1 ^(A)Думи на Амоса, един от пастирите текойски, думи, които той чу във видение за Израиля в дните на иудейския цар Озия, и в дните на израилския цар Иеровоама, син Иоасов, две години преди труса.

²^(B)И рече той: Господ ще загърми от Сион и ще издаде гласа Си из Иерусалим, – и ще се разплачат хижите пастирски, и ще изсъхне върхът на Кармил.

³^(C)Тъй казва Господ: за три престъпления на Дамаск и за четири няма да го пощадя, защото те вършаха Галаад с железни дикани.

⁴^(D)И ще пратя огън върху дома на Азаила – и той ще погълне дворците на Венадада.

⁵^(E)И ще разбия заворките на Дамаск и ще изтребя жителите на долина Авен и оногова, който държи скиптър, из дома Еденов; народът арамейски ще отиде в плен в Кир, казва Господ.

⁶^(F)Тъй казва Господ: за три престъпления на Газа и за четири няма да я пощадя, защото те откараха всички в плен, за да ги предадат на Едома.

⁷И ще пратя огън в стените на Газа – и ще погълне дворците ѝ.

⁸^(G)И ще изтребя жителите на Азот и оногова, който държи скиптър в Аскалон, и ще обърна ръката Си против Екрон, – и ще загине остатъкът филистимци, казва Господ Бог.

⁹^(H)Тъй казва Господ: за три престъпления на Тир и за четири няма да го пощадя, защото те предадоха на Едома всички пленници, и не си спомниха за братския съюз.

¹⁰^(I)Ще пратя огън в стените на Тир – и ще погълне дворците му.

¹¹^(J)Тъй казва Господ: за три престъпления на Едома и за четири няма да го пощадя, защото той преследва брата си с меч, потъпка родствените чувства, свирепствува постоянно в гнева си и всякога запазваше яростта си.

¹²И ще пратя огън върху Теман, – и той ще погълне дворците на Восор.

¹³^(K)Тъй казва Господ: за три престъпления на синовете Амонови и за четири няма да ги пощадя, защото те разсичаха непразни в Галаад, за да разширят границите си.

¹⁴^(L)И ще запаля огън в стените на Рава – и той ще погълне дворците ѝ сред крясък в деня на битката, с вихър в деня на бурята.

¹⁵^(M)И ще отиде царят им в плен, той и князете му наедно с него, казва Господ.

1 Estas son las palabras de Amós, uno de los pastores de Tecoa. Es la visión que recibió acerca de Israel dos años antes del terremoto, cuando Uzías era rey de Judá y Jeroboán, hijo de Joás, era rey de Israel.

²Él dijo:

«Ruge el Señor desde Sión;
truena su voz desde Jerusalén.
Los pastizales de los pastores quedan asolados,
y se seca la cumbre del Carmelo».

Juicio contra las naciones vecinas

³Así dice el Señor:

«Por tres pecados de Damasco y por el cuarto,^[a]
    no anularé su castigo:
Porque trillaron a Galaad
    con trillos de hierro.
⁴Por eso yo enviaré fuego sobre el palacio de Jazael
    que consumirá las fortalezas de Ben Adad.
⁵Romperé el cerrojo de la puerta de Damasco,
    destruiré al rey que está en el valle de Avén^[b]
y al que empuña el cetro en Bet Edén.
    Y el pueblo de Aram será desterrado a Quir»,
    dice el Señor.

⁶Así dice el Señor:

«Por tres pecados de Gaza y por el cuarto,
    no anularé su castigo,
porque tomaron cautivas poblaciones enteras
    para venderlas a Edom.
⁷Por eso yo enviaré fuego sobre los muros de Gaza
    que consumirá sus fortalezas.
⁸Destruiré al rey de Asdod
    y al que empuña el cetro en Ascalón.
Volveré mi mano contra Ecrón,
    y perecerá hasta el último de los filisteos»,
    dice el Señor y Dios.

⁹Así dice el Señor:

«Por tres pecados de Tiro y por el cuarto,
    no anularé su castigo:
Porque le vendieron a Edom poblaciones enteras de cautivos,
    olvidando así una alianza entre hermanos.
¹⁰Por eso yo enviaré fuego sobre los muros de Tiro
    que consumirá sus fortalezas».

¹¹Así dice el Señor:

«Por tres pecados de Edom y por el cuarto,
    no anularé su castigo:
Porque persiguió a espada a su hermano
    y mató a las mujeres del país;
porque dio rienda suelta a la ira
    y no dejó de alimentar el enojo.
¹²Por eso yo enviaré fuego sobre Temán
    que consumirá las fortalezas de Bosra».

