9 ^(A)И рече Господ на Моисея: иди при фараона и му кажи: тъй говори Господ, Бог на евреите: пусни Моя народ, за да Ми извърши служба;

²защото, ако ти не поискаш да пуснеш (Моя народ) и още го задържаш,

³^(B)ето, ръката Господня ще бъде върху твоя добитък, който е на полето: върху коне, върху осли, върху камили, върху волове и овци – страшен мор ще настане.

⁴И (в онова време) Господ ще различи добитъка израилски от добитъка египетски, и от всичкия (добитък) на синовете Израилеви нищо няма да умре.

⁵И определи Господ времето, като рече: утре ще стори това Господ в тая земя.

⁶И на другия ден Господ направи това: измря всичкият египетски добитък; а от добитъка на синовете Израилеви нищо не умря.

⁷^(C)Фараонът прати да узнаят, и ето, от (всичкия) добитък (на синовете) Израилеви не бе умряло нищо. Но фараоновото сърце се ожесточи, и той не пусна народа.

⁸^(D)И рече Господ на Моисея и Аарона: вземете по една пълна шепа пепел от пещ, и нека я хвърли Моисей на възбог пред очите на фараона (и служителите му);

⁹и ще се дигне прах по цяла Египетска земя, и циреи ще излязат по човеци и по добитък в цяла Египетска земя.

¹⁰Те взеха пепел от пещ и застанаха пред фараона. Моисей я хвърли на възбог, и гнойни струпеи излязоха по човеци и по добитък.

¹¹^(E)И не можеха влъхвите да устоят пред Моисея поради струпеите, защото струпеи имаше по влъхвите и по всички египтяни.

¹²^(F)Но Господ ожесточи сърцето на фараона, и той не ги послуша, както и бе казал Господ на Моисея.

¹³И рече Господ на Моисея: утре стани рано и се яви пред фараона и му кажи: тъй говори Господ, Бог на евреите: пусни Моя народ, за да Ми извърши служба;

¹⁴защото тоя път Аз ще напратя всички Мои порази в сърцето ти, и върху твоите служители, и върху твоя народ, за да познаеш, че няма подобен на Мене в цялата земя;

¹⁵понеже, простра ли ръка, ще поразя тебе и твоя народ с мор, и ти ще бъдеш изтребен от земята:

¹⁶^(G)но затова Аз те запазих, за да покажа над тебе силата Си, и за да бъде възвестено Моето име по цяла земя.

¹⁷Ти още противостоиш на Моя народ и го не пускаш, –

¹⁸но ето, Аз ще пратя утре, тъкмо по това време, твърде силен град, какъвто не е имало в Египет от деня на основанието му досега.

¹⁹Прати прочее да приберат стадата ти и всичко, що имаш по полето: защото върху всички човеци и добитък, които останат по полето и не бъдат прибрани дома, ще падне град, и ще измрат.

²⁰Ония фараонови служители, които се уплашиха от думата Господня, прибра ха бързо слугите си и стадата си в къщите;

²¹а който не обърна внимание към думата Господня, той остави слугите си и стадата си на полето.

²²И рече Господ на Моисея: простри ръката си към небето, и ще падне град по цялата Египетска земя, върху човеци, върху добитък и върху всичката полска трева в Египетската земя.

²³^(H)И простря Моисей тоягата си към небето, и даде Господ гръм и град, и огън се сипеше по земята; и прати Господ град върху (цялата) Египетска земя;

²⁴беше град, и огън смесен с град, (град) много силен, какъвто не е имало по цялата Египетска земя, откак е заселена.

²⁵И градът порази по цялата Египетска земя всичко, що беше в полето, от човек до добитък; градът уби и всичката полска трева, и всички дървета в полето изпочупи (градът).

²⁶Само в земя Гесем, дето живееха синовете Израилеви, нямаше град.

²⁷^(I)И прати фараонът, та повика Моисеяи Аарона и им рече: тоя път съгреших; Господ е праведен, а аз и моят народ сме виновни.

²⁸Помолете се (за мене) на Господа: нека престанат гръмовете Божии и градът (и огънят на земята), и ще ви пусна и няма вече да ви задържам.

²⁹^(J)Моисей му рече: щом изляза от града, ще простра ръцете си към Господа (на небето), и гръмовете ще престанат, и град (и дъжд) няма да има вече, за да познаеш, че земята е Господня;

³⁰но аз зная, че ти и твоите служители още няма да се побоите от Господа Бога.

³¹Ленът и ечемикът бяха убити, защото ечемикът беше изкласил, а ленът беше завързал семе;

³²пшеницата пък и лимецът не бяха убити, защото бяха късни.

³³Излезе Моисей от фараона извън града и простря ръцете си към Господа: престана гръмът и градът, и дъжд се не изливаше вече на земята.

³⁴Като видя фараонът, че престана дъждът, градът и гръмът, продължаваше да греши, и закоравя сърцето негово и на служителите му.

³⁵Ожесточи се сърцето на фараона (и на служителите му), и той не пусна синовете Израилеви, както и бе казал Господ чрез Моисея.

