7 Тогава първосвещеникът рече: това тъй ли е?
2 А той отговори: мъже братя и отци, чуйте! Бог на славата се бе явил на отца ни Авраама, когато беше в Месопотамия, преди той да се засели в Харан,
3 (A)и му каза: „излез от твоята земя, от твоя род и от дома на баща си, та дойди в земята, която ще ти покажа“.
4 Тогава той излезе от земята Халдейска и се засели в Харан, а оттам, след бащината му смърт, Бог го пресели в тая земя, дето вие сега живеете.
5 И не му даде в нея наследство ни една стъпка, а обеща да я даде за владение нему и на потомството му след него, когато той още нямаше чедо.
6 (B)И говори Бог така: „потомците ти ще бъдат пришълци в чужда земя, и ще бъдат поробени и притеснени четиристотин години.
7 Но Аз ще съдя оня народ, под чието робство ще бъдат; и след това те ще излязат и ще Ми служат на това място“.
8 (C)И даде му завет за обрязване. След това той роди Исаака и го обряза на осмия ден; а Исаак роди Иакова, Иаков пък – дванайсетте патриарси.
9 (D)Патриарсите завидяха на Иосифа и го продадоха в Египет; ала Бог беше с него,
10 (E)избави го от всичките му неволи и му дарува благоволение и мъдрост пред фараона, египетски цар, който го и постави началник над Египет и над целия си дом.
11 Тогава настана глад и голяма неволя по цялата земя Египетска и Ханаанска, и нашите бащи не намираха храна.
12 (F)А Иаков, като чу, че в Египет имало жито, изпрати бащите ни за първи път.
13 (G)А когато отидоха втори път, Иосиф се откри на братята си, и Иосифовият род стана известен на фараона.
14 (H)Иосиф прати та повика баща си Иакова и целия си род – седемдесет и пет души.
15 (I)Иаков слезе в Египет, и се помина там – той и бащите ни;
16 (J)и ги пренесоха в Сихем и положиха в гроб, що бе купил Авраам със сребро от синовете на Емора Сихемски.
17 (K)И като наближаваше време да се изпълни обетът, за който Бог се бе клел на Авраама, народът растеше и се умножаваше в Египет,
18 докле дойде друг цар, който не познаваше Иосифа;
19 той, лукавствувайки против нашия род, притесняваше бащите ни, като ги принуждаваше да хвърлят децата си, за да не остават живи.
20 (L)В това време се роди Моисей, който беше Богу мил. Три месеца го отглеждаха в бащиния му дом.
21 (M)А когато беше хвърлен, прибра го фараоновата дъщеря и си го отхрани като син.
22 И научен биде Моисей на всичката мъдрост египетска, и беше силен на думи и дела.
23 Когато той навършваше четирийсет години, дойде му наум да споходи своите братя, синовете Израилеви.
24 (N)И като видя, че обиждат едного от тях, защити го и отмъсти за оскърбения, като уби египтянина.
25 Той мислеше, че братята му ще разберат, какво Бог чрез неговата ръка ще им даде спасение, но те не разбраха.
26 (O)На другия ден, когато някои от тях се биеха, той се яви и ги придумваше да се помирят, казвайки: „мъже, вие сте братя; защо се обиждате един други?“
27 Но онзи, който обиждаше своя ближен, го отблъсна и рече: „кой те е поставил началник и съдия над нас?
28 Да не би да искаш и мене да убиеш, както уби вчера египтянина?“
29 От тия думи Моисей забягна и стана пришълец в земята Мадиамска, дето му се родиха два сина.
30 (P)Като се изминаха четирийсет години, яви му се в пустинята на планина Синай Ангел Господен в огнения пламък на една къпина.
31 Моисей, като видя, почуди се на туй видение; а кога се приближи да разгледа, дойде до него глас Господен:
32 „Аз съм Бог на твоите отци, Бог Авраамов, Бог Исааков и Бог Иаковов“. Моисей се разтрепери и не смееше да погледне.
33 А Господ му каза: „събуй си обущата от нозете, защото мястото, на което стоиш, е земя свята.
