¹ Hear this, O priests!
    Listen closely, O house of Israel!
Give heed, O house of the king,
    for you will be called to judgment!
For you have been a snare at Mizpah,^[a]
    and a net spread out upon Tabor,

⁹ Like robbers waiting in ambush,
    priests are banded together.
They commit murder on the road to Shechem,
    perpetrating monstrous crimes.

¹¹ Her leaders accept bribes for favorable judgments,
    her priests render judgments for a fee,
    her prophets practice divination for money.
And yet they rely upon the Lord, saying,
    “Isn’t the Lord in our midst?
    No harm can come upon us.”

⁴ Its prophets are arrogant;
    they are treacherous men.
Its priests have profaned what is holy
    and done violence to the law.

⁶ A son honors his father,
    and a servant fears his master.
If then I am a father,
    where is the honor due to me?
So says the Lord of hosts
    to you priests who despise my name.
You ask, “How have we despised your name?”

⁸ But you have turned aside from the way
    and caused many to stumble
    as the result of your instruction.
You have destroyed the covenant of Levi,
    says the Lord of hosts.
