Wisdom 18:13
Because of their misguided casting of spells and drug use, they didn’t believe until it was too late. As a result, all their oldest males were destroyed. It was only then that they acknowledged your people to be your children.
For whereas they would not believe any thing before by reason of the enchantments, then first upon the destruction of the firstborn, they acknowledged the people to be of God.
These people had paid no attention to any warning, but relied instead on their magical powers. But when their first-born sons were killed, then they recognized that Israel was God's son.
For though they disbelieved at every turn on account of sorceries, at the destruction of the firstborn they acknowledged that this people was God’s son.
Formerly they had disbelieved everything as a result of their sorceries, but at the destruction of their firstborn they acknowledged this people to be the offspring of God.
