which set fire to Jerusalem, the chosen city, and its sanctuary and made its streets desolate, as Jeremiah said.
For the kings of Juda forsook the law of the most High, and despised the fear of God.

Who burned the holy city and left its streets desolate,
The chosen city, the city of the sanctuary, was set on fire, and its streets were left desolate,
