5 ^(A)Чуйте това, свещеници, внимавайте, доме Израилев, и приклони ухо, доме царев; защото ще има съд за вас, понеже бяхте примка в Масифа и изопната мрежа на Тавор.

²Дълбоко потънаха те в разпътство, но Аз ще накажа всички тях.

³^(B)Ефрема Аз познавам, и Израил не е скрит от Мене; защото ти блудствуваш, Ефреме, и Израил се оскверни.

⁴^(C)Делата им не ги оставят да се обърнат към своя Бог, защото духът на блудството е вътре в тях, и Господа те не познаха.

⁵^(D)И гордостта на Израиля е унизена в очите им; и Израил и Ефрем ще паднат поради нечестието си; ще падне и Иуда с тях.

⁶^(E)Със своите овни и с воловете си ще тръгнат да търсят Господа и няма да Го намерят: Той се оттегли от тях.

⁷^(F)Те изневериха Господу, защото родиха чужди деца; сега новият месец ще ги погълне с имотите им.

⁸^(G)Затръбете с рог в Гива, с тръба в Рама; провиквайте се в Бет-Авен: след тебе, Вениамине!

⁹Ефрем ще стане пустиня в деня на наказанието; Аз възвестих това между колената Израилеви.

¹⁰^(H)Вождовете Иудини станаха като ония, които преместят межди: ще излея като вода върху тях Моя гняв.

¹¹Угнетен е Ефрем, поразен е чрез съд, защото пожела да върви подир суетното.

¹²И ще бъда като молец за Ефрема и като червей за дома Иудин.

¹³^(I)И видя Ефрем болестта си, и Иуда – раната си; и тръгна Ефрем за Асур и прати при цар Иарева; но той не ще може да ви изцери, и няма да ви излекува от раната.

¹⁴^(J)Защото Аз съм като лъв за Ефрема и като лъвче за дома Иудин; Аз, Аз ще разкъсам и ще замина; ще отнеса – и никой няма да спаси.

¹⁵Ще тръгна, ще се върна в Моето място, докле те не се признаят за виновни и не потърсят лицето Ми.

5 Чуйте това, свещеници, Внимавайте, доме Израилев, И дайте ухо, доме царев; Защото има присъда против вас; Понеже станахте< като> примка в Масфа, И, <като> мрежа простряна върху Тавор.

²Бунтовниците дълбоко потънаха в разврат; Но Аз ги изобличавам всички.

³Аз познавам Ефрема, И Израил не е скрит от Мене; Защото <и> сега блудствуваш Ефреме, И Израил е осквернен.

⁴Делата им не ги оставят да се върнат при своя Бог; Защото блуднически дух има дълбоко в тях, И те не познават Господа.

⁵Гордостта на Израиля свидетелствува пред лицето му; Затова Израил и Ефрем ще се препъват чрез беззаконието си, И Юда ще се препъва с тях.

⁶Със стадата си и с чердите си Ще отидат да търсят Господа; Но няма да Го намерят; Той се е оттеглил от тях.

⁷Те се отнесоха коварно към Господа, Защото родиха чада от чужденки; Сега, до новолуние, ще бъдат погълнати те и наследствата им,

⁸Затръбете с рог в Гавая, С тръба в Рама; Дайте тревога във Вет-авен - След тебе, Вениамине!

⁹Ефрем ще запустее в деня, когато бъде изобличен; Обявих между Израилевите племена онова, което непременно ще стане, <сиреч, че>

¹⁰Понеже Юдовите първенци станаха като ония, които преместват межди, Затова ще излея гнева Си върху тях.

¹¹Ефрем е насилван, поразен е в съдбата, Защото помисли за добре да следва суетните <идоли>;

¹²И Аз бях като молец на Ефрема, И като червей на Юдовия дом.

¹³Когато Ефрем видя, че боледува, И Юда <видя> раната си, Ефрем отиде при асириеца И <Юда> прати до цар Ярива; Но той не може да ви изцели, Нито да излекува раната ви.

¹⁴Защото Аз ще бъда като лъв на Ефрема, И като млад лъв на Юдовия дом; Аз, да! Аз ще разкъсам и ще си отида; Ще отнеса и не ще има кой да отърве.

