28 (A)И (му) рече: отсега името ти ще бъде не Иаков, а Израил, защото ти се бори с Бога, та и човеци ще надвиваш.
29 (B)Попита Иаков, думайки: обади (ми) Твоето име. А Той отговори: защо Ме питаш за името Ми? (то е чудно.) И го благослови там.
30 (C)И нарече Иаков онова място с име Пенуел; защото, казваше, видях Бога лице с лице, и се запази душата ми.

28 Then the man said, “Your name(A) will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[a](B) because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”(C)
29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”(D)
But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?”(E) Then he blessed(F) him there.
30 So Jacob called the place Peniel,[b] saying, “It is because I saw God face to face,(G) and yet my life was spared.”
