The damage that these beasts would have been able to do would have been more than enough to wipe out your enemies. Just the sight of them would have been enough to make them die from fear!
Or unknown beasts of a new kind, full of rage: either breathing out a fiery vapour, or sending forth a stinking smoke, or shooting horrible sparks out of their eyes:
You could have made animals like these that would not have to attack those people to kill them, but could scare them to death just by looking at them.
Not only could these attack and completely destroy them; even their frightful appearance itself could slay.
These could not only destroy people by the harm they did but also strike them dead by their terrifying appearance alone.
