Среща на Яков с Исав
33 Яков се огледа и видя, че Исав идва, а с него – четиристотин мъже. Той разпредели децата на Лия, Рахил и двете робини. 2 Робините с децата им сложи отпред, Лия с децата ѝ – след тях, Рахил с Йосиф – най-отзад, 3 а сам той тръгна пред всички тях. Когато се приближи до брат си, Яков седем пъти се поклони до земята. 4 Исав се завтече насреща му, прегърна го, хвърли се на шията му и го целуна. И те заплакаха. 5 Когато видя жените и децата, Исав попита: „Какви са ти всички тези?“ Яков отговори: „Това са децата, които Бог подари на твоя роб.“ 6 Тогава се приближиха робините заедно с децата си и се поклониха. 7 Лия също се приближи заедно с децата си и се поклониха. Най-после се приближиха Йосиф и Рахил и се поклониха. 8 Исав отново попита: „Какво беше това множество, което аз срещнах?“ Яков отговори: „Исках да придобия благоволение пред очите на господаря си.“ 9 Исав каза: „Аз имам доволно, братко, нека твоето остане при тебе.“ 10 Яков настоя: „Не, моля ти се, ако аз съм придобил благоволение пред тебе, приеми тогава моя дар от ръцете ми. Защото, когато видях лицето ти, като че ли видях Божието лице, понеже ти се оказа благосклонен към мен. 11 Приеми донесените от мене дарове, защото Бог щедро ме е обдарил и аз имам всичко.“ Така Яков придума Исав. Той взе даровете 12 и каза: „Да тръгнем и да вървим. Аз ще вървя с тебе.“ 13 Но Яков му отговори: „Моят господар знае, че децата ми са крехки, а моят дребен и едър добитък е доен. Пресиля ли го само един ден – цялото стадо ще измре. 14 Затова нека моят господар тръгне пред своя роб. А аз ще вървя бавно, според вървежа на добитъка, който е пред мене, и според вървежа на децата, докато пристигна при господаря си в Сеир.“ 15 Исав предложи: „Поне да оставя с тебе няколко от мъжете, които са при мене.“ Яков възрази: „Защо? Достатъчно ми е само да придобия благоволение пред Своя господар.“ 16 Същия ден Исав се върна в Сеир. 17 А Яков потегли за Сокхот, където си построи къща, както и кошари за своя добитък. Затова той нарече това място Сокхот. 18 (A)След като се завърна от Месопотамия, Яков пристигна благополучно в град Сихем, който се намира в ханаанската земя. Тук той се разположи на стан пред този град. 19 (B)От синовете на Емор, Сихемовия баща, той купи за сто монети част от нивата, където разположи шатрата си. 20 Там той построи жертвеник и го нарече Ел-Елохе-Исраел.

33 Погледна Иаков и видя, и ето, Исав (брат му) иде, и с него четиристотин души. И раздели (Иаков) децата на Лия, Рахил и двете слугини.
2 И тури (двете) слугини с децата им напред, Лия с децата ѝ подир тях, а Рахил с Иосифа най-подир.
3 А сам тръгна пред тях и седем пъти се поклони доземи, приближавайки се до брата си.
4 И се затече Исав насреща му, прегърна го, хвърли се на шията му и го целува; и плакаха (двамата).
5 И погледна (Исав) и видя жените и децата и рече: какви ти са тия? Иаков отговори: деца, които Бог подари на твоя слуга.
6 Тогава се приближиха слугините с децата си и се поклониха;
7 приближиха се Лия и децата ѝ и се поклониха; най-сетне приближиха се Иосиф и Рахил и се поклониха.
8 (A)И попита Исав: за какво ти е това множество, което аз срещнах? Отговори Иаков: за да придобие (твоят слуга) благоволение пред очите на господаря си.
9 Исав рече: аз имам много, братко; нека твоето остане у тебе.
10 Иаков рече: не, ако аз съм придобил благоволение пред очите ти, приеми моя дар от ръцете ми; защото видях лицето ти, като да бе някой видял лицето Божие, и ти биде благосклонен към мен;
11 приеми даровете ми, които ти съм донесъл, защото Бог ме е надарил, и всичко имам. Придума го. И той ги взе
12 и рече: да се дигнем и потеглим; и аз ще вървя пред тебе.
13 Иаков му рече: господарят ми знае, че децата ми са нежни, а дребният и едрият ми добитък е доен: ако го караме усилено един само ден, то ще измре всичкият добитък;
14 нека господарят ми тръгне пред своя слуга, а аз ще вървя бавно, според както върви добитъкът пред мен, и според както вървят децата, и ще дойда при господаря си в Сеир.
15 Исав рече: ще оставя с тебе неколцина от човеците, които са при мене. Иаков отвърна: та защо? стига ми само да придобия благоволение пред очите на господаря си!
16 И се върна Исав в същия ден по пътя си в Сеир.
17 (B)А Иаков потегли за Сокхот, дето си направи дом, и за добитъка си направи колиби. Затова нарече мястото с име Сокхот.
18 Иаков, като се върна от Месопотамия, пристигна благополучно в град Сихем, който е в Ханаанската земя, и се разположи пред града.
19 (C)И купи част от нивата, дето разпъна шатрата си, от синовете на Емора, Сихемовия баща, за сто монети.
20 И съгради там жертвеник; и призова името на Господа, Бога Израилев.

33 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
20 And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.

Jacob and Esau Meet
33 Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, (A)Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants. 2 And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last. 3 Then he crossed over before them and (B)bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 (C)But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, (D)and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 5 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, “Who are these with you?”
So he said, “The children (E)whom God has graciously given your servant.” 6 Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down. 7 And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down.
8 Then Esau said, “What do you mean by (F)all this company which I met?”
And he said, “These are (G)to find favor in the sight of my lord.”
9 But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”
10 And Jacob said, “No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I (H)have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me. 11 Please, take (I)my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt (J)graciously with me, and because I have [a]enough.” (K)So he urged him, and he took it.
12 Then Esau said, “Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you.”
13 But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die. 14 Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, [b]are able to endure, until I come to my lord (L)in Seir.”
15 And Esau said, “Now let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.”
But he said, “What need is there? (M)Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.” 16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. 17 And Jacob journeyed to (N)Succoth, built himself a house, and made [c]booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called [d]Succoth.
Jacob Comes to Canaan
18 Then Jacob came [e]safely to (O)the city of (P)Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram; and he pitched his tent before the city. 19 And (Q)he bought the parcel of [f]land, where he had pitched his tent, from the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money. 20 Then he erected an altar there and called it (R)El[g] Elohe Israel.
