Wisdom 17:9
Even when there was nothing around to frighten them, they were scared by the simple sounds of animals’ movements and hissing serpents.
For though no terrible thing disturbed them: yet being scared with the passing by of beasts, and hissing of serpents, they died for fear: and denying that they saw the air, which could by no means be avoided.
Even though nothing dangerous had actually happened, they were terrified by hissing snakes and animals advancing on them.
For even though no monstrous thing frightened them, they shook at the passing of insects and the hissing of reptiles,
Even if there was nothing disturbing to frighten them, they were panic-stricken because of the crawling vermin and the hissing of snakes,
For even if nothing disturbing frightened them, yet, scared by the passing of wild animals and the hissing of snakes
For even if nothing disturbing frightened them, yet, scared by the passing of wild animals and the hissing of snakes