9 Тогава Господ рече на Моисея: Влез у Фараона и кажи му: Така казва Господ, Бог на евреите, Пусни людете Ми, за да ми послужат.

²Защото, ако откажеш да ги пуснеш, и ако още ги държиш,

³ето, Господната ръка ще падне на добитъка ти, който е по полето, на конете, на ослите, на камилите, на говедата и на овците, с твърде тежък мор.

⁴И Господ ще постави преграда между Израилевия добитък и египетския добитък; от всичкия добитък на израилтяните нищо няма да умре.

⁵И Господ определи срок, като рече: Утре Господ ще стори това на земята.

⁶На другия ден Господ стори това; всичкият египетски добитък измря, а от добитъка на израилтяните нищо не умря.

⁷И Фараон прати <да видят>, и, ето, от добитъка на израилтяните нищо не беше умряло. Но сърцето на Фараона бе упорито, и той не пусна людете.

⁸Тогава Господ каза на Моисея и Аарона: Напълнете шепите си с пепел от пещ и нека я пръсне Моисей към небето пред Фараона;

⁹и <пепелта> ще стане прах по цялата Египетска земя, и ще причини на човеците и на животните възпаление с гнойни цирки, по цялата Египетска земя.

¹⁰И като взеха пепел от пещ и застанаха пред Фараона, Моисей я пръсна към небето; и стана възпаление с гнойни цирки на човеците и на животните.

¹¹И магьосниците не можаха да стоят пред Моисея поради възпалението; защото възпалението беше на магьосниците, <както> и на всичките египтяни.

¹²Но Господ закорави сърцето на Фараона, та не ги послуша, според както Господ беше говорил на Моисея.

¹³След това Господ рече на Моисея: Стани утре рано та застани пред Фараона, и речи му: Така казва Господ, Бог на евреите, Пусни людете Ми, за да Ми послужат.

¹⁴Защото в това време Аз изпращам всичките Си язви върху сърцето ти, върху слугите ти и върху людете ти, за да познаеш, че в целия свят няма подобен на Мене.

¹⁵Понеже сега можех да дигна ръката Си и да поразя тебе и людете ти с мор, и ти би бил изтребен от земята,

¹⁶ако не беше, че нарочно затова те издигнах, да покажа в тебе силата Си и да се прочуе Името Ми по целия свят.

¹⁷Още ли се надигаш против людете Ми та не ги пускаш?

¹⁸Ето, утре около тоя час ще наваля много тежък град, небивал в Египет, откак се е основал, дори до днес.

¹⁹Сега, прочее, прати да приберат скоро добитъка ти и всичко що имаш по полето; <защото> града ще падне на всеки човек и всяко животно, що се намери на полето и не се прибере в къщи; и те ще измрат.

²⁰Прочее, който от Фараоновите слуги се убоя от това, което Господ каза, прибра бързо в къщи слугите си и добитъка си;

²¹а който не даде внимание на казаното от Господа, остави слугите си и добитъка си по полето.

²²Тогава Господ каза на Моисея: Простри ръката си към небето, за да удари град по цялата Египетска земя, по човеците, по животните и по всяка трева на полето из цялата Египетска земя.

²³И Моисей простря жезъла си към небето и Господ прати гръм и град, и огън се спущаше по земята; Господ наваля град по Египетската земя.

²⁴Така имаше град, и огън размесен с града, <град> много тежък, небивал в цялата Египетска земя, откак е заживял там народ.

²⁵В цялата Египетска земя градът изби всичко що имаше по полето, и човек и животно; градът очука и всичката трева по полето и изпочупи всичките дървета по полето.

²⁶Само в Гесенската земя, гдето бяха израилтяните, не удари град.

²⁷Тогава Фараон изпрати да повикат Моисея и Аарона и рече им: Тоя път съгреших; Господ е праведен, а аз и людете ми сме нечестиви.

²⁸Помолете се Господу: защото стига толкова от тия ужасни гръмове и град; и аз ще ви пусна, и няма вече да останете.

²⁹А Моисей му каза: Щом изляза от града ще простра ръцете си към Господа; и гръмовете ще престанат, и град не ще има вече, за да познаеш, че светът е Господен.

³⁰Обаче зная, че ти и слугите ти още не ще се убоите от Господа Бога.

³¹(Ленът и ечемикът бидоха изпобити, защото ечемикът беше на класове, и ленът връзваше семе;

³²но пшеницата и бялото жито оцеляха, защото бяха късни).

³³И тъй, Моисей излезе отпред Фараона извън града и простря ръцете си към Господа; и гръмовете и градът престанаха, и дъждът не се изливаше вече по земята.

³⁴Но като видя Фараон, че престанаха дъждът и градът и гръмовете, той продължаваше да греши, и закорави сърцето си, той и слугите му.

³⁵Сърцето на Фараона се закорави, и той не пусна израилтяните, според както Господ бе говорил чрез Моисея.

