Sirach 29:6

If they can repay, their creditors will barely recover half the amount, and the creditors will consider that much a windfall; but if they can’t pay, they have defrauded their creditors of their money, and they have made enemies out of them needlessly. They will repay their creditors with curses and insults, and they will repay them with dishonor rather than glory.
But when they should repay, they will ask time, and will return tedious and murmuring words, and will complain of the time:
If the lender insists on being paid, he can count himself lucky to get back half. If he doesn't insist, the borrower has robbed him and made an unnecessary enemy. All the lender will get from him are curses, insults, and disrespect, but never any gratitude.
If he can pay, the lender will recover barely half, and will consider that a windfall. If he cannot pay, the lender is cheated of his money and acquires an enemy at no extra charge; With curses and insults the borrower will repay, and instead of honor will repay with abuse.
If the borrower can be forced to pay, the creditor will get back barely half, and will regard that as an unexpected windfall. But otherwise such a creditor will be cheated of his money and will gain an enemy in the bargain. The borrower will repay him with curses and insults, and with abuse instead of honor.
If he can pay, his creditor will hardly get back half, and will regard that as a windfall. If he cannot pay, the borrower has robbed the other of his money, and he has needlessly made him an enemy; he will repay him with curses and reproaches, and instead of glory will repay him with dishonour.

If the lender exert pressure, he will hardly get back half, and will regard that as a windfall. If he does not, the borrower has robbed him of his money, and he has needlessly made him his enemy; he will repay him with curses and reproaches, and instead of glory will repay him with dishonor.

Forsooth if he may yield, he shall be adversary; of a shilling scarcely he shall yield the half, and he shall reckon that as (re)funding. Else he shall defraud him in (or of) his money, and the lender shall have him (as) an enemy without cause. And he shall yield to him, that is, to the lender, wrongs and cursings; and for honour and benefice, he shall yield to him despising. [If forsooth he shall be able to yield, he shall be enemy; scarcely of the whole he shall yield the half, and he shall count it as (re)funding. Else forsooth he shall beguile him his money, and shall have him enemy willfully. And reproofs and curses he shall yield to him; and for worship (or honour) and benefit he shall yield to him wrong.]
