Getting drunk causes fools to lose their temper and do themselves harm, reducing their strength, and adding injuries as well.
Challenge not them that love wine: for wine hath destroyed very many.
A drunken fool can lose his temper and hurt himself. His drinking makes him weak and an easy target for angry blows.
Wine in excess is a snare for the fool; it lessens strength and multiplies wounds.
Drunkenness increases the anger of a fool to his own harm, sapping his strength and exposing him to injury.