Israel and Judah Will Be Judged

The Lord said:

5 Listen, you priests!
    Pay attention, Israel!^[a]
Listen, you members
    of the royal family.
Justice was your duty.
But^[b] at Mizpah and Mount Tabor
    you trapped the people.
²At the place of worship
you were a treacherous pit,^[c]
    and I will punish you.

³Israel, I know all about you,
and because of your unfaithfulness,
    I find you unacceptable.
⁴Your evil deeds are the reason
you won't return to me,
    your Lord God.
And your constant craving for sex
    keeps you from knowing me.

⁵Israel, your pride
    testifies to your guilt;
it makes you stumble,
    and Judah stumbles too.
⁶You offer sheep and cattle
    as sacrifices to me,
but I have turned away
    and refuse to be found.
⁷You have been unfaithful
    to me, your Lord;
you have had children
    by prostitutes.^[d]
So at the New Moon Festival,
you and your crops
    will be destroyed.^[e]

The Lord Warns Israel and Judah

⁸Give a warning on the trumpet!
Let it be heard in Gibeah,
    Ramah, and sinful Bethel.^[f]
Benjamin, watch out!^[g]
⁹I, the Lord, will punish
    and wipe out Israel.
This is my solemn promise
    to every tribe of Israel.
¹⁰Judah's leaders are like crooks
    who move boundary markers;
that's why I will flood them
    with my anger.

¹¹Israel was brutally crushed.
They got what they deserved
    for worshiping useless idols.^[h]
¹²Now I, the Lord,
will fill Israel with maggots
    and make Judah rot.
¹³When Israel and Judah saw
    their sickness and wounds,
Israel asked help from Assyria
    and its mighty king.^[i]

But the king cannot cure them
    or heal their wounds.
¹⁴So I'll become a fierce lion
    attacking Israel and Judah.
I'll snatch and carry off
what I want,
    and no one can stop me.
¹⁵Then I'll return to my temple
until they confess their guilt
    and worship me,
until they are desperate
    and beg for my help.

Judgment Against Israel

5 “Hear this, you priests!
    Pay attention, you Israelites!
Listen, royal house!
    This judgment^(A) is against you:
You have been a snare^(B) at Mizpah,
    a net^(C) spread out on Tabor.
²The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter.^(D)
    I will discipline all of them.^(E)
³I know all about Ephraim;
    Israel is not hidden^(F) from me.
Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution;
    Israel is corrupt.^(G)

⁴“Their deeds do not permit them
    to return^(H) to their God.
A spirit of prostitution^(I) is in their heart;
    they do not acknowledge^(J) the Lord.
⁵Israel’s arrogance testifies^(K) against them;
    the Israelites, even Ephraim, stumble^(L) in their sin;
    Judah also stumbles with them.^(M)
⁶When they go with their flocks and herds
    to seek the Lord,^(N)
they will not find him;
    he has withdrawn^(O) himself from them.
⁷They are unfaithful^(P) to the Lord;
    they give birth to illegitimate^(Q) children.
When they celebrate their New Moon feasts,^(R)
    he will devour^[a]^(S) their fields.

⁸“Sound the trumpet^(T) in Gibeah,^(U)
    the horn in Ramah.^(V)
Raise the battle cry in Beth Aven^[b];^(W)
    lead on, Benjamin.
⁹Ephraim will be laid waste^(X)
    on the day of reckoning.^(Y)
Among the tribes of Israel
    I proclaim what is certain.^(Z)
¹⁰Judah’s leaders are like those
    who move boundary stones.^(AA)
I will pour out my wrath^(AB) on them
    like a flood of water.
¹¹Ephraim is oppressed,
    trampled in judgment,
    intent on pursuing idols.^[c]^(AC)
¹²I am like a moth^(AD) to Ephraim,
    like rot^(AE) to the people of Judah.

¹³“When Ephraim^(AF) saw his sickness,
    and Judah his sores,
then Ephraim turned to Assyria,^(AG)
    and sent to the great king for help.^(AH)
But he is not able to cure^(AI) you,
    not able to heal your sores.^(AJ)
¹⁴For I will be like a lion^(AK) to Ephraim,
    like a great lion to Judah.
I will tear them to pieces^(AL) and go away;
    I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.^(AM)
¹⁵Then I will return to my lair^(AN)
    until they have borne their guilt^(AO)
    and seek my face^(AP)—
in their misery^(AQ)
    they will earnestly seek me.^(AR)”
