Expanded Bible
God Will Destroy Babylon
47 The Lord says, “·City of [L Virgin daughter] Babylon, go down and sit in the ·dirt [dust].
·People of Babylon [L Daughter of the Chaldeans], sit on the ground.
·You are no longer the ruler [L …without a throne].
You will no longer be called
tender or ·beautiful [delicate; pampered].
2 Take millstones and grind grain into flour.
Remove your veil and ·take [strip] off your nice skirts.
Uncover your legs and cross the rivers [C actions of a servant, not a queen].
3 People will see your nakedness;
they will see your shame [C probably a euphemism for sexual organs].
I will ·punish you [take vengeance];
I will ·punish every one of you [spare no one].”
4 Our ·Savior [Redeemer] is named the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts];
he is the Holy One of Israel [1:4].
5 “·Babylon [L Daughter of the Chaldeans], sit in ·darkness and say nothing [L silence and go into darkness].
You will no longer be called the queen of kingdoms.
6 I was angry with my people,
so I ·rejected [defiled; desecrated; profaned] ·those who belonged to me [my inheritance/possession].
I gave them ·to you [L into your hand],
but you showed them no mercy.
You even ·made the old people
work very hard [L laid a very heavy yoke on the aged].
7 You said, ‘I will ·live [reign; be] forever as the queen.’
But you did not think about these things
or consider ·what would happen [the outcome/end].
8 “Now, listen, you lover of pleasure.
You ·think you are safe [who dwell in security].
You tell yourself,
‘·I am the only one [L I am], and there is no other [Zeph. 2:15].
I will never be a widow
or ·lose [L know the loss of] my children.’
9 Two things will happen to you suddenly, in a single day.
You will lose your children and ·your husband [L become a widow].
These things will ·truly happen to [or overwhelm; L come in abundance upon] you,
in spite of all your ·magic [sorceries],
in spite of your powerful ·tricks [spells; enchantments].
10 You ·do evil things, but you feel safe [L trusted/felt secure in your evil/wickedness]
and say, ‘No one sees ·what I do [L me].’
Your wisdom and knowledge
have ·fooled [mislead] you.
You say to yourself,
‘·I am the only one [L I am], and there is no other [v. 8].’
11 But ·troubles [disaster; evil] will come ·to [upon] you,
and you will not know how to ·stop them [conjure/charm it away].
·Disaster [Calamity; Destruction] will fall on you,
and you will not be able to ·keep it away [appease it; make atonement/pay ransom for it].
A catastrophe will strike ·quickly [suddenly];
you will not even ·see it coming [L know].
12 “Keep on using your ·tricks [magic spells; enchantments]
and doing all your ·magic [sorceries]
that you have ·used [practiced; labored at] since you were young.
Maybe ·they will help you [you will succeed/profit];
maybe you will be able to ·scare someone [provoke terror].
13 You are tired of the ·advice [counsel] you have received.
So let ·those who study the sky [the astrologers; L those who divide the heavens]—
those who ·tell the future by looking at the stars and the new moons [L gaze at the stars to know the months]—
let them save you from what is about to happen to you.
14 But they are like straw;
fire will quickly burn them up.
They cannot save themselves
from the power of the fire.
They are not like coals that give warmth
nor like a fire that you may sit beside.
15 You have ·worked [labored] with these people,
and they have ·been [or done business] with you since you were young,
but they will not be able to help you.
Everyone will ·go [or wander off] his own way,
and there will be no one left to save you.”

Mensaje de Dios a Babilonia
47 »Baja y siéntate en el polvo,
virgen, hija de Babilonia.
Siéntate en el piso, ya no tienes el trono, hija de los caldeos.[a]
Ya no te llamarán tierna y delicada.
2 Toma el molino y muele la harina.
Quítate el velo, súbete la falda,
deja libre las piernas y cruza los ríos.
3 Se te verá todo, quedarás desnuda.
Voy a castigarte, no perdonaré a nadie».
4 Nuestro Salvador se llama el SEÑOR Todopoderoso,
es el Santo Dios de Israel.
5 Él dice: «Siéntate en silencio, hija de los caldeos,
y vete a la oscuridad.
Porque ya no se te llamará:
“la reina de las naciones”.
