Tobit 10:7
“You be quiet!” she would say. “Don’t lie to me! My son has perished.” Daily she hurried out to scan the road on which her son had gone and she wouldn’t be persuaded by anyone. When the sun set, she would come inside, mourning and weeping the whole night without sleeping. When the fourteen days of the wedding feast were finished, which Raguel had sworn to celebrate for his daughter, Tobias came to him and said, “Send me off, for I know that my father and my mother don’t believe they will ever see me again. So now, father, I ask you to send me off to go to my father. I have already let you know how I left him.”
But she could by no means be comforted, but daily running out looked round about, and went into all the ways by which there seemed any hope he might return, that she might if possible see him coming afar off.
But she replied, Be quiet and leave me alone! Don't try to fool me. My son is dead. Each day she would rush out of the house to the road which Tobias had taken and would watch for him until sunset. She would let no one comfort her, and when she returned home she would weep and mourn for her son all night long, without sleeping. The two-week wedding feast which Raguel had promised to hold for his daughter Sarah came to an end. So Tobias went to him and asked, Please let me go home now. I'm certain my parents have given up all hope of ever seeing me again. Please, Raguel, let me go home to my father. I have already told you the condition he was in when I left.
But she retorted, “You be still, and do not try to deceive me! My son has perished!” She would rush out and keep watch every day at the road her son had taken. She ate nothing. After the sun had set, she would go back home to wail and cry the whole night through, getting no sleep at all. Now when the fourteen days of the wedding celebration, which Raguel had sworn to hold for his daughter, had come to an end, Tobiah went to him and said: “Send me off, now, since I know that my father and mother do not believe they will ever see me again. So I beg you, father, let me depart and go back to my own father. I have already told you how I left him.”
But she retorted: “Let me alone and do not try to deceive me! My child has perished.” Each day she would go out and maintain her watch on the road her son had taken, and she would listen to no one. At sunset she would return home and mourn and weep throughout the night, unable to sleep. After the fourteen days for the wedding celebration that Raguel had sworn to hold for his daughter had come to an end, Tobiah approached him and said, “Now please let me depart, for I am positive that my father and mother do not believe that they will ever see me again. So I beseech you, father, that you allow me to return home now to my father Tobit. I have already explained to you the condition in which I left him.”
She answered him, ‘Be quiet yourself! Stop trying to deceive me! My child has perished.’ She would rush out every day and watch the road her son had taken, and would heed no one. When the sun had set she would go in and mourn and weep all night long, getting no sleep at all. Now when the fourteen days of the wedding celebration had ended that Raguel had sworn to observe for his daughter, Tobias came to him and said, ‘Send me back, for I know that my father and mother do not believe that they will see me again. And she answered him, “Be still and stop deceiving me; my child has perished.” And she went out every day to the road by which they had left; she ate nothing in the daytime, and throughout the nights she never stopped mourning for her son Tobi′as, until the fourteen days of the wedding feast had expired which Rag′uel had sworn that he should spend there. At that time Tobi′as said to Rag′uel, “Send me back, for my father and mother have given up hope of ever seeing me again.”
And she answered him, “Be still and stop deceiving me; my child has perished.” And she went out every day to the road by which they had left; she ate nothing in the daytime, and throughout the nights she never stopped mourning for her son Tobi′as, until the fourteen days of the wedding feast had expired which Rag′uel had sworn that he should spend there. At that time Tobi′as said to Rag′uel, “Send me back, for my father and mother have given up hope of ever seeing me again.”
But his mother might not be comforted in any manner, but each day she went out, and looked about after (or for) him, and compassed all the ways, by which the hope of his again-coming (or his coming again) seemed to her, to see him coming (from) afar, if it might be done. [She forsooth no wise might take comfort, but each day starting out, beheld about, and went about all the ways, by which seemed hope of (him) turning again, that afar she might see him coming, if it might be so.]
