4 (A)И тъй, братя, молим и ви увещаваме в Христа Иисуса, щото вие, след като научихте от нас, как трябва да постъпвате и да угаждате Богу, както и постъпвате, повече да преуспявате в това;
2 защото знаете, какви заповеди ви дадохме от Господа Иисуса.
3 (B)Тази е волята Божия: да бъдете осветени, да се въздържате от блудство,
4 (C)всеки от вас да умее да запазва своя съсъд в светост и чест,
5 а не в похотна страст, както и езичниците, незнаещи Бога,
6 (D)и да не престъпничи и измамва в това нещо брата си; защото Господ отмъщава за всичко това, както и попреди ви говорихме и свидетелствувахме.
7 (E)Защото Бог не ни призва към нечистота, но към светост.
8 (F)И тъй, който отхвърля това, той отхвърля не човека, а Бога, Който и даде Своя Свети Дух в нас.
9 (G)А за братолюбие няма нужда да ви пишем, защото вие сами сте научени от Бога да обичате един другиго,
10 защото тъй и постъпвате с всички братя по цяла Македония. И молим ви, братя, още повече да преуспявате,
11 (H)и усърдно да се стараете да живеете тихо, да си гледате работата и със собствените си ръце да работите, както ви заповядахме,
12 (I)за да се държите благоприлично към външните и да нямате нужда от никого.
13 Не искам, братя, вие да не знаете за починалите, за да не скърбите, както и другите, които нямат надежда.
14 (J)Защото ако вярваме, че Иисус умря и възкръсна, то и починалите в Иисуса Бог ще приведе с Него.
15 (K)Прочее, това ви казваме чрез слово Господне, че ние живите, които останем до пришествието Господне, няма да изпреварим починалите,
16 (L)защото Сам Господ с повеление, при глас на Архангел и при тръба Божия, ще слезе от небето, и мъртвите в Христа ще възкръснат първом;
17 (M)после ние, останалите живи, заедно с тях ще бъдем грабнати на облаци, за да срещнем Господа във въздуха, и така винаги с Господа ще бъдем.
18 Прочее, утешавайте се един други с тия думи.

Наставление за подобаващ християнски живот
4 (A)И тъй, братя, молим ви и ви призоваваме в името на Господ Иисус да се усъвършенствате все повече, след като научихте от нас как трябва да постъпвате и да бъдете приятни на Бога[a], 2 защото знаете какви наставления ви предадохме от Господ Иисус.
3 (B)(C)Божията воля е тази: да се освещавате, като се въздържате от разпътство, 4 всеки един от вас да знае как да се отнася с тялото си свято и достойно, 5 а да не бъде похотлив като езичниците, които не познават Бога; 6 (D)да не извършва такива престъпления и да не подвежда към това своя брат, защото Господ наказва за всичко това, както преди ви казахме и засвидетелствахме. 7 Защото Бог не ни призова към безнравственост, а към святост. 8 (E)И така, който отхвърля това, отхвърля не човека, а Бога, Който ви даде Своя Свети Дух.
9 А за братолюбието няма нужда да ви пишем, защото вие самите сте научени от Бога да се обичате един друг. 10 Така се отнасяте с всички братя в цяла Македония. Молим ви, братя, повече да се стремите към съвършенство. 11 (F)Показвайте усърдие за смирен живот; вършете своите си дела и се трудете със собствените си ръце, както ви поучавахме по-рано, 12 за да се отнасяте с невярващите както подобава и да не сте в тежест на никого.
Възкресение на мъртвите
13 (G)Братя, искам да сте наясно относно починалите, за да не скърбите както другите, които нямат надежда. 14 Защото, както вярваме, че Иисус умря и възкръсна, така трябва да вярваме, че Бог ще доведе при Себе Си и починалите с вяра в Иисус.
15 (H)А според словото на Господ, това ви казваме: ние, живите, които останем до пришествието на Господа, няма да изпреварим починалите, 16 (I)защото Сам Господ ще слезе от небето след заповед, глас на архангел и звук на Божия тръба и най-напред ще възкръснат умрелите с вяра в Христос. 17 (J)След това ние, останалите живи, ще бъдем грабнати заедно с тях на облаци, за да посрещнем Господа във въздуха, и така ще бъдем винаги с Господа. 18 Затова се утешавайте един друг с тези думи.

La vida que agrada a Dios
4 Por lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesús, que de la manera que aprendisteis de nosotros cómo os conviene conduciros y agradar a Dios, así abundéis más y más. 2 Porque ya sabéis qué instrucciones os dimos por el Señor Jesús; 3 pues la voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación; que os apartéis de fornicación; 4 que cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su propia esposa en santidad y honor; 5 no en pasión de concupiscencia, como los gentiles que no conocen a Dios; 6 que ninguno agravie ni engañe en nada a su hermano; porque el Señor es vengador de todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y testificado. 7 Pues no nos ha llamado Dios a inmundicia, sino a santificación. 8 Así que, el que desecha esto, no desecha a hombre, sino a Dios, que también nos dio su Espíritu Santo.
9 Pero acerca del amor fraternal no tenéis necesidad de que os escriba, porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis unos a otros; 10 y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Pero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis en ello más y más; 11 y que procuréis tener tranquilidad, y ocuparos en vuestros negocios, y trabajar con vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado, 12 a fin de que os conduzcáis honradamente para con los de afuera, y no tengáis necesidad de nada.
La venida del Señor
13 Tampoco queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza. 14 Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con Jesús a los que durmieron en él. 15 Por lo cual os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que durmieron. 16 Porque el Señor mismo con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero. 17 Luego nosotros los que vivimos, los que hayamos quedado, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.(A) 18 Por tanto, alentaos los unos a los otros con estas palabras.

Living to Please God
4 As for other matters, brothers and sisters,(A) we instructed you how to live(B) in order to please God,(C) as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3 It is God’s will(D) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;(E) 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a](F) in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust(G) like the pagans,(H) who do not know God;(I) 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b](J) The Lord will punish(K) all those who commit such sins,(L) as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.(M) 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.(N)
9 Now about your love for one another(O) we do not need to write to you,(P) for you yourselves have been taught by God(Q) to love each other.(R) 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia.(S) Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,(T) 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands,(U) just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders(V) and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Believers Who Have Died
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed(W) about those who sleep in death,(X) so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.(Y) 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again,(Z) and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.(AA) 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord,(AB) will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.(AC) 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,(AD) with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel(AE) and with the trumpet call of God,(AF) and the dead in Christ will rise first.(AG) 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left(AH) will be caught up together with them in the clouds(AI) to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord(AJ) forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another(AK) with these words.

4 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