¹³Así dice el Señor:

«Por tres pecados de Amón y por el cuarto,
    no anularé su castigo,
porque abrieron el vientre a las mujeres embarazadas de Galaad
    a fin de extender sus fronteras.
¹⁴Por eso yo prenderé fuego a los muros de Rabá
    que consumirá sus fortalezas
entre gritos de guerra en el día de la batalla,
    y en el rugir de la tormenta en un día de tempestad.
¹⁵Su rey^[c] marchará al destierro,
    junto con sus oficiales»,
    dice el Señor.

1 The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa^(A)—the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake,^(B) when Uzziah^(C) was king of Judah and Jeroboam^(D) son of Jehoash^[a] was king of Israel.^(E)

²He said:

“The Lord roars^(F) from Zion
and thunders^(G) from Jerusalem;^(H)
the pastures of the shepherds dry up,
and the top of Carmel^(I) withers.”^(J)

Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors

³This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Damascus,^(K)
    even for four, I will not relent.^(L)
Because she threshed Gilead
    with sledges having iron teeth,
⁴I will send fire^(M) on the house of Hazael^(N)
    that will consume the fortresses^(O) of Ben-Hadad.^(P)
⁵I will break down the gate^(Q) of Damascus;
    I will destroy the king who is in^[b] the Valley of Aven^[c]
and the one who holds the scepter in Beth Eden.^(R)
    The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,^(S)”
says the Lord.^(T)

⁶This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Gaza,^(U)
    even for four, I will not relent.^(V)
Because she took captive whole communities
    and sold them to Edom,^(W)
⁷I will send fire on the walls of Gaza
    that will consume her fortresses.
⁸I will destroy the king^[d] of Ashdod^(X)
    and the one who holds the scepter in Ashkelon.
I will turn my hand^(Y) against Ekron,
    till the last of the Philistines^(Z) are dead,”^(AA)
says the Sovereign Lord.^(AB)

⁹This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Tyre,^(AC)
    even for four, I will not relent.^(AD)
Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom,
    disregarding a treaty of brotherhood,^(AE)
¹⁰I will send fire on the walls of Tyre
    that will consume her fortresses.^(AF)”

¹¹This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Edom,^(AG)
    even for four, I will not relent.
Because he pursued his brother with a sword^(AH)
    and slaughtered the women of the land,
because his anger raged continually
    and his fury flamed unchecked,^(AI)
¹²I will send fire on Teman^(AJ)
    that will consume the fortresses of Bozrah.^(AK)”

¹³This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Ammon,^(AL)
    even for four, I will not relent.
Because he ripped open the pregnant women^(AM) of Gilead
    in order to extend his borders,
¹⁴I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah^(AN)
    that will consume^(AO) her fortresses
amid war cries^(AP) on the day of battle,
    amid violent winds^(AQ) on a stormy day.
¹⁵Her king^[e] will go into exile,
    he and his officials together,^(AR)”
says the Lord.^(AS)

Judgments on Israel’s Neighbors

1 The words of Amos, who was among the ^(A)sheepbreeders of ^(B)Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of ^(C)Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of ^(D)Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the ^(E)earthquake.

²And he said:

“The Lord ^(F)roars from Zion,
And utters His voice from Jerusalem;
The pastures of the shepherds mourn,
And the top of ^(G)Carmel withers.”

Judgment on the Nations

³Thus says the Lord:

“For three transgressions of ^(H)Damascus, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they have ^(I)threshed Gilead with implements of iron.
⁴^(J)But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael,
Which shall devour the palaces of ^(K)Ben-Hadad.
⁵I will also break the gate ^(L)bar of Damascus,
And cut off the inhabitant from the Valley of Aven,
And the one who ^[a]holds the scepter from ^[b]Beth Eden.
The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir,”
Says the Lord.

⁶Thus says the Lord:

“For three transgressions of ^(M)Gaza, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they took captive the whole captivity
To deliver them up to Edom.
⁷^(N)But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza,
Which shall devour its palaces.
⁸I will cut off the inhabitant ^(O)from Ashdod,
And the one who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will ^(P)turn My hand against Ekron,
And ^(Q)the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”
Says the Lord God.

⁹Thus says the Lord:

“For three transgressions of ^(R)Tyre, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom,
And did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
¹⁰But I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre,
Which shall devour its palaces.”

¹¹Thus says the Lord:

“For three transgressions of ^(S)Edom, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because he pursued his ^(T)brother with the sword,
And cast off all pity;
His anger tore perpetually,
And he kept his wrath forever.
¹²But ^(U)I will send a fire upon Teman,
Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.”

¹³Thus says the Lord:

“For three transgressions of ^(V)the people of Ammon, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they ripped open the women with child in Gilead,
That they might enlarge their territory.
¹⁴But I will kindle a fire in the wall of ^(W)Rabbah,
And it shall devour its palaces,
^(X)Amid shouting in the day of battle,
And a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.
¹⁵^(Y)Their king shall go into captivity,
He and his princes together,”
Says the Lord.
