Parables on Prayer
18 Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they (A)ought to pray and not to (B)lose heart, 2 saying, “In a certain city there was a certain judge who did not fear God and did not (C)respect man. 3 Now there was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me justice from my opponent.’ 4 And for a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor (D)respect man, 5 yet (E)because this widow is bothering me, I will give her justice, lest by continually coming she [a](F)wears me out.’” 6 And (G)the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge *said. 7 Now, will God not (H)bring about justice for His (I)elect who cry to Him day and night, [b]and will He (J)delay long over them? 8 I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, (K)will He find that faith on the earth?”
9 And He also told this parable to some people who (L)trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and (M)viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men (N)went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee (O)stood and was praying these things to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I (P)fast twice a week; I (Q)pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, (R)standing some distance away, (S)was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but (T)was [c]beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be [d]merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other, (U)for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 (V)And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they were rebuking them. 16 But Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I say to you, (W)whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”
The Rich Young Ruler
18 (X)And a ruler questioned Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. 20 You know the commandments, ‘(Y)Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’” 21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” 22 And when Jesus heard this, He said to him, “One thing you still lack: (Z)sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have (AA)treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.” 23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. 24 And Jesus looked at him and said, “(AB)How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God! 25 For (AC)it is easier for a camel to [e]go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” 27 But He said, “(AD)The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
28 And Peter said, “Behold, (AE)we have left all that is our own and followed You.” 29 And He said to them, “Truly I say to you, (AF)there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times more at this time and in (AG)the age to come, eternal life.”
31 (AH)But when He took the twelve aside, He said to them, “Behold, (AI)we are going up to Jerusalem, and (AJ)all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be [f]completed. 32 (AK)For He will be [g]delivered over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon, 33 and after they have flogged Him, they will kill Him, and the third day He will rise again.” 34 But (AL)the disciples understood none of these things, and this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.
Bartimaeus Regains His Sight
35 (AM)Now it happened that as [h](AN)Jesus was approaching Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. 36 Now hearing a crowd going by, he began to inquire what this was. 37 They reported to him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” 38 And he called out, saying, “Jesus, (AO)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 And those who went ahead were rebuking him so that he would be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “(AP)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him, and when he came near, He questioned him, 41 “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!” 42 And Jesus said to him, “[i]Receive your sight; (AQ)your faith has [j]saved you.” 43 Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, (AR)glorifying God. And when (AS)all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.

法利赛人和税吏的祷告
9 耶稣向那些仗着自己是义人藐视别人的，设一个比喻， 10 说：“有两个人上殿里去祷告，一个是法利赛人，一个是税吏。 11 法利赛人站着，自言自语地祷告说：‘神啊，我感谢你，我不像别人勒索、不义、奸淫，也不像这个税吏。 12 我一个礼拜禁食两次，凡我所得的都捐上十分之一。’ 13 那税吏远远地站着，连举目望天也不敢，只捶着胸说：‘神啊，开恩可怜我这个罪人！’ 14 我告诉你们，这人回家去比那人倒算为义了。因为凡自高的，必降为卑；自卑的，必升为高。”
主接待小孩
15 有人抱着自己的婴孩来见耶稣，要他摸他们，门徒看见就责备那些人。 16 耶稣却叫他们来，说：“让小孩子到我这里来，不要禁止他们，因为在神国的正是这样的人。 17 我实在告诉你们：凡要承受神国的，若不像小孩子，断不能进去。”
当积财宝在天上
18 有一个官问耶稣说：“良善的夫子，我该做什么事才可以承受永生？” 19 耶稣对他说：“你为什么称我是良善的？除了神一位之外，再没有良善的。 20 诫命你是晓得的：不可奸淫，不可杀人，不可偷盗，不可作假见证，当孝敬父母。” 21 那人说：“这一切我从小都遵守了。” 22 耶稣听见了，就说：“你还缺少一件：要变卖你一切所有的，分给穷人，就必有财宝在天上；你还要来跟从我。” 23 他听见这话，就甚忧愁，因为他很富足。
贪财的难进天国
24 耶稣看见他，就说：“有钱财的人进神的国是何等地难哪！ 25 骆驼穿过针的眼，比财主进神的国还容易呢！” 26 听见的人说：“这样谁能得救呢？” 27 耶稣说：“在人所不能的事，在神却能。” 28 彼得说：“看哪，我们已经撇下自己所有的跟从你了！” 29 耶稣说：“我实在告诉你们：人为神的国撇下房屋或是妻子、弟兄、父母、儿女， 30 没有在今世不得百倍，在来世不得永生的。”
主预言受难
31 耶稣带着十二个门徒，对他们说：“看哪，我们上耶路撒冷去，先知所写的一切事都要成就在人子身上。 32 他将要被交给外邦人，他们要戏弄他，凌辱他，吐唾沫在他脸上， 33 并要鞭打他，杀害他，第三日他要复活。” 34 这些事门徒一样也不懂得，意思乃是隐藏的，他们不晓得所说的是什么。

