Of what use is an offering of fruit to an idol? It can’t eat or smell. The person whom the Lord punishes is like this,
What good shall an offering do to an idol? for it can neither eat, nor smell:
But there is no point in offering food to an idol; it can't eat it or smell it. It is just the same with someone whom the Lord has afflicted.
What good is an offering to an idol that can neither eat nor smell? So it is with the one being punished by the Lord,
Of what use is a sacrifice to an idol that can neither taste nor smell? So it is with the man afflicted by the Lord;
Of what use to an idol is a sacrifice? For it can neither eat nor smell. So is one punished by the Lord;
Of what use to an idol is a sacrifice? For it can neither eat nor smell. So is one punished by the Lord;
Of what use to an idol is a sacrifice? For it can neither eat nor smell. So is the one punished by the Lord;

What shall sacrifice profit to an idol? [or What shall profit sacrifice to the maumet?] for why it shall not eat, neither shall smell. So he that is driven away from the Lord,