34 Аз видях, видях неволите на Моя народ в Египет и чух стенанията му, та слязох да го избавя; и сега дойди, ще те пратя в Египет“.
35 (Q)Тоя Моисей, когото те бяха отхвърлили, казвайки: „кой те е поставил началник и съдия“, – него Бог, чрез явилия му се в къпината Ангел, проводи за началник и избавител.
36 Той ги изведе, като направи чудеса и личби в Египетската земя и в Червено море и в пустинята през четирийсет години.
37 (R)Това е онзи Моисей, който бе казал на синовете Израилеви: „Господ, Бог ваш, ще въздигне вам измежду братята ви Пророк като мене; Него ще слушате“.
38 (S)Това е оня, който при събранието в пустинята беше с говорилия му на планина Синай Ангел и с нашите бащи; това е оня, който прие живи думи, за да ги предаде нам,
39 и комуто нашите бащи не искаха да се покорят, а го отблъснаха и се обърнаха със сърцата си към Египет,
40 (T)като рекоха на Аарона: „направи ни богове, които да вървят пред нас; защото не знаем, какво се е случило на тоя Моисей, който ни изведе из Египетската земя“.
41 И направиха в ония дни теле, и принесоха жертва на идола и се веселяха пред делото на своите ръце.
42 (U)А Бог се отвърна и ги остави да служат на войнството небесно, както е писано в книгата на пророците: „доме Израилев, принасяхте ли Ми вие заколения и жертви през четирийсет години в пустинята?
43 (V)Вие възприехте скинията Молохова и звездата на вашия бог Ремфана, образи, които направихте, за да им се покланяте; и Аз ще ви преселя оттатък Вавилон“.
44 (W)Скинията на свидетелството бе сред нашите отци в пустинята, както бе заповядал Оня, Който говори на Моисея да я направи по образец, какъвто бе видял.

48 (AA)Ала Всевишният не живее в ръкотворни храмове, както казва пророкът:
49 (AB)„небето е Мой престол, а земята подножие на нозете Ми. Какъв дом ще Ми съзидате, казва Господ, или кое място е за Моя почивка?
50 Нали Моята ръка направи всичко това?“
51 (AC)Твърдоглавци и необрязани по сърце и уши! Вие всякога се противите на Светия Дух, както бащите ви, тъй и вие.
52 (AD)Кого от пророците не гониха бащите ви? Те убиха ония, които предизвестиха идването на Праведника, Чиито предатели и убийци станахте вие сега, –
53 (AE)вие, които приехте Закона при служение на Ангелите, а го не спазихте.

60 (AI)И, като коленичи, викна с висок глас: Господи, не зачитай им тоя грях! И като каза това, почина.

Discurso de Esteban
7 El sumo sacerdote dijo: «¿Es esto así?».
2 Esteban respondió: «Escúchenme, hermanos y padres(A). El Dios de gloria(B) apareció a nuestro padre Abraham cuando estaba en Mesopotamia, antes que habitara en Harán(C), 3 y le dijo: “Sal de tu tierra y de tu familia, y ve a la tierra que Yo te mostraré(D)”.
4 »Entonces Abraham salió de la tierra de los caldeos y se estableció en Harán(E). Y de allí, después de la muerte de su padre, Dios lo trasladó a esta tierra en la cual ahora ustedes habitan(F). 5 No le dio en ella heredad, ni siquiera la medida de la planta del pie, y sin embargo, aunque no tenía hijo, prometió que se la daría en posesión a él y a su descendencia después de él(G). 6 Y Dios dijo así: “(H)Que sus descendientes serían extranjeros en una tierra extraña, y que serían esclavizados y maltratados[a] por 400 años. 7 Pero Yo mismo juzgaré a cualquier nación de la cual sean esclavos”, dijo Dios, “y después de eso saldrán y me servirán[b] en este lugar(I)”. 8 Dios le dio el pacto[c] de la circuncisión(J); y así Abraham vino a ser el padre de Isaac, y lo circuncidó al octavo día(K); e Isaac vino a ser el padre de Jacob(L), y Jacob de los doce patriarcas(M).
