monsters from their own imaginations rose up and hunted them down. They were paralyzed with fear as their spirits failed them. A sudden and unexpected fear drenched their whole being.
Moreover if any of them had fallen down, he was kept shut up in prison without irons.
They were chased by hideous forms and lay paralyzed as they surrendered themselves to the sudden, unexpected fear that came over them.
Were partly smitten by fearsome apparitions and partly stricken by their souls’ surrender; for fear overwhelmed them, sudden and unexpected.
