26 Както сняг лятно време и дъжд по жътва, тъй и чест не прилича на глупец.
2 Както врабче ще хвръкне, както лястовица ще отлети, – тъй незаслужено проклятие няма да се сбъдне.
3 (A)Бич – за кон, юзда – за осел, а тояга – за глупци.
4 (B)Не отговаряй на глупеца според глупостта му, за да не станеш и ти подобен нему;
5 не отговаряй на глупеца според глупостта му[a], за да се не помисли за мъдър.
6 Който дава устна поръка на глупец, подрязва нозете си, търпи неприятност.
7 Както кривят нозете у хромия, тъй и притчата куца в устата на глупци.
8 Каквото е оня, който туря в прашка безценен камък, такова е и оня, който дава чест на глупец.
9 Каквото е бодил в ръката на пияница, такова е притча в устата на глупци.
10 Силният върши всичко произволно: и глупеца надарява, и всеки минувач награждава.
11 (C)Както псе се връща на бълвоча си, тъй глупец повтаря своята глупост.
12 (D)Видял ли си човек, който се мисли за мъдър? Повече се надявай на глупеца, нежели нему.
13 (E)Ленивецът казва: „лъв на пътя! лъв по стъгдите!“
14 Врата се върти на куките си, а ленивец – на леглото си.
15 (F)Ленивец потапя ръка в блюдото, и тежко му е да я подигне до устата си.
16 (G)Ленивец се мисли за по-мъдър от седмина, които смислено отговарят.
17 Който минувайки се намесва в чужда свада, хваща куче за уши.
18 Както престорилият се на луд хвърля огън, стрели и смърт,
19 тъй е и човек, който коварно уврежда приятеля си и после казва: „аз се само пошегувах“.
20 Дето няма вече дърва, огънят угасва, и дето няма шепотник, раздорът утихва.
21 (H)Въглищата – за жар, и дървата – за огън, а свадлив човек – крамоли да разпалва.
22 (I)Думите на шепотника са като сладкиши и влизат вътре в утробата.
23 Каквото е глинен съд, гледжосан с нечисто сребро, такова са огнени уста и злобно сърце.
24 (J)С уста си врагът се преструва, а в сърце си коварство крои.
25 (K)Кога говори дори с нежен глас, не му вярвай, защото в сърцето му има седем гнусотии.
26 Ако омразата му се прикрива насаме, злобата му ще се открие в събранието народно.
27 (L)Който копае яма, той ще падне в нея, и който търкаля камък нагоре, върху него ще се върне.
28 Лъжлив език мрази ония, които е наранил, и уста ласкателни готвят падение.

26 No le sienta bien la nieve al verano,
ni la lluvia a la cosecha,
ni los honores al bruto.
2 Como gorrión extraviado o golondrina sin nido,
así es la maldición sin motivo: jamás alcanza su destino.
3 Hay que fustigar a los caballos,
ponerles freno a las mulas
y castigar a los brutos.
4 Responder a las tonterías del bruto
es parecerse a él;
5 respóndele como se merece
para que se fije en su insensatez.
6 Mandar un mensaje por medio de un tonto
es como amputarse las piernas o meterse en líos.
7 Un bruto tratando de decir algo sabio
es como un tullido tratando de caminar.
8 Honrar a un bruto es tan insensato
como atar una piedra a la honda.
9 Lo mismo que siente un borracho una espina en la mano,
eso entiende un tonto cuando dice un dicho sabio.
10 Como arquero que dispara a todo lo que se mueve,
así es el que contrata al bruto en su casa.
11 El perro que vomita, regresa a su mismo vómito;
así el bruto vuelve a su insensatez.
12 Tiene más esperanza un bruto,
que el que se cree muy sabio.
13 El perezoso dice: «No puedo ir a trabajar ahora
porque afuera hay un león y puede matarme».
14 La puerta gira sobre sus bisagras,
el perezoso gira sobre su cama.
15 El perezoso mete la mano en el plato,
pero le da pereza hasta llevarse un bocado a la boca.
16 El perezoso cree que es más sabio
que siete sabios capaces de aconsejar.
17 Meterse en peleas ajenas
es como agarrar un perro por las orejas.
18 Como un loco disparando al aire
flechas de fuego y muerte,
19 es el que engaña a otro
y luego dice que todo era una broma.
20 Si no hay leña, se apaga el fuego;
si no hay chismes, se acaba el pleito.
21 Con carbón se avivan las brasas,
con la leña se aviva el fuego,
con el pendenciero se inician las discusiones.
22 Los chismes son bocados exquisitos,
llegan hasta lo más hondo.
23 Como baño de plata sobre olla de barro
son las palabras bonitas del malintencionado.
24 Con sus palabras el perverso trata de disimular su odio,
pero en su interior planea maldades.
25 Lo que dice parece correcto,
pero su corazón está lleno de malos pensamientos.
26 Aunque trate de esconder sus malas intenciones,
al final todos se darán cuenta de su maldad.
27 El que abra un hoyo, caerá en él;
al que tire una piedra, le caerá encima.
28 El mentiroso hace daño a los que engaña,
y el malintencionado que habla bonito causa confusión.

26 Like snow in summer or rain(A) in harvest,
honor is not fitting for a fool.(B)
2 Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,
an undeserved curse does not come to rest.(C)
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey,(D)
and a rod for the backs of fools!(E)
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.(F)
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.(G)
6 Sending a message by the hands of a fool(H)
is like cutting off one’s feet or drinking poison.
7 Like the useless legs of one who is lame
is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.(I)
8 Like tying a stone in a sling
is the giving of honor to a fool.(J)
9 Like a thornbush in a drunkard’s hand
is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.(K)
10 Like an archer who wounds at random
is one who hires a fool or any passer-by.
11 As a dog returns to its vomit,(L)
so fools repeat their folly.(M)
12 Do you see a person wise in their own eyes?(N)
There is more hope for a fool than for them.(O)
13 A sluggard says,(P) “There’s a lion in the road,
a fierce lion roaming the streets!”(Q)
14 As a door turns on its hinges,
so a sluggard turns on his bed.(R)
15 A sluggard buries his hand in the dish;
he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.(S)
16 A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
than seven people who answer discreetly.
17 Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears
is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own.
18 Like a maniac shooting
flaming arrows of death
19 is one who deceives their neighbor
and says, “I was only joking!”
20 Without wood a fire goes out;
without a gossip a quarrel dies down.(T)
21 As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire,
so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife.(U)
22 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts.(V)
23 Like a coating of silver dross on earthenware
are fervent[a] lips with an evil heart.
24 Enemies disguise themselves with their lips,(W)
but in their hearts they harbor deceit.(X)
25 Though their speech is charming,(Y) do not believe them,
for seven abominations fill their hearts.(Z)
26 Their malice may be concealed by deception,
but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
27 Whoever digs a pit(AA) will fall into it;(AB)
if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.(AC)
28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts,
and a flattering mouth(AD) works ruin.