9 »Los patriarcas tuvieron envidia de José y lo vendieron para Egipto(N). Pero Dios estaba con él, 10 y lo rescató de todas sus aflicciones. Le dio gracia(O) y sabiduría delante de Faraón, rey de Egipto, y este lo puso por gobernador sobre Egipto y sobre toda su casa.
11 »Entonces vino hambre sobre todo Egipto y Canaán(P), y con ella gran aflicción, y nuestros padres no hallaban alimentos. 12 Pero cuando Jacob supo[d] que había grano[e] en Egipto(Q), envió a nuestros padres allá la primera vez. 13 En la segunda visita, José se dio a conocer a sus hermanos(R), y conoció[f] Faraón la familia de José(S). 14 José, enviando mensaje, mandó llamar a Jacob su padre y a toda su familia(T), en total setenta y cinco(U) personas(V).
15 »Y Jacob descendió a Egipto, y allí murió(W) él y también nuestros padres. 16 De allí fueron trasladados a Siquem, y puestos en el sepulcro que por una suma de dinero había comprado Abraham a los hijos de Hamor(X) en Siquem.
17 »Pero a medida que se acercaba el tiempo(Y) de la promesa que Dios había confirmado a Abraham, el pueblo crecía y se multiplicaba en Egipto(Z), 18 hasta que surgió otro rey en Egipto que no sabía nada de José(AA). 19 Este rey, obrando con astucia contra nuestro pueblo[g], maltrató a nuestros padres, a fin de que expusieran a la muerte a[h] sus niños para que no vivieran(AB).
20 »Fue por ese tiempo que Moisés nació. Era hermoso a la vista de Dios[i], y fue criado por tres meses en la casa de su padre(AC). 21 Después de ser abandonado[j] para morir, la hija de Faraón se lo llevó[k] y lo crió como su propio hijo(AD). 22 Moisés fue instruido en toda la sabiduría de los egipcios(AE), y era un hombre poderoso en palabras y en hechos.
23 »Pero cuando iba a cumplir la edad de cuarenta años(AF), sintió[l] en su corazón el deseo de visitar a sus hermanos, los israelitas(AG). 24 Al ver que uno de ellos era tratado injustamente, lo defendió y vengó al[m] oprimido, matando[n] al egipcio. 25 Pensaba que sus hermanos entendían que Dios les estaba dando libertad[o] por medio de él[p], pero ellos no entendieron.
26 »Al día siguiente se les presentó, cuando dos de ellos reñían, y trató de poner paz entre ellos, diciendo: “Varones, ustedes son hermanos, ¿por qué se hieren[q] el uno al otro(AH)?”. 27 Pero el que estaba hiriendo[r] a su prójimo lo empujó, diciendo: “¿Quién te ha puesto por gobernante y juez sobre nosotros(AI)? 28 ¿Acaso quieres matarme como mataste ayer al egipcio(AJ)?”. 29 Al oír estas palabras, Moisés huyó y se convirtió en extranjero en la tierra de Madián(AK), donde fue padre de dos hijos(AL).
30 »Pasados cuarenta años, se le apareció un ángel(AM) en el desierto del monte Sinaí, en la llama de una zarza que ardía(AN). 31 Al ver esto, Moisés se maravillaba de la visión, y al acercarse para ver mejor, vino a él la voz del Señor: 32 “Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac, y de Jacob(AO)”. Moisés temblando, no se atrevía a mirar.
33 »Pero el Señor le dijo: “Quítate las sandalias de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás es tierra santa(AP). 34 Ciertamente he visto la opresión de Mi pueblo en Egipto y he oído sus gemidos, y he descendido para librarlos(AQ); ven[s] ahora y te enviaré a Egipto(AR)”.
35 Este Moisés, a quien ellos rechazaron, diciendo: “¿Quién te ha puesto por gobernante y juez(AS)?” es el mismo que Dios envió[t] para ser gobernante y libertador con la ayuda[u] del ángel que se le apareció en la zarza. 36 Este hombre los sacó(AT), haciendo prodigios y señales[v](AU) en la tierra de Egipto, en el mar Rojo y en el desierto por cuarenta años(AV).
