3 Слушайте това слово, което Господ изговори против вас, израелтяни – против целия род, каза Господ, който изведох от Египетската земя, като казах:
2 (A)Само вас познах
между всичките родове на света;
затова ще ви накажа за всичките ви беззакония.
Присъдата на целия Яковов дом
3 Ще ходят ли двама заедно,
ако не се съгласят?
4 Ще изреве ли лъвът в гората,
ако няма плячка?
Ще нададе ли глас младият лъв от леговището си,
ако не е уловил нищо?
5 Може ли птица да попадне в клопка на земята,
където няма примка за нея?
Скача ли примка от земята,
без да е хванала нещо?
6 (B)Може ли да засвири тръба в град
и народът да не се уплаши?
Може ли бедствие да сполети град
и да не го е направил Господ?
7 (C)Наистина Господ Йехова няма да направи нищо,
без да открие Своето намерение на слугите Си, пророците.
8 (D)Лъвът изрева; кой няма да се уплаши?
Господ Йехова изговори; кой няма да пророкува?
9 Прогласете в планините на Азот
и в планините на Египетската земя
и кажете: Съберете се по планините на Самария
и вижте големите метежи сред нея
и какви насилия има вътре в нея.
10 (E)Защото Господ казва: Онези, които натрупват в палатите си плода на насилие и грабеж,
не знаят да вършат правото.
11 (F)Затова така казва Господ Йехова:
Неприятелят ще окръжава земята ти
и ще смъкне от тебе силата ти,
и палатите ти ще бъдат разграбени.
12 Така казва Господ:
Както овчарят изтръгва от лъвовите уста
две колена или част от ухо,
така ще изтръгнат израилтяните,
които в Самария седят в ъгъла на постелка
и на копринени възглавници на легло.
13 Слушайте и предупредете Якововия дом,
казва Господ Йехова, Бог на Силите,
14 че в деня, когато нанеса наказание върху Израил за престъплението му,
ще накажа и жертвениците на Ветил
и роговете на жертвеника ще бъдат отсечени
и ще паднат на земята.
15 (G)Ще поразя и зимната къща заедно с лятната къща,
къщите от слонова кост ще бъдат разрушени
и на големите къщи ще се сложи край, казва Господ.

3 Ще ходят ли двама заедно, Ако не се съгласят?
4 Ще изреве ли лъвът в леса Ако няма лов? Ще издаде ли гласа си младият лъв от леговището си Ако не е хванал нещо?
5 Може ли птица да попадне в клопка на земята Дето няма примка за нея? Скача ли примка от земята Без да е хванала нещо?
6 Може ли да засвири тръба в град И людете да не се уплашат? Може ли бедствие да сполети град И да не го е направил Господ?
7 Наистина Господ Иеова няма да направи нищо Без да открие Своето намерение на слугите Си пророците.
8 Лъвът изрева; кой не ще се уплаши? Господ Иеова изговори; кой не ще пророкува?

Yahweh Speaks Against Israel
3 Hear this word which Yahweh has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire [a](A)family which [b]He brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 “(B)You only have I known among all the families of the earth;
Therefore I will [c](C)punish you for all your iniquities.”
3 Do two men walk together unless they have made an [d]appointment?
4 Does a (D)lion roar in the forest when it has no prey?
Does a young lion give forth its voice from its den unless it has captured something?
5 Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no [e]bait in it?
Does a trap spring up from the earth when it captures nothing at all?
6 If a (E)trumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble?
If a (F)calamity happens in a city has not Yahweh done it?
7 [f]Surely Lord Yahweh does nothing
Unless He (G)reveals His secret counsel
To His slaves the prophets.
8 A (H)lion has roared! Who will not fear?
(I)Lord Yahweh has spoken! (J)Who can but prophesy?
9 Make it heard on the citadels in (K)Ashdod and on the citadels in the land of Egypt and say, “Gather yourselves on the (L)mountains of Samaria and see the great confusions within her and the (M)oppressions in her midst. 10 But they (N)do not know how to do what is right,” declares Yahweh, “these who (O)hoard up [g]violence and devastation in their citadels.”
11 Therefore, thus says Lord Yahweh,
“An (P)adversary, even one surrounding the land,
Will pull down your [h]strength from you,
And your (Q)citadels will be plundered.”
12 Thus says Yahweh,
“Just as the shepherd (R)delivers from the lion’s mouth a couple of legs or a piece of an ear,
So will the sons of Israel inhabiting Samaria be delivered—
With the (S)corner of a bed and the [i](T)cover of a couch!
13 Hear and (U)testify against the house of Jacob,”
Declares Lord Yahweh, the God of hosts.
14 “For on the day that I punish Israel’s transgressions,
I will also punish the altars of (V)Bethel;
The horns of the altar will be cut in pieces,
And they will fall to the ground.
15 I will also strike the [j](W)winter house together with the (X)summer house;
The houses of [k](Y)ivory will also perish,
And the (Z)great houses will come to an end,”
Declares Yahweh.

Witnesses Summoned Against Israel
3 Hear this word, people of Israel, the word the Lord has spoken against you(A)—against the whole family I brought up out of Egypt:(B)
2 “You only have I chosen(C)
of all the families of the earth;
therefore I will punish(D) you
for all your sins.(E)”
3 Do two walk together
unless they have agreed to do so?
4 Does a lion roar(F) in the thicket
when it has no prey?(G)
Does it growl in its den
when it has caught nothing?
5 Does a bird swoop down to a trap on the ground
when no bait(H) is there?
Does a trap spring up from the ground
if it has not caught anything?
6 When a trumpet(I) sounds in a city,
do not the people tremble?
When disaster(J) comes to a city,
has not the Lord caused it?(K)
7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing
without revealing his plan(L)
to his servants the prophets.(M)
8 The lion(N) has roared(O)—
who will not fear?
The Sovereign Lord has spoken—
who can but prophesy?(P)
9 Proclaim to the fortresses of Ashdod(Q)
and to the fortresses of Egypt:
“Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria;(R)
see the great unrest within her
and the oppression among her people.”
10 “They do not know how to do right,(S)” declares the Lord,
“who store up in their fortresses(T)
what they have plundered(U) and looted.”
11 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“An enemy will overrun your land,
pull down your strongholds
and plunder your fortresses.(V)”
12 This is what the Lord says:
“As a shepherd rescues from the lion’s(W) mouth
only two leg bones or a piece of an ear,
so will the Israelites living in Samaria be rescued,
with only the head of a bed
and a piece of fabric[a] from a couch.[b](X)”
13 “Hear this and testify(Y) against the descendants of Jacob,” declares the Lord, the Lord God Almighty.
14 “On the day I punish(Z) Israel for her sins,
I will destroy the altars of Bethel;(AA)
the horns(AB) of the altar will be cut off
and fall to the ground.
15 I will tear down the winter house(AC)
along with the summer house;(AD)
the houses adorned with ivory(AE) will be destroyed
and the mansions(AF) will be demolished,(AG)”
declares the Lord.(AH)