6 Me enojé con mi pueblo;
no le di honra a mi propia posesión.
Dejé que cayeran en tus manos.
No tuviste compasión de ellos,
incluso a los viejos los
pusiste a trabajar duramente.
7 Decías: “Viviré eternamente como una reina”.
No se te ocurrió pensar en esto,
ni en lo que sucedería después.
8 »Ahora escucha, mujer amante del placer,
que se sienta toda tranquila, diciéndose a sí misma:
“Yo soy única, no existe otra además de mí,
no enviudaré ni perderé mis hijos”.
9 Pero ambas cosas te van a suceder
de repente, el mismo día.
Sufrirás la pérdida de tu esposo y de tus hijos.
De nada te servirá toda tu magia
ni el gran poder de tus brujerías.
10 Te sentías muy segura en tu maldad
y pensabas: “Nadie me está viendo”.
Tu sabiduría y tu conocimiento te extraviaron.
Tú que te decías: “Yo soy única,
no existe otra además de mí”.
11 Así que el desastre vendrá sobre ti.
No tendrás ni idea de cuándo sucederá.
Caerás en la ruina
y no podrás evitarlo.
El desastre te sorprenderá,
cuando menos lo esperes.
12 »Sigue en tus brujerías y magia,
que es lo que has estado haciendo desde que eras joven.
A lo mejor te resulten, quizás te fortalezcan.
13 Estás agotada de tantos consejeros.
Que se levanten los astrólogos y te salven,
esos que observan las estrellas
y te dan predicciones cada mes de lo que te va a pasar.
14 Ellos no son más que paja que el fuego devorará.
No pueden ni salvarse ellos mismos del poder del fuego.
Y no se trata de un fuego para sentarse
y calentarse ante él.
15 Eso es todo lo que pueden hacer por ti tus socios comerciales,
con los cuales has trabajado desde tu juventud.
Cada uno de ellos se va por su lado,
y a ti no hay quien te salve.

2 (B)Вземи хромели и мели брашно; свали булото си, запретни поли, разголи крака, гази реки:
3 (C)твоята голота ще се открие, и ще се виждат дори твоите срамоти. Ще отмъстя и никого не ще пожаля.
4 (D)Нашият Изкупител – името Му е Господ Саваот – е Светият Израилев.
5 Седи мълком и прибери се в тъмнината, дъще Халдейска, защото занапред няма да те наричат господарка на царствата.
6 (E)Аз се разгневих на Моя народ, унизих Моето наследие и ги предадох в твои ръце; а ти не им оказа милосърдие, на старец налага най-тежкото си иго.
7 (F)И си казваше: „вечно ще бъда господарка“, а на ум си не туряше това, не помисляше, какво ще бъде отпосле.
8 (G)Но сега изслушай това, ти, изнежена, която живееш безгрижно, която си казваш в сърцето: „аз съм, и няма друга като мене: няма да седя вдовица, нито ще изпитам загуба на деца“.
9 (H)Но внезапно, в един ден ще те сполети едното и другото – загуба на деца и вдовство; в пълна мярка ще те сполетят те, при всичкото множество на твоите вражби и голямата сила на твоите магии.
10 (I)Защото ти се надяваше на злодейството си и казваше: „никой ме не види“. Твоята мъдрост и твоето знание – те те отклониха от пътя, и ти си думаше в сърце: „аз съм, и няма никоя освен мене“.
11 И ще те сполети бедствие: не ще узнаеш, откъде ще се подигне то, и ще те връхлети беда, която не ще бъдеш в сила да отблъснеш; и внезапно ще те сполети гибел, за която и не мислиш.
12 Стой си прочее с твоите магии и с многото си вражби, с които си се занимавала от младини: може би – ще си помогнеш, може би – ще устоиш.
13 Ти си уморена от многото си кроежи; нека излязат ония, които наблюдават небесата, звездобройци и предсказвачи по новолуния, и да те спасят от онова, що трябва да ти се случи.
14 (J)Ето, те са като слама: огън ги изгори; не избавиха душата си от пламъка; не остана въглен да се погрее някой, нито огън, да си поседи пред него.
15 Такива са станали за тебе ония, с които си се трудила, с които си търгувала от младините си. Всеки ударил по свой път; никой те не спасява.
