Trembling, they were dying with fright, shutting their eyes even against the empty air, as if they could thus avoid what was scaring them.
For whereas wickedness is fearful, it beareth witness of its condemnation: for a troubled conscience always forecasteth grievous things.
And so they died, shaking with fear, afraid even to open their eyes, yet unable to keep them shut.
And perished trembling, reluctant to face even the air that they could nowhere escape.
and, convulsed with terror, they perished, even refusing to look upon the air whose presence cannot be avoided.