37 »Este es el mismo Moisés que dijo a los israelitas: “Dios les levantará un profeta como yo[w] de entre sus hermanos(AW)”. 38 Este es el que estaba en la congregación[x] en el desierto(AX) junto con el ángel que le hablaba en el monte Sinaí(AY), y con nuestros padres, y el que recibió palabras[y](AZ) de vida[z](BA) para transmitirlas a ustedes, 39 al cual nuestros padres no quisieron obedecer[aa], sino que lo repudiaron, y en sus corazones desearon regresar a Egipto(BB), 40 diciendo a Aarón: “Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros, porque a este Moisés que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, no sabemos lo que le haya pasado(BC)”.
41 »En aquellos días hicieron un becerro y ofrecieron sacrificio al ídolo(BD), y se regocijaban en las obras de sus manos(BE). 42 Pero Dios se apartó de ellos y los entregó para que sirvieran[ab] al ejército del cielo(BF), como está escrito en el libro de los profetas: “¿(BG)Acaso fue a Mí a quien ofrecieron víctimas y sacrificios en el desierto por cuarenta años(BH), casa de Israel? 43 También llevaron el tabernáculo de Moloc, y la estrella del dios Renfan, las imágenes que hicieron para adorarlas. Yo también los deportaré más allá de Babilonia”.
44 »Nuestros padres tuvieron el tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto, tal como le había ordenado que lo hiciera el que habló a Moisés, conforme al modelo que había visto(BI). 45 A su vez, habiéndolo recibido, nuestros padres lo introdujeron con Josué al tomar[ac] posesión de las naciones[ad] que Dios arrojó de delante de nuestros padres(BJ), hasta los días de David. 46 Y David[ae] halló gracia delante de Dios(BK), y pidió el favor de hallar una morada para el Dios[af] de Jacob(BL). 47 Pero fue Salomón quien le edificó una casa(BM).
48 »Sin embargo, el Altísimo(BN) no habita en casas hechas por manos de hombres; como dice el profeta:
49 “(BO)El cielo es Mi trono,
Y la tierra el estrado de Mis pies;
¿Qué casa me edificarán?”, dice el Señor,
“¿O cuál es el lugar de Mi reposo?
50 -”¿No fue Mi mano la que hizo todas estas cosas?”.
51 »Ustedes, que son tercos e incircuncisos de corazón(BP) y de oídos, resisten siempre al Espíritu Santo; como hicieron sus padres, así hacen también ustedes. 52 ¿A cuál de los profetas no persiguieron sus padres(BQ)? Ellos mataron a los que antes habían anunciado la venida del Justo(BR), del cual ahora ustedes se hicieron traidores y asesinos(BS); 53 ustedes que recibieron la ley por disposición de ángeles(BT) y sin embargo no la guardaron».
Martirio de Esteban
54 Al oír esto, se sintieron profundamente ofendidos[ag](BU), y crujían los dientes contra él. 55 Pero Esteban, lleno del Espíritu Santo(BV), fijos los ojos en el cielo(BW), vio la gloria de Dios y a Jesús de pie a la diestra de Dios(BX); 56 y dijo: «Veo los cielos abiertos(BY), y al Hijo del Hombre(BZ) de pie a la diestra de Dios».
57 Entonces ellos gritaron a gran voz, y tapándose los oídos se lanzaron a una contra él. 58 Echándolo fuera de la ciudad, comenzaron a apedrearlo(CA); y los testigos(CB) pusieron sus mantos a los pies de un joven llamado Saulo(CC). 59 Y mientras lo apedreaban, Esteban invocaba al Señor(CD) y decía: «Señor Jesús, recibe mi espíritu».
60 Cayendo de rodillas(CE), clamó en alta voz: «Señor, no les tomes en cuenta este pecado(CF)». Habiendo dicho esto, durmió[ah](CG).

7 Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
2 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
5 And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
6 And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.
7 And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.
13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
14 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
15 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,
16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.
22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
26 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?
27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
28 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.
30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,
32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
45 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him an house.
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
