкръсна от мъртвите, за да принасяме плодове за Бога. 5 Когато живеехме според грешната си човешка природа, нашите греховни страсти, подбудени от закона, вършеха своето дело в телата ни, за да дадат плодове, които водят към смърт. 6 Но сега, след като умряхме за закона, чиито пленници бяхме, ние сме освободени от него. Борбата с греха

Всъщност, ако законът не беше казал: „Не пожелавай това, което принадлежи на друг“,(A) нямаше да зная какво е да пожелаеш нещо, което принадлежи на друг. 8 Но грехът намери начин чрез тази заповед да ме накара да пожелавам всякакви неща, които не ми принадлежат, защото без закона грехът е безсилен. 9 Имаше време, когато бях жив без закона, но грехът отново започна да действа, когато заповедта на закона дойде при мен, 10 и аз умрях. Така заповедта, чието предназначение бе да донесе живот, ми донесе смърт, 11 защото грехът успя да ме измами и използва заповедта да ме убие.
12 Законът е свят и заповедта е свята, справедлива и добра. 13 Означава ли това, че доброто ми донесе смърт? Не, разбира се! За да разбера какво е грях, грехът ми донесе смърт, като се възползва от доброто. Това стана, за да може чрез тази заповед да се покаже колко ужасно грешен е грехът.
Вътрешният конфликт
14 Знаем, че законът е нещо духовно, а аз не съм. Аз съм човек от плът и бях продаден в робство на греха. 15 Не зная какво върша, защото върша не това, което искам, а нещата, които мразя, тях върша! 16 А щом върша точно това, което не искам, значи се съгласявам със закона и признавам, че е добър. 17 Но всъщност не аз върша тези неща, а грехът, който живее в мен. 18 Да, зная, че нищо добро не живее вътре в мен, тоест в моята недуховна човешка природа. Имам желание за добри дела, но нямам силата да ги върша. 19 Върша не доброто, което искам, а злото, което не искам. 20 А щом върша точно това, което не искам, то не аз го върша, а грехът, който живее в мен.
21 Откривам в себе си това правило: когато искам да извърша добро, злото винаги е с мен. 22 Дълбоко в себе си аз с радост приемам Божия закон. 23 Но виждам друг закон да действа в тялото ми. Той е във вражда със закона, който ръководи ума ми. Този друг закон, който действа в тялото ми, е законът на греха и той ме превръща в свой пленник. 24 Аз съм един окаян човек! Кой ще ме спаси от това тяло, подвластно на смъртта? 25 Бог го прави чрез нашия Господ Исус Христос и аз съм благодарен!
И така, с ума си служа на Божия закон, но с грешната си човешка природа служа на закона, наложен ми от греха.

But We Are Indeed Not Under The Law, For It Only Has Jurisdiction Over The Living
7 Or[a] do you not know, brothers (for I am speaking to ones knowing the Law[b]), that the Law lords-over[c] the person for as much time as he lives? 2 For the married woman has been bound by the Law to the living husband; but if the husband dies, she has been released from the law of [d] the husband. 3 So then, while the husband is living, she will be called an adulteress if she comes[e] to a different husband. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress, having come to a different husband.
We Have Died To The Law In Christ
4 So-then[f], my brothers, you also were put-to-death with reference to the Law[g] through the body of Christ so that you might come[h] to a different One— to the One having arisen from the dead— in order that we might bear-fruit for God.
Having Died, We Are Released From The Law Through Which Sin Produced Death
5 For when we were in the flesh[i], the passions of [j] sins which[k] were through[l] the Law were at-work in our body-parts so as to bear-fruit for death. 6 But now we were released[m] from the Law, having died to that by which we were being held, so that we are serving in newness of the Spirit[n] and not in oldness of the letter[o].
Not That The Law Is At Fault For My Sin
7 Therefore, what shall we say? Is the Law sin[p]? May it never be! On-the-contrary, I would not have known[q] sin except through the Law.
Sin Used The Law To Produce Sin In Me
For indeed I would not have known[r] coveting[s] if the Law were not saying [in Ex 20:17], “You shall not covet”. 8 But sin, having taken[t] an opportunity[u] through the commandment, produced[v] every[w] [kind of ] coveting in me. For apart-from[x] the Law, sin is dead[y].
And Sin Used The Law To Kill Me
9 And I was once[z] alive apart from the Law. But the commandment having come, sin became-alive[aa] 10 and I died. And the commandment for[ab] life— this was found in me to be for[ac] death. 11 For sin, having taken an opportunity through the commandment, deceived[ad] me, and through it, killed me.
So The Law Is Good
12 So-then the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
Not That The Law Killed Me. Sin Is To Blame For My Death
13 Therefore did the good thing become death[ae] for me? May it never be! On the contrary, it was sin, in order that it might become-visible as sin while producing death in me through the good thing, in order that sin might become extremely[af] sinful through the commandment.
I Agree The Law Is Good, But The Sin In Me Produces Behavior I Hate
14 For[ag] we know that the Law is spiritual. But I am made-of-flesh[ah], having been sold under sin. 15 For I do not understand[ai] what[aj] I am producing. For I am not practicing this which I am wanting, but I am doing this which I am hating. 16 But if I am doing this which I am not wanting, I am agreeing-with[ak] the Law— that it is good. 17 And now I am no longer producing it, but the sin[al] dwelling in me is.
I Know I Am Not Good, For I Cannot Do The Good I Want To Do
18 For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh. For the wanting is present in me, but the producing the good is not. 19 For I am not doing the good which I am wanting, but I am practicing this evil which I am not wanting. 20 But if I am doing this which I am not wanting, I am no longer producing it, but the sin[am] dwelling in me is.
So The Evil Inside Me Enslaves Me To The Law of Sin And Death In Me
21 I find then the law[an] in me, the one wanting to do the good, that the evil is present in me. 22 For I am rejoicing-with[ao] the Law of God according-to[ap] the inner person. 23 But I am seeing a different law in my body-parts waging-war-against[aq] the law of my mind, and taking me captive[ar] under the law of sin existing in my body-parts. 24 I am a wretched[as] person! Who will deliver me from this[at] body of [au] death? 25 But thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself am serving the Law of God with the mind, but the law of sin with the flesh.

The sin in him is against him and against God! How extremely sinful it truly is! This proves v 14b; Paul is under the dominion of sin.

Released From the Law, Bound to Christ
7 Do you not know, brothers and sisters(A)—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him.(B) 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.(C) But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.
4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law(D) through the body of Christ,(E) that you might belong to another,(F) to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a](G) the sinful passions aroused by the law(H) were at work in us,(I) so that we bore fruit for death.(J) 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law(K) so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.(L)
The Law and Sin
7 What shall we say, then?(M) Is the law sinful? Certainly not!(N) Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law.(O) For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”[b](P) 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment,(Q) produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead.(R) 9 Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life(S) actually brought death. 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment,(T) deceived me,(U) and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.(V)
13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good(W) to bring about my death,(X) so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual,(Y) sold(Z) as a slave to sin.(AA) 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.(AB) 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.(AC) 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.(AD) 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c](AE) For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.(AF) 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.(AG)
21 So I find this law at work:(AH) Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being(AI) I delight in God’s law;(AJ) 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war(AK) against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin(AL) at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?(AM) 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!(AN)
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law,(AO) but in my sinful nature[d] a slave to the law of sin.(AP)