The Parable of the Persistent Widow
18 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.(A) 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice(B) against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”(C)
6 And the Lord(D) said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out(E) to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man(F) comes,(G) will he find faith on the earth?”
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness(H) and looked down on everyone else,(I) Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray,(J) one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself(K) and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast(L) twice a week and give a tenth(M) of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast(N) and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’(O)
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(P)
The Little Children and Jesus(Q)
15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child(R) will never enter it.”
The Rich and the Kingdom of God(S)
18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”(T)
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’[a]”(U)
21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor,(V) and you will have treasure in heaven.(W) Then come, follow me.”
23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!(X) 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”(Y)
28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”(Z)
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come(AA) eternal life.”(AB)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(AC)
31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem,(AD) and everything that is written by the prophets(AE) about the Son of Man(AF) will be fulfilled. 32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles.(AG) They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33 they will flog him(AH) and kill him.(AI) On the third day(AJ) he will rise again.”(AK)
34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.(AL)
A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight(AM)
35 As Jesus approached Jericho,(AN) a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”(AO)
38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David,(AP) have mercy(AQ) on me!”
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”(AR)
40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”(AS) 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.(AT)

Parábola de la viuda y el juez injusto
18 También les refirió Jesús una parábola sobre la necesidad de orar siempre y no desmayar, 2 diciendo: «Había en una ciudad un juez que ni temía a Dios ni respetaba a hombre. 3 Había también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía a él diciendo: “Hazme justicia de mi adversario.” 4 Él no quiso por algún tiempo; pero después de esto dijo dentro de sí: “Aunque ni temo a Dios ni tengo respeto a hombre, 5 sin embargo, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia, no sea que viniendo de continuo me agote la paciencia.”»
6 Y dijo el Señor: «Oíd lo que dijo el juez injusto. 7 ¿Y acaso Dios no hará justicia a sus escogidos, que claman a él día y noche? ¿Se tardará en responderles? 8 Os digo que pronto les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, ¿hallará fe en la tierra?»
Parábola del fariseo y el publicano
9 A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola: 10 «Dos hombres subieron al Templo a orar: uno era fariseo y el otro publicano. 11 El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: “Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres: ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano; 12 ayuno dos veces a la semana, diezmo de todo lo que gano.” 13 Pero el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: “Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.” 14 Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro, porque cualquiera que se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido.»
Jesús bendice a los niños(A)
15 Traían a él niños para que los tocara. Al verlo los discípulos, los reprendieron. 16 Pero Jesús, llamándolos, dijo:
—Dejad a los niños venir a mí y no se lo impidáis, porque de los tales es el reino de Dios. 17 De cierto os digo que el que no recibe el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él.
El joven rico(B)
18 Un dignatario le preguntó, diciendo:
—Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para heredar la vida eterna?
19 Jesús le dijo:
—¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno, sino sólo Dios. 20 Los mandamientos sabes: “No adulterarás; no matarás; no hurtarás; no dirás falso testimonio; honra a tu padre y a tu madre.”
21 Él dijo:
—Todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud.
22 Al oír esto, Jesús le dijo:
—Aún te falta una cosa: vende todo lo que tienes y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.
23 Entonces él, oyendo esto, se puso muy triste porque era muy rico. 24 Al ver Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo:
—¡Cuán difícilmente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas! 25 Porque es más fácil que pase un camello por el ojo de una aguja que un rico entre en el reino de Dios.
26 Los que oyeron esto dijeron:
—¿Quién, pues, podrá ser salvo?
27 Él les dijo:
—Lo que es imposible para los hombres, es posible para Dios.
28 Entonces Pedro dijo:
—Pues nosotros hemos dejado nuestras posesiones y te hemos seguido.
29 Y él les dijo:
—De cierto os digo que no hay nadie que haya dejado casa, o padres o hermanos o mujer o hijos, por el reino de Dios, 30 que no haya de recibir mucho más en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna.
Jesús anuncia por tercera vez su muerte(C)
31 Tomando Jesús a los doce, les dijo:
—Cuando lleguemos a Jerusalén se cumplirán todas las cosas escritas por los profetas acerca del Hijo del hombre, 32 pues será entregado a los gentiles, se burlarán de él, lo insultarán y le escupirán. 33 Y después que lo hayan azotado, lo matarán; pero al tercer día resucitará.
34 Sin embargo, ellos nada comprendieron de estas cosas, porque esta palabra les era encubierta y no entendían lo que se les decía.
Un ciego de Jericó recibe la vista(D)
35 Aconteció que, acercándose Jesús a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando, 36 y al oír a la multitud que pasaba, preguntó qué era aquello. 37 Le dijeron que pasaba Jesús nazareno. 38 Entonces gritó, diciendo:
—¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!
39 Los que iban delante lo reprendían para que callara; pero él gritaba aún más fuerte:
—¡Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!
40 Jesús entonces, deteniéndose, mandó traerlo a su presencia. Cuando llegó, le preguntó, 41 diciendo:
—¿Qué quieres que te haga?
Y él dijo:
—Señor, que reciba la vista.
42 Jesús le dijo:
—Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado.
43 Al instante recobró la vista, y lo seguía glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo, cuando vio aquello, dio alabanza a Dios.