The Fifth Plague: Egyptian Livestock Die

9 Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says ^(B)the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. ²For if you refuse to let them go and still hold them, ³behold, ^(C)the hand of the Lord will fall with a very severe plague upon your livestock that are in the field, the horses, the donkeys, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. ⁴^(D)But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing of all that belongs to the people of Israel shall die.”’” ⁵And the Lord set a time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.” ⁶And the next day the Lord did this thing. ^(E)All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one of the livestock of the people of Israel died. ⁷And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not one of the livestock of Israel was dead. But ^(F)the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

The Sixth Plague: Boils

⁸And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw them in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. ⁹It shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become ^(G)boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” ¹⁰So they took soot from the kiln and stood before Pharaoh. And Moses threw it in the air, and it became boils breaking out in sores on man and beast. ¹¹And ^(H)the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils came upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians. ¹²^(I)But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as ^(J)the Lord had spoken to Moses.

The Seventh Plague: Hail

¹³Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(K)“Rise up early in the morning and present yourself before Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. ¹⁴For this time I will send all my plagues on you yourself,^[a] and on your servants and your people, so ^(L)that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. ¹⁵For by now I could have put out my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth. ¹⁶^(M)But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so ^(N)that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth. ¹⁷^(O)You are still exalting yourself against my people and will not let them go. ¹⁸Behold, about this time tomorrow I will cause very heavy hail to fall, such as never has been in Egypt from the day it was founded until now. ¹⁹Now therefore send, ^(P)get your livestock and all that you have in the field into safe shelter, for every man and beast that is in the field and is not brought home will die when the hail falls on them.”’” ²⁰Then whoever feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh hurried his slaves and his livestock into the houses, ²¹but whoever did not pay attention to the word of the Lord left his slaves and his livestock in the field.

²²Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that there may be ^(Q)hail in all the land of Egypt, on man and beast and every plant of the field, in the land of Egypt.” ²³Then Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the ^(R)Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴There was hail and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very heavy hail, such as had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. ²⁵The hail struck down everything that was in the field in all the land of Egypt, both man and beast. And the hail ^(S)struck down every plant of the field and broke every tree of the field. ²⁶^(T)Only in the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel were, was there no hail.

²⁷Then Pharaoh sent and called Moses and Aaron and said to them, “This time ^(U)I have sinned; the ^(V)Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. ²⁸^(W)Plead with the Lord, for there has been enough of God's thunder and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” ²⁹Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, ^(X)I will stretch out my hands to the Lord. The thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that ^(Y)the earth is the Lord's. ³⁰But as for you and your servants, ^(Z)I know that you do not yet fear the Lord God.” ³¹(The flax and the barley were struck down, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. ³²But the wheat and the emmer^[b] were not struck down, for they are late in coming up.) ³³So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and ^(AA)stretched out his hands to the Lord, and the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured upon the earth. ³⁴But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet again and ^(AB)hardened his heart, ^(AC)he and his servants. ³⁵So ^(AD)the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people of Israel go, just as the Lord had spoken through Moses.

The Plague on Livestock

9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, so that they may worship^(A) me.” ²If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back, ³the hand^(B) of the Lord will bring a terrible plague^(C) on your livestock in the field—on your horses, donkeys and camels and on your cattle, sheep and goats. ⁴But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt,^(D) so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”

⁵The Lord set a time and said, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this in the land.” ⁶And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock^(E) of the Egyptians died,^(F) but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died. ⁷Pharaoh investigated and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart^(G) was unyielding and he would not let the people go.^(H)

The Plague of Boils

⁸Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh. ⁹It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils^(I) will break out on people and animals throughout the land.”

¹⁰So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on people and animals. ¹¹The magicians^(J) could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians. ¹²But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart^(K) and he would not listen^(L) to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said to Moses.

The Plague of Hail

¹³Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship^(M) me, ¹⁴or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know^(N) that there is no one like^(O) me in all the earth. ¹⁵For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people^(P) with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. ¹⁶But I have raised you up^[a] for this very purpose,^(Q) that I might show you my power^(R) and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. ¹⁷You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go. ¹⁸Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm^(S) that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.^(T) ¹⁹Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every person and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.’”

²⁰Those officials of Pharaoh who feared^(U) the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. ²¹But those who ignored^(V) the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field.

²²Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt—on people and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt.” ²³When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the Lord sent thunder^(W) and hail,^(X) and lightning flashed down to the ground. So the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt; ²⁴hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.^(Y) ²⁵Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields—both people and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.^(Z) ²⁶The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen,^(AA) where the Israelites were.^(AB)

²⁷Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,”^(AC) he said to them. “The Lord is in the right,^(AD) and I and my people are in the wrong. ²⁸Pray^(AE) to the Lord, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go;^(AF) you don’t have to stay any longer.”

²⁹Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands^(AG) in prayer to the Lord. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth^(AH) is the Lord’s. ³⁰But I know that you and your officials still do not fear^(AI) the Lord God.”

³¹(The flax and barley^(AJ) were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom. ³²The wheat and spelt,^(AK) however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.)

³³Then Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the Lord; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain no longer poured down on the land. ³⁴When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts. ³⁵So Pharaoh’s heart^(AL) was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the Lord had said through Moses.
